Double Vision Sunset Coast

I just love this new, Double Vision technique! It is particularly stunning with a scenic DSP, just over the top with our new Scenic Coast Specialty DSP (check out the iridescence). I'm also always on the lookout for unique dies, and the dies in the Sunset Coast Bundle are just that - unique! This sample, I went back to the lower Dimensional "edges" for the popped up pieces. I DO think I like that effect the best! You need to give this technique a try!

Measurements:

Blueberry Bushel: 1/2 sheet, 4" x 5 1/4" (mounting piece); 3 1/4" x 4"
Basic White: 4" x 5 1/4", scrap
Scenic Coast DSP (N): 1 - 6"x 6" sheet

To Make This Card:

Look at your "scenic" DSP piece and decide which area you might want to use, first. Note: you could die cut the "focal point" layer first, and use it to check it out. And, then trim this piece to 4" x 5 1/4".
Take this DSP piece and cut it into 8 - 1/2" strips. Make sure as you cut you keep them in order!
Begin with the farthest LEFT piece and adhere it directly to the Blueberry Bushel "mounting" piece. I would suggest using Multipurpose Glue for these pieces, too.
Then, LAY the next into place, for spacing, and adhere the next, third, piece.
Continue with "placeholder" and adhered piece until 4 pieces are on your card base.
Now, for the OTHER 4 pieces. These will be popped up! I used the outside edges of my Dimensional sheet.
Before you line these up and pop them into place, put Multipurpose Glue on top of the adhesive of the Dimensionals to help you slide them into place without them grabbing so fast! Isn't that neat!
I started from the LEFT, again, lined up the pattern, and adhered them into place!
Sit back and admire the effect!
Now, you can adhere this piece to the folded Blueberry Bushel card base.
Next, I die cut the "sailboat" die near to top of the "focal point" layer. Emboss the sentiment in White below this opening. Or, if you prefer, you can emboss first, and then die cut the image.
I added this to the front of the card.
Now, die cut the 3 "seagulls" in White. Add them wherever you think you need them.
Finish the inside with a 1/2" strip cut from the leftovers of your DSP. I also stamped a sentiment and the 2 little "sailboats" in Blueberry Bushel ink.
I didn't add any additional embellishments, the paper is just so gorgeous!

Lemon Lolly Sunflowers Reverse Blackout Technique

I recently had time to experiment with this gorgeous, new embossing folder, Sunflower, in the Online Store! There are SO MANY things that you can do with it!! Many of them fun and easy techniques! So, stay tuned! This technique, called a "Reverse Blackout Technique", is probably the most popular use of this embossing folder, at the moment! It utilizes our Blends for coloring, and then a darker ink pad for the background. But the main thing is that you work with, what I consider, the WRONG side of the embossed image. I experimented with different colors of "backgrounds" to emboss. This one is Lemon Lolly, and probably has the most "coloring". I also liked the brighter, lighter effect the Lemon Lolly creates with the Early Espresso background. I will share some of my other examples later! You'll want to add this folder to your collection! There's so much you can do!!

Measurements:

Early Espresso: 1/2 sheet cut LENGTHWISE
Crushed Curry: 4" x 5 1/4"
Lemon Lolly: 3 3/4" x 5"
Very Vanilla: 4" x 5 1/4", scrap

To Make This Card:

Decide what area of the Sunflower Embossing Folder that you would like to use. This is one of our larger, 5" x 7" folders, so there is a lot to choose from.
Now, take this piece and flip it over to the "wrong/debossed" side. This step can either be done before or after doing some "highlight" coloring. Note: I find that coloring before, with this embossing folder, helps you see where the leaves are!
Decide what color ink you prefer for the background, and drag it over the cardstock, tipping the ink pad, so you are just using a "flat edge". If you feel the need to darken the color, try lightly circling the ink color.
Now, you have a "road map" for coloring, with Blends. I colored the "leaves" in Granny Apple Green. I did use both shades, but you wouldn't need to.
Then, I colored the flower "centers" with Pecan Pie, with the darkest color at the very center.
And, finally, I added a little more color to the flower "petals" with a Daffodil Delight Blend.
Layer the Sunflower piece, with the Crushed Curry piece and adhere to folded Early Espresso card. Also, add the Vanilla layer to the inside.
For the sentiment, I stamped the words in Early Espresso ink onto a scrap of Very Vanilla cardstock, and cut out with one of the shapes on the More Messages die.
I, then popped that up with Mini Dimensionals and adhered to card front with a small Linen Thread bow.

Scenic Panoramic Accordion Cards

There are so many things that you can do with our Scenic DSP's! They can make card making fast, fun, and easy...and oh, so beautiful! This is an example of just that. This inspiration comes from Tami White. She has created several samples using these directions and the Beautiful Gallery DSP. For me, the biggest "issue" is that it uses 2 of the same pattern of DSP papers, which makes it difficult to make in a class! So, please enjoy it here, and try it for yourself!

Measurements:

Mossy Meadow: 5 1/2" x 11"
Basic White: 2 pcs @ 1 5/8" x 5 3/8", scrap
Beautiful Gallery (N): 2 6" x 6" pcs - same pattern

To Make This Card:

Score the Mossy Meadow card base at 1 3/4" - 3 1/2" - 5 1/4" - 7. Accordion fold, crease well, and set aside.
In order to have a continuous scene, cut the 2 sheets of DSP, as follows.
First trim both pieces to 5 3/8" wide. With the first sheet, cut from the left side 2 pcs @ 1 5/8" (set aside, in order). (You will not need the rest of this sheet)
Now, take the 2nd sheet and cut from the right side 3 7/8". (You will not need the rest of this sheet, either).
Start with the first piece removed, and place on far left panel, then add a White strip, then the next piece from the first sheet, then a White strip, and lastly the largest piece of DSP.
Close it into place, and you still have an awesome panoramic card!
Finish with a message of your choice from the More Messages stamps & die, and scattered Pressed Flower Motifs.

Highlighted Glass & Gardens EF with Impressions Abloom

I initially totally missed this set of embossing folders recently released in the Online Store. They are called Glass & Gardens and are just beautiful...and easy to miss! Patty Bennett highlighted the floral folder with ink and blending brushes, and then added several flowers from the Impressions Abloom stamp set, also in the Online Store. Pick a color palette and you have so many possibilities!

Measurements:

Strawberry Slush (N): 1/2 sheet
Granny Apple Green Two-Tone paper (N): scraps
Garden Green Two-Tone paper (N): scraps
Basic White: 2 pcs @ 4" x 5 1/4" (one for the inside), scraps

To Make This Card:

Emboss the White, front layer with the "rose" embossing folder from the Glass & Gardens Embossing Folders, placing the image near the bottom of the piece.
Starting with Strawberry Slush ink, burnish a little color on the right side of the piece. Continue with Timid Tiger, overlapping just a bit into the pink, and then finish with Darling Duck, also overlapping it into the orange.
Now, you can adhere it to the folded Strawberry Slush card base.
Now, for the flowers. Stamp one larger flower detail in Strawberry Slush, and one in Poppy Parade (or any color palette you like). Then, stamp off Strawberry Slush ink with the solid stamp for each flower. Finish with Smoky Slate centers and Wink of Stella.
I also repeated the Poppy Parade combination in a small flower. Set aside.
Die cut the "fillers - large & small" in the 2, two-tone green paper. (You can pick and chose as you make the card.)
Practice arranging flowers where desired. I started with the darker flower, adding a "filler" and attaching, flush, to card. I added "fillers" to the lighter, large flower and added to the card with Dimensionals. Then, I tucked a smaller "filler" and small flower underneath. Take a look and see if it needs anything else.
Stamp sentiment in Strawberry Slush.
Finish inside by adding a small flower/filler, if desired.
Finish card with Flat Pearl (ret) Centers and scattered Pink Gems
