Trucking Along Window #2

I originally created my blue version of this card for my Senior Center class! The challenge was I needed enough base paper for 18 cards!!  Retired DSP, Gingham Cottage, to the rescue! I shifted gears to a black base, keeping all the other design elements the same...well, I did change the card "orientation", while I really liked the other version, it kind of confuses them, so I just made it open like a "normal" card!  The challenge now is, how much can they "DO"??

Measurements:

  • Basic White: 1/2 sheet, scraps
  • Country Gingham (ret): 4" x 5 1/4"
To Make This Card

  • Using "green glue", adhere DSP piece to folded White card front.
  • Die cut "window" from front of card using the largest die shown from the Something Fancy Dies. Toss the cut out piece.
  • Stamp "truck" outline through the window in Memento Black ink. Now is the time to add whatever you would like to your truck.. I also "grounded" the truck using the "ground" stamp and stamped off Pecan Pie.
  • Next, stamp another "truck" outline in Memento Black ink onto a scrap of White cardstock. Also, stamp the "truck" Real Red, the tires Memento Black, and sign on the door, if desired.
  • Punch out with Truck Builder Punch and adhere to card, through window with Dimensionals.
  • Now, stamp sentiment in Real Red onto scrap of White cardstock.  Die cut with label  from the new Wonderful Thoughts dies.
  • Attach to card front with Dimensionals.
  • On inside, stamp greeting in Real Red and add a strip of coordinating DSP.
  • Finish with scattered, retired Red Rhinestones.

Pick of the Patch Z Fold

The challenge for me this month for the Senior Center, was to create a "halloween" card that could also just be fall card! A few stampers wanted a "halloween" card and some did not! Whew!!  I wanted to use the Pick of the Patch Bundle, because the pumpkins are so darn cute, but the pumpkin could also be a jack-o-lantern! I also didn't want a bazillion pieces!!  So I found this card that I think foots the bill!  With a few modifications, I think it will satisfy both!

Measurements:

  • Pumpkin Pie: 1/2 sheet
  • Old Olive: 3 1/4" square
  • Basic White: 4" x 5 1/4", 1 7/8" x 5 1/4", 3 " square
  • Glorious Gingham(N): 1 5/8" x 5" (Pecan Pie)
To Make this Card:

  • Fold Pumpkin Pie base in half, and then fold the front back on itself. Crease well.
  • Attach White quarter to "inside" of card.
  • Attach smaller, White strip to front flap, then add the DSP piece.
  • Next, we'll stamp the White square!
  • Stamp the smallest "pumpkin" in the lower left corner in Pumpkin Pie. Next add the "bare tree" in Pecan Pie. Stamp this so the trunk, as shown, so it just misses the cut edge of the square.
  • Now, add the "crow" so her perches on the "limb" as shown.  Lastly, stamp stamped off leaves in Old Olive across the bottom, and over the pumpkin.
  • To finish the small "pumpkin", "mask" the pumpkin, and stamp a "stem" in Pecan Pie and "leaf" in Old Olive.
  • To make the large "pumpkin"/"jack-o-lantern", stamp the largest "pumpkin", stem and leaf onto scrap of White and punch out with Pick of the Patch punch. If desired, add the "jack-o-lantern" face.
  • Adhere the "stem" and "leaf" to the back of the pumpkin.  Then add to square with Dimensionals.
  • Attach this square to the Old Olive layer and then attach the LEFT side of the square to the front flap.
  • If making a "halloween" card, stamp the sentiment, in black on a small piece of White.  Attach to the card, as shown.  Otherwise, select a small sentiment and us it instead.
  • Finish by stamping "leaves" in Old Olive in the corners of the back piece and adding the cute Speckled Dots to the square!

Cheerful Daisies Fractured Card

As I mentioned before, I just love this technique!  So, I was trying to decide which cards to make in class next week and this one was a consideration! (I decided on the other "daisy" card), but I still wanted to share it! This one uses the border piece from the Fresh as a Daisy DSP pack, and I selected one of the daisies for the focal point!

Measurements:

  • Copper Clay (N): 1/2 sheet, 4 strips @ 1/4" x 5"
  • Fresh as a Daisy DSP: 4" x 5 1/4" (border print), 2 1/4" square (with daisy)
  • Basic White: 2 1/2" square
To Make This Card:

  • Die cut 2" White Stitched Square from the Stitched Shapes Dies.
  • Attach this square where desired to the DSP, where desired. DO NOT ADHERE TO FRONT OF CARD, YET.
  • Next, take one 1/4" Copper Clay strip and lay from corner of square, along the cut edge of the square, and off the DSP layer.
  • Then, lay the next strip, butting the end to the previously laid strip, and laying this one also along cut edge and off the DSP.  Repeat until all 4 strips are done.
  • Next, trim off the strips so that they are even with the DSP.
  • NOW, adhere the DSP layer to the folded Copper Clay card.
  • Decide what your focal point is going to be.  I die cut a stitched square from the DSP.  I would suggest trying to place the "daisy" on point so it's right side up!
  • Attach this to the center square.
  • Lastly, adhere the White piece inside. I like to add a strip of coordinating DSP to the inside.

So Very Merry Angel in Lemon Lolly

Here is another version of the angel from So Very Merry, this time in Lemon Lolly. (but could be any color combination) on blue. I loved the doily behind the image so much, that I used it, again!

See how different it looks in blues!

Measurements:

  • Thick Basic White: 1/2 sheet, 4" square (for doily), 2 3/4" square (for angel)
  • Countryside Inn DSP (N): 4" x 5 1/4", cut into 4- 7/8" x 5 1/2" strips
To Make This Card
  • Adhere the DSP strips to the folded thick White card.  I started with the 2 outside strips, and then centered the 2 middle strips.
  • Die cut the larger doily die from White square.  I did not emobss this, but you could. Attach to card front.
  • Stamp and emboss in silver the "angel" from the stamp set. Punch out with coordinating 2 3/8" punch.
  • Color with Lemon Lolly, Petal Pink, and Balmy Blue Blends as shown.  Attach over doily with Dimensionals. For the blue version I used Balmy Blue, Boho Blue and Lemon Loilly Blends. I left the wings white.

Hello Irresistible Fractured Card #2

I still had a couple of die cut pieces from the Hello Irresistible DSP on my table, so I decided to make another Fractured Card.  I just LOVE these!  This one uses a die cut stitched square that I added more off center than centered, which left me room for a nice sentiment. I also used the lighter colors in the DSP, which makes such a different look! Enjoy!

Measurements:

  • Soft Sea Foam: 1/2 sheet, 4 strips @ 1/4" x 5"
  • Hello Irresistible: 4" x 5 1/4" & 1/2" x 4", one, large die cut coral flower, 2 die cut leaves
  • Basic White: 2 1/4" square, 1 1/2" x 2" (sentiment), 4" x 5 1/4" (inside)
To Make This Card:

  • Die cut 2" Stitched Square from the Stitched Shapes Dies.
  • Attach this square where desired to the DSP, where desired. Mine is a little higher. DO NOT ADHERE TO FRONT OF CARD, YET.
  • Next, take one 1/4" Soft Sea Foam strip and lay from corner of square, along the cut edge of the square, and off the DSP layer.
  • Then, lay the next strip, butting the end to the previously laid strip, and laying this one also along cut edge and off the DSP.  Repeat until all 4 strips are done.
  • Next, trim off the strips so that they are even with the DSP.
  • NOW, adhere the DSP layer to the folded Soft Sea Foam card.
  • Decide what your focal point is going to be.  I used a coral flower, popped up with Dimensionals, then tucked under the 2 leaves cut from the Lost Lagoon DSP.
  • Lastly, adhere the White piece inside. I like to add a strip of coordinating DSP to the inside.
  • Stamp sentiment in Soft Sea Foam ink and die cut with new, Nested Essentials Dies. Attach to card, as shown, with Dimensionals.
