This Birthday Piggy Pull Tab Slider Bridge Card

OMG, I saw a version of this card with the Little Piggy on the motorbike, (cut from the new piggy die cuts) in motion, and knew I had to try it! It really wasn't too bad to figure out.  Someone had a video on YouTube that definitely helped! For my version, I used the birds from the Host DSP Pack, Design a Daydream , along with the Subtles 6x6 DSP Pack, clouds from Give it a Whirl, and a variety of Blends.  The "track" is made from the long sentiment die in the Harvest Dies! (we used to use "window" punches. To make the card, the "bridge" is double layered with a "slider" in between.  Hope to make a video...

Measurements:

  • Pool Party: 4 1/4" x 8"
  • Basic White: Scraps - clouds, piggy
  • Crumb Cake: 3/4" x 5" (Pull Tab), 1 1/4" x 5" (back piece), 1 3/4" x 5" (front)
  • Subtles 6x6 DSP Pack (N): 2 pcs @ 1 1/8" x 4"
  • Design a Daydream Host (N): 2 3/4" x 4" (center), 2 pcs @ 1 1/8" x 4" (sides) - gulls
To Make This Card:

  • Score the 4 1/4" x 8" piece at 1 1/4" - 2 1/2". Turn and repeat at the other end.
  • Crease well with a bone folder creating an "accordion" fold.  Adhere 2 Subtles DSP strips to front panels, larger "gull" piece to inside, center, and the other 2 "gull" strips to the "inside" of the accordion folds..  Set aside.
  • If you would like a little bit of a curve to the front Crumb Cake piece, cut this with the "tulip border" from the Tulips Dies.  Trim off the "stems"
  • Next, cut the "track from this front piece using the long label die from the Harvest Dies. Set aside.
  • Take the "tab" strip and angle one end.  You can either do this by hand, or use one of our "Pick a Punch" punches.
  • Next, decide which way you would like you image to go. Lay the front Crumb Cake piece wrong side up, center the "pull tab" evenly over the opening. Leaving this in place, place foam adhesive strips, closely on either side of the track opening, leaving the pull end open, and closing in the opposide end, near the end of the die cut opening.  Remove the tape backing, line up the bottom and side edges and adhere to the Crumb Cake backing.  Your "pull tab bridge" is now ready to go!
  • Now, cut 3 clouds (they are all different) from the clouds in the Give It a Whirl set, or punch them out, or whatever you have! Add the one on the center panel, now, and save the other 2 until your card is done!
  • Stamp the little piggy in Memento Black ink onto scrap of white.  Color as shown, and cut out with new, coordinating die!
  • Push your "pull tab" into place, and stamp your outside message to the far, open side, centering as much as possible.
  • Next, add the "piggy" with Dimensionals so that you can read this message. This will also act as the "stop" for the pull tab!
  • Pull the "piggy" over, into place, exposing the back panel, and stamp your other message here!.  Cool, huh!
  • Now, you are ready to add the "bridge" to your card.  Add Tear n Tape to lower left and right of front panels. Attach "bridge" to one corner, matching cut edges, then, push it over to one side and match up other corner and adhere.  And, voila! You are done!

Mom's Birthday Card

This is the card that I made for Mom for her 90th birthday on Wednesday! She has this SAB bundle, Wonderful World, so I wanted to give her an idea that she could duplicate herself! It's a variation of a card that I saw online.  Instead of stamping the flower, I cut one from the DSP. Also, take note of our new Quatrefoil Tile Embossing Folder from the AC!

Measurements:

  • Orchid Oasis (N): 1/2 sheet, 3" x 4 1/4"
  • Basic White: 2 pcs 4" x 5 1/4" 1 outside layer, 1 inside), 2 3/4" x 4" (embossed), 2 1/2" x 3" (oval), scrap (sentiment)
  • Wonderful World DSP SAB (N): 1 3/4' X 5, Flower
To Make This Card:
  • Attach one White piece and DSP to folded Orchid Oasis card, as shown.
  • Run next largest piece of White through Quatrefoil Tile EF. Attach to corresponding Orchid Oasis layer.
  • Cut Oval "frame" from new Fabulous Frames Dies in the AC, from White piece.
  • Chop flower of your choice from the DSP.  Mount to the back of the "frame" and trim to match. Add to embossed layer.
  • Now, add this entire piece to front of card with Dimensionals.
  • Stamp sentiment in Orchid Oasis onto scrap of White.  I cut out with smallest narrow banner from the Stylish Shapes Dies in the AC. Add to card where desired.
  • Next, I took some narrow crinkled seam binding and colored with Lt Orchid Oasis Blend, and tied into a double bow.  Add to card, where desired.
  • Finish with a few purple scattered gems.  I used the retired Peacock Rhinestones, but you could also color some Orchid Oasis ones with the Dk Blend.
