Carousel Horses Corner Bookmark Card

This month for my monthly Stamp Club, we are exploring the Carousel Horses Bundle from the New Annual Catalog! For Stamp Club, I always create one Basic Card, and one creative or fun fold!  Here is the "creative" card that we will be doing on Saturday.  I used the Bright & Beautiful DSP (that goes on sale Thursday) along with our returning colors - Berry Burst and Fresh Freesia. Before I created this one specifically using the Carousel Horses, I created 2 other ideas designed by Karen Titus.  I will post those later! (they use retired products).  So, Enjoy!!

Measurements:

  • Berry Burst (ret): 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" (base), 3 1/2" x 4 1/2" (layer), 3" square (circle)
  • Fresh Freesia (ret): 3" square (circle)
  • Basic White: 3 1/4" x 6 1/2" (card), scrap
  • Bright & Beautiful DSP (N): 4" x 5 1/4" (one pattern), 5" square (2nd pattern - for bookmark).
To Make This Card:

  Bookmark
  • Take the 5" square of DSP (our 6x6 paper packs are perfect for this card!). Fold it in half, open it up, and then fold it in half, and ope it up again.
  • Next, remove one 2 1/2" square. Throw this piece away.
  • Now, lay this piece flat on a table, and fold the opposing "square" to the center, leaving about 1/4" all the way around it.
  • To finish, fold the 2 remaining "squares" under the diagonal fold. Add adhesive along one bottom fold and secure.
  • Create an "accent" piece, and your "bookmark" is done!
  • For my accent piece, I stamped one of the smaller "Carousel Horses" onto a scrap of white. Stamp the details (too cool, no coloring) and then cut out with corresponding die.
  • I, then, trimmed off the "poles" leaving me with just the "horse".
  • Attach the horse to a Stitched Circle in Fresh Freesia, from the Stylish Shapes dies.  I used the 3rd from the largest for this layer.
  • Lastly, add the circle to the "triangle" of the "bookmark".
  • You'll need to add a "pull" to your "bookmark" so that the recepient knows to remove this piece.  I added a folded 3" piece of ribbon, between the cut edges.  This could also be bakers twine, linen thread, or whatever you have.  I used the White Glitter Ribbon.
  • You'll adhere the front "triangle" to itself, sandwiching the "pull" in between.
Card
  • For the card that the "bookmark" is attached to, fold the White piece in half.  Attach to Berry Burst layer.
  • Cut a Stitched Circle from Berry Burst cardstock.  I used the 2nd from the largest for this layer.
  • Add this to the White card, onto the upper right corner, just missing the cut edges.
  • If desired, add a strip of DSP, from the 6x6 piece to the bottom.
  • Then, add a sentiment right above the strip.
  • To finish the card, attach the 4" x 5 1/4" of DSP to the Berry Burst Card Base.  Then, add the White card.
  • Finish with new, scattered Tinsel Dots.  I also added a strip of DSP to the inside of the White card.

May '23 Demo Meeting Ideas 1

We have a demonstrator meeting 4x a year with local demonstrators.  This is a fun evening of sharing and fellowship, including SWAPS!!  We share completed swaps, as well as a "Shoebox" swap - where we get to make the ideas that others bring for us to make. We have some pretty awesome demos that share their talents.  The great thing is that we get to use/see products that we don't have, that may or may not inspire us to get and share with our customers! So, I will be grouping and sharing some of these for you to see!  I will share info, if I know it!  This first group is a bundle that I totally missed - it's called Timeless Arrangements on p. 67 in the Annual Catalog. It has an awesome "sprig" concept along with fabulous sentiments!  I have already ordered it, so stay tuned!!

This sample also uses the Timeless Arrangements stamps! It is a unique Fun Fold with a corner origami book mark!!  Stay tuned for more on this fold.  I "just" recently found the video on this fold done by Karen Titus - Stampin' on the Backporch - if you'd like to research it before I get to it!

Serene Lazy Days

I love stamp sets that have a lot of pieces that you can use to create multiple scenes! Our new Lazy Days just fits the bill!! I combined several cards I had seen to make my version.  What I wanted to try is blending a soft background in a soft shape, first, and then creating my scene on top of that.  I'm not sure if the oval (a retired die) is what I want for this version, but here it is!  This also uses some of our new colors of Blends and our new Pecan Pie and Azure Afternoon Core Colors!  Can you spot them!

Measurements:

  • Thick Basic White: 1/2 sheet
  • Basic White: 2-1/4 sheets - one for die cut pieces, one for "mask"
To Make This Card:
  • Begin by making a "mask" of your desired "window" shape from one of the 1/4 sheets.  I chose a larger oval from an older set of Stampin' Up! dies.
  • Fold Thick White card base in half.  Line up "mask" where desired. (Option: you could also use the cut out from your mask, add your color to it, and then place the layer on your folded card.)
  • Take Balmy Blue ink and a larger Blending Brush and burnish color onto top half of card.  Continue with Crumb Cake and a different brush.  Less is more here.  You can always go back and add more!
  • Stamp the "chair", "hanging plant", table, and plant in Pecan Pie ink onto scraps of White.  Cut out with corresponding dies.
  • Stamp "rug" in Azure Afternoon and cut out with its' corresponding die.
  • And, lastly, cut out the "rail" and "decorative pillar" (you will NOT use all of the lattice!)
  • I started with the "rug" and built my scene up from there.
  • Note: you might want to plan ahead and decide what you would like dimensional, and cut out with the Dimensional Adhesive Sheet!  I thought of that later!
  • I attached the "rail" and "pillar" next. And, then decorate with whatever pieces you would like.  Don't forget to color them!
  • Lastly, I added a sentiment in Pecan Pie, and a few scattered Brass Butterflies...oops, I forgot to add those.  Well, you know what to do!
  • Inside I added another sentiment in Pecan Pie, and the little table with 2 lemonades!

Lemon Lolly Daisies

I saw this card that I knew I had to make!  Why?  Because it's predominantly our new Core Color - Lemon Lolly!  Lemon Lolly just makes me happy! I was also paired with our returning Core Color, Lost Lagoon, which I have always loved, and our new Radiating Stitched Dies - which I hadn't used, yet.  Don't remember seeing these dies - then check out our Online Exclusives!!  And, the new Cheerful Daisies Bundle just makes this card!

Measurements:

  • Lost Lagoon (N): 1/2 sheet, scraps
  • Wild Wheat (N): 4" x 5 1/4"
  • Lemon Lolly: 1/4 sheet, scraps
  • Basic White: 3" x 4 1/4" (layer), 2 - 1/4 sheets - (daisies) (inside)
To Make This Card:
  • Attach Wild Wheat cardstock to folded Lost Lagoon card base.
  • Die cut largest Stitched Radiating die from Lemon Lolly.  Attach over Wild Wheat.
  • Then, die cut smallest White layer from next Radiating Die.
  • Stamp sentiment in Wild Wheat and adhere to Lemon Lolly layer.
  • Die cut 3 "sprigs" from Lost Lagoon.  Set aside.
  • Die cut one "3 daisy" piece from White, and 3 "detailed daisies" from Lemon Lolly.
  • Carefully cut the 3 "daisies" apart.  You will use 2 for the front.  You can add the remaining "daisy" to the inside, if desired.
  • Next stamp the "centers" in Pebbled Path onto the White Daisy Layer.
  • Adhere Lemon "detail" to the "base daisy" with Green Glue.
  • Attach largest "daisy" to corner of card, as shown, with Dimensionals. Add next "daisy" with Dimensionals as well.
  • Next, tuck in (adhere) sprigs under "daisies", cutting them apart where necessary.
  • For the inside, die cut the largest Scalloped Contour Die from White piece.  Attach inside card.
  • Add remaining "daisy", if desired.  I cut the "leaves" from the 3-Daisy die in Lost Lagoon.
  • Finish with our new Solid Backed Gems.
