Old Hues of Happiness DSP meets New Elegant Borders

This card was, again, created for my card classes at the Senior Center.  They loved last months' using the beautiful Elegant Borders, one of our Online Exclusives. So I found this one using the retired Hues of Happiness DSP (which they love, as well). Since we used the "wider" border last month, I decided to start with the "narrower" border this time.  I LOVE them both.  Which one is your favorite?  Guess I'd better get die cutting flowers!

Measurements:

  • Basic White: 1/2 sheet
  • THICK Basic White: 1/4 sheet
  • Hues of Happiness(ret): 2 1/2" x 5 1/2", 3 die cut flowers, 2 sprigs
To Make This Card

  • Take the DSP strip and cut in half lengthwise, so you have 2 pcs @ 1 1/4" x 5 1/2". Fold your white card base in half, and then adhere one strip near the fold of the card, and the other at the bottom.  If you have the luxury of a full 1/4 sheet, then just use the full shirt, however, I did not!
  • Next, die cut the border of your choice from the top and the bottom of the THICK White piece.  (I used thick white to make the details a little "sturdier".)
  • Stamp the sentiment of your choice in Basic Gray near the bottom of the solid part of the panel.
  • Die cut, or choose from your stash, 3 flowers of varying sizes.  I adhered the largest, first, flat; the 2nd, medium one I popped up with Dimensionals, and the smallest I added last and tucked it in under the medium one.
  • Next, I added 1 "sprig" - also die cut, and one 2 "leaf" - also die cut
  • Your bling will be dictated by the colors you used, as welI as which border. I used the Tinsel Gems 3 pack for both of mine.  Notice the "wider" one has a gem at the center top and bottom.
While I used retired DSP, you could use anything that would create a neat "cluster" as your focal point.  Oooo, I might just try a fall one!

Mystery Stamping - 2 Rectangles and a Focal Point #2

First, I must appologize for all the retired items I've been using lately.  I'm creating for the Senior Center and I mostly use retired items.  You might already even have these items in your stash! Sharon's purpose in her Monday Mystery Stamping is to use what you already have!! For these samples, I've used the retired Hues of Happiness DSP and retired Pretty Flowers Embossing Folder.  However, I used a brand new color...Bubble Bath! I took all of the same items and just arranged them a little differently for each orientation.  The possibilities are endless!!  Once, again, my "focal point" is a "sentiment box", but I could have also used one of the die cut flowers!

Measurements:

  • Bubble Bath (N): 1/2 sheet, 1" x 2 3/4" (msg); 1 3/4" x 3", 2 1/4" x 3 3/4"
  • Basic White: 2 pcs @ 4" x 5 1/4", 3/4" x 2 1/2"
  • Hues of Happiness(ret): 1 1/2" x 2 3/4", 2" x 3 1/2", 1/2" x (5 1/4) or (4") strip
To Make This Card

  • Emboss one White layer and the 2 DSP pieces with desired Embossing Folder. I used the retired Pretty Flower Embossing Folder.
  • Attach the White piece to folded Bubble Bath card.
  • Attach each embossing DSP piece to its' corresponding layer.
  • Attach wider piece to the left side of card, as shown.  Attach the narrower piece to the card front with Dimensionals as shown, overlapping the layer in place.
  • Stamp sentiment in Basic Gray onto small White piece.  Attach to corresponding layer, then to card front with one Dimensional, as shown.
  • I experimented with the bling for these cards.  One uses the retired Noble Peacock Rhinestones, the other the Iridescent Rhinestones.

Mystery Stamping - 2 Rectangles and a Focal Point

I love to check in to TX Sharon's Monday Mystery Stamping.  She had an awesome layout last Monday that *I* call 2 Rectangles and a Focal Point! (She never calls them anything in particular!) I am loving this layout!  It uses up those scraps you don't know what to do with and embossing folders that you may not have used in a while!  I made this one as my "masculine" card for my Senior Center classes next week.  I saw something similar on Sharon's website. I just love how it turned out. So, check out the scraps laying on your work table that you could use!  Stay tuned...I'm not done creating, yet!

Measurements:

  • Crushed Curry: 1/2 sheet, 1 1/2" x 2 1/4" (msg); 1 3/4" x 3", (trees) 2 1/4" x 3 3/4" (birds)
  • Basic White: 2 pcs @ 4" x 5 1/4", 1 1/4" x 2"
  • Rings of Love (ret): 1 1/2" x 2 3/4" (trees), 2" x 3 1/2" (birds), 1/2" x 4" strip (trees)
To Make This Card

  • Emboss one White layer and the 2 DSP pieces with desired Embossing Folder. I used the retired Woodland Embossing Folder.
  • Attach the White piece to folded Crushed Curry card.
  • Attach each embossing DSP piece to its' corresponding layer.
  • Attach wider piece to the top of card, as shown.  Attach the narrower piece to the card front with Dimensionals as shown.
  • Stamp sentiment in Early Espresso onto small White piece.  Attach to corresponding layer, then to card front with one Dimensional, as shown.

Simple Circle Sayings Card

This is another, simplier version of my previous card using the Circle Sayings and Rays of Light stamps.

Measurements:

  • Lost Lagoon (ret): 1/2 sheet cut LENGTHWISE
  • Pool Party: 4" x 5 1/4", 3" square
  • Lemon Lolly (N): 3 3/4" x 5"
  • Basic White: 4" x 5 1/4", 2 3/4" square
  • Lost Lagoon DSP: 1/2" x 5 1/4" strip
To Make This Card
  • Fold card in half lengthwise.  Attach Pool Party Layer on top.
  • Next, I placed the Rays of Light stamp onto my Stamparatus. Ink it up with Lemon Lolly ink. I laid the Lemon Lolly cardstock directly onto the stamp, so the center of the rays were a little to the right.  Close the Stamparatus and flip it all over. Then press evenly with your hand. Remove from Stamparatus.
  • Mount this piece to the front of card.
  • Next, punch a 2 3/8" circle from the White square. Arrange the curved banner and sun/wave image together on one acrylic block to fit onto punched circle. Ink up with Gray Granite and stamp onto circle. or You can also stamp the banner first, and then the sun/wave image.
  • Color the image with Lemon Lolly and Pool Party Blends as shown. I also burnished Lemon Lolly ink onto "rays" of the image with a small Blending Brush. I also stamped the sentiment in Lost Lagoon ink.
  • Cut a larger Pool Party circle from the Stylish Shapes dies. Mount the image circle to this circle.
  • Loop 1/4" Lost Lagoon ribbon onto back of circles, and then mount onto card front with Dimensionals.
  • Finish with scattered, new Sparkle Gems

So Very Merry Angel on Vellum

I originally envisioned the images from the So Very Merry stamp set embossed on vellum and colored from behind.  I did get one of these versions done! I embossed it in gold, colored the image on the wrong side, and then sandwiched it between 2 circle openings.

Measurements:

  • Thick Basic White: 1/2 sheet, 2 3/4" square (for angel), scrap
  • Bubble Bath (N): scrap
  • Subtles Designer DSP Pack (N): 4" x 5 1/4" Bubble Bath Print
To Make This Card
  • Temporarily adhere the DSP to folded thick White card.
  • Die cut an opening through both layers using the Stylish Shapes Dies.
  • Separate the 2 pieces, and toss the circles.
  • Stamp and emboss in gold the "angel" from the stamp set.
  • Color with Daffodil Delight, Bubble Bath, and Pool Party Blends on the WRONG SIDE as shown.
  • Place adhesive around the opening on the White card base.  Center the embossed image and adhere to the opening.
  • Next, add the Bubble Bath DSP on top.
  • Add a 4" strip of Sheer Bubble Bath ribbon from the new, combo pack to the bottom of the card.
  • Punch scallop oval from Bubble Bath, and smooth oval from White.  Stamp desired sentiment in Bubble Bath ink.
  • Finish with scattered iridescent pearls.
