Chalked Dahlia

Ok, so I made THREE cards using the Delicate Dahlias, I LOVE it so much!  Today's card is a "throwback" to when we had Stampin' Pastels.  It uses a technique called Poppin' Pastels, which uses a Versamark Ink Pad, and our Soft Pastels!!  I've included a quick video on this technique with this post.  Will do a more in-depth video of how to use this awesome color tool, soon!  So stay tuned! For a softer background, I stamped on our Shimmery White. And mounted that to a piece of our gorgeous, new Ombre Glitter Paper! Check out my video below!

Measurements:

  • Coastal Cabana: 1/2 sheet
  • Ombre Glitter Specialty Paper (N): 3 3/4" x 5"
  • Shimmery White: 3 1/2" x 4 3/4"
To Make This Card:

  • Attach "Navy" glitter paper to folded Coastal Cabana card.
  • Cut a stitched scallop from Shimmery White, using Scalloped Contour Dies.
  • Stamp "solid" Dahlia in VersaMark in upper left corner of Shimmery rectangle.
  • Now, "scribble" Night of Navy pastel onto piece of scrap paper.  Use a sponge dauber to lift the "chalk" and rub color into the center of the flower.  Repeat until the desired shade.
  • Now, "scribble" Coastal Cabana pastel onto your scrap.  Repeat with a new dauber, blending into the Navy color as well.  Blow off any extra powder.
  • Then, stamp the "leaves".  "Scribble" some Granny Apple Green onto your paper, take another dauber and color in the color.  (Save and label these daubers for Pastels!  You can use them again!)
  • Stamp sentiment in Coastal Cabana.  Mount this piece onto Glitter paper.
  • Finish with InColor Gems in the center of the Dahlia, and scattered Navy Rhinestones from the Holiday collection.

Detailed Pretty Pumpkin

I saw a version of this card, actually a collection of several cards, that were done in Pale Papaya with various embossing folders and papers.  As I started working with the Pale Papaya, it just wasn't working for me, so I switched to Petal Pink.  Kind of an odd choice, but I LOVE it!  I combined the gorgeous detailed pumpkin in the die set, with Pearlescent Paper, Gold Foil and Petal Pink DSP to create my version!  I hope you like it!

Measurements:

  • Petal Pink: 1/2 sheet, 3" x 4 1/2"
  • Very Vanilla: 3 1/4" x 4 3/4", scraps
  • Gold Foil: 2 3/8" x 3 7/8"
  • Pearlescent Paper: 2 1/4" x 3 3/4"
  • Subtles DSP Collection: 2 1/4" x  3 3/4"
To Make This Card:

  • Run smaller Petal Pink piece through Tasteful Texile EF.  Attach to Very Vanilla piece (or piece of Pearlized Paper) and then attach to folded Petal Pink card base.
  • Cut large, detailed pumpkin from Pearlized Paper.  Attach to DSP, and then to Gold Foil layer.  Attach to card front with Dimensionals.
  • Stamp "leaves" in Memento Black.  Color in with Blends as shown.  Cut out with corresponding die.  Attach smaller "vine" to pumpkin first, flat.  Then, add larger "vine" to card with Dimensionals.
  • Finish with a small, gold ribbon.

Baby Wipe Gingerbread Bells

Here is another cool project we made at Vacation Stamping School!! It utilizes the "bells" from the Frosted  Gingerbread and a technique that I haven't done in AGES....the Baby Wipe Technique!  You get such neat effects with this simple technique.  So, grab your refill inks and a pack of baby wipes and give it a go!

Measurements:

  • Real Red: 1/2 sheet
  • Basic White:3 3/4" x 5"
  • Cinnamon Cider: 4" x 5 1/4" (inside), 2 1/4" x 3 1/2"
  • Shimmery White:  2 1/2" x 4 1/4" (bells)
  • Gingerbread & Peppermint DSP (N): 3" x 4"
To Make This Card:

  • Create your own, custom "ink pad" using baby wipes & ink refills in a stamp case. Take several baby wipes, fold, and place in the stamp case.  Add several drops of each color ink to make your pad.
  • Samp the bell into your custom "ink pad" and then stamp on the Shimmery White cardstock.  Be sure to use a Stampin' Pierce Mat to get good, even pressure.  Repeat for another Bell.  Cut out with corresponding die.
  • Ink the "bell" up one more time, and stamp on the White piece for inside.
  • Also, while you have your custom pad, ink up the sentiment and stamp on the Cinnamon Cider piece as shown.
  • Fold the Real Red card base in half.  Attach DSP and Cinnamon Cider piece as desired.
  • Add "bells" on top with Dimensionals.
  • Layer White inside piece to Cinnamon Cider layer and attach to inside of card.  Stamp sentiment in Cinnamon Cider.
  • Finish with White Bakers Twine bow, and scattered gems.
  • Attach Basic White and Cinnamon Cider Layers.
  • Stamp sentiment in Real Red onto scrap of White.  Cut out with Stitched Rectangle Die.
  • Set aside.
  • Die cut 3 different shapes from DSP. Also cut out 3 "peppermints".
  • Now arrange all onto your card.  I laid out the bottom die cut first, and then attached the sentiment piece, and then arranged the rest of the pieces.  I popped up the larger die cuts, and the "pepperments" are on flat.
  • Now, attach the remaining White piece to the inside of the card.

Detailed MIni Pinwheel Tower Card

Good Morning!  Yesterday was my Mom's 89th birthday!! I had a wonderful day with my Mom and 2 sisters!!  We started the day by giving her her gift, a new walker that can convert to a push chair.  It was on back order until early September, so she was quite surprised, and pleased, that it arrived early! We then headed up to Clinto where we treated her to Chicken George at the Candlelight Inn. We came back to my youngest sister, Wendy's - our hostess with the mostest, and yummy Buster Bar dessert that my sister, Cyndi, and made.  Talk about sugar overload, but SO delicious!

So, I hated to post her card yesterday...as I know she checks out my posts daily, and I didn't want to spoil the surprise.  She was wanting to make this card, so I made one for her (and gave her the directions)!  This is the completed version of one I shared with you a week ago. Still used the gorgeous Expressions in Ink DSP, but with a birthday theme!

Anyway, we always get tons of inspiration, ideas, and stamping!! This year, we stamped 7 projects using the awesome Gingerbread & Peppermint Suite. I'll be sharing these over the next few days, but am starting with my favorite, a slimline card! Be sure to take a look at this Suite in the "Holiday" mini catalog!
