I started this darling Gift Card Holder in Indiana last week, but was missing the stamps that I needed to finish it. So, here it is! I just LOVE it! I think it's fun that it just looks like a card, but...SURPRISE, there's a little gift bag inside, with a little something in it! I have only seen a few samples. Most use a belly band to close it, but, well, you know how I feel about belly bands. So mine is closed with a Velcro dot! I have used the Heartwarming Hugs DSP and the Perfectly Plaid stamps and tree punch (yes, it is still available, and one of my favorites, in the Annual Catalog). I hope to do a video on how to make this!
Measurements:
- Mossy Meadow: 1/2 sheet cut LENGTHWISE
- Heartwarming Hugs DSP: 4" x 9 1/2" (BAG); 3 ½” x 4" (stripe), 2 ¼” x 4" (dots) - outside; 2 3/4" x 4" (dots), 2 1/4" x 4" (diag stripe) - inside
- Basic White: 4" x 4" (inside), scraps - trees, outside sentiment
To Make This Card:
- Score Mossy Meadow base along 11" side at 3 1/2" - 8 1/2". Crease well.
- Score "BAG" DSP as follows: along 4” side, score at 1” and 3 ½”; along 9 ½” side, score at ½”, 1”, 4 ½”, 5”, 5 ½”, and 9”.
- The two sections of the gift bag scored a ½” apart will fold in like a real gift bag. Cut out notches as noted below:
- While the "bag" is still flat, use an old, small hole punch to make the holes for your "handle", .Punch holes approx 1” below the score line (see pix) – to make it easier, you can fold bag over to get both sides at once.
- Thread a 5” piece of ribbon through each side, secure with tape (scotch), then use Tear & Tape to adhere the 1” flap down and over that so it cannot be seen.
- Next, place Tear & Tape on the ½” panel (on the right here). Make the bag by attaching this over the left most ½” panel. Now, you have your little gusseted bag!
- To attach your gift bag into your card – place Tear & Tape on the bottom ½” tabs of your gift bag. Place into card (in the crease of the 3 ½” score mark) and carefully close card. When you open, the gift bag should pop right up. Too fun!
- Now to decorate!! I added the White square to the inside, first. Then add the corresponding DSP pieces to the outside & inside.
- Choose a "theme" that goes with your DSP, and/or stamps that you have!
