Delicate Forest Faux Center Step

Oh, my, this gorgeous card took me a while to figure out, but was well worth it, don't you think! And, again, it wasn't all that difficult to do so.  The tricky part, was getting it to fit into an standard envelope!  It utilizes that gorgeous tree arch from the Delicate Forest Dies, the creamy Vanilla color, with a touch of Petal Pink.  Love the use of the new Everyday Details circle die for the sentiment!

Measurements:

  • Very Vanilla: 4 1/4" x 8 1/2" sheet (base), 3 1/2" x 8 1/2" (step), 1/4 sheet (die cut), scrap
  • Forever Love DSP (N): 3 1/4" x 5 1/4
To Make This Card:

  • Score "base" along 8 1/2" side at 1" - 2" - 5 1/4". Accordion fold as shown. Crease well with bone folder.
  • If desired, die cut "border" strip from the Everyday Details Dies, on front of "base".
  • Next, take the "step" strip and score along the 8 1/2" at 5 1/2". Crease well.
  • Attach the DSP to the longer panel.
  • To attach to "base". flip the "step" over and place Tear Tape at both ends of the piece, (wrong sides).
  • Attach the bottom, front first. Remove the tape backing, center the piece on the "step", line up with the bottom, cut edge, and adhere.
  • To adhere the back, fold the card "base" into position, turn the entire card over, remove the backing from the remaining Tear Tape, and fold and adhere the back into position.  Voila, the main part of the card is completed!
  • Die cut the "tree arch" from the Delicate Forest Dies in the center of the 1/4 sheet of Very Vanilla. Remove all the pieces, and push out all the dimensional leaves.
  • Attach this to the card with Foam Adhesive Strips, along the bottom (I used 2 layers), and at the very top, only, creating some nice dimension!
  • Now, die cut smaller circle from the Everyday Details Dies, stamp desired sentiment in Petal Pink ink, and attach to center of "arch" with Dimensionals.
  • Finish with Petal Pink knot, and scattered Champagne Rhinestones.

Blended Delicate Forest

The awesome black "silhouette" of this die is a given! The challenge is deciding what to put behind it!  I have seen so many options online.  I decided to try one with a "blended" background.  I saw this one and decided to give it a try!  The only thing I would differently is the deeping the colors of the blended background!  You need to give this technique a try!

Measurements:

  • Azure Afternoon (N): 1/2 sheet
  • Basic Black: 4" x 5 1/4"
  • Basic White: 2 pcs @ 4" x 5 1/4" (one for inside)
To Make This Card:

  • Begin by creating "blended" background.  I only used 2 colors of ink, and Blending Brushes.
  • I started by adding the Azure Afternoon at the top, bringing the color down maybe 1/3 of the way, making it darker at the top, and fading as I went lower,  I also added the ink in an arch.
  • Next, switch to Crushed Curry, and repeat for the bottom, leaving a little white just above center and blending the yellow into the blue creating a green color!
  • Center the "tree arch" die from the Delicate Forest Dies on the Black layer and die cut.
  • Some of the "leaves" are attached, so poke those out with a pokey tool, if desired.
  • Now, go back to the blended piece. Create the "foliage" at the bottom, stamp off the "shrubs" from the Delicate Forest stamps along the bottom, leaving room for your sentiment. I also wanted some higher branches, and utilized the "tree" for that. How do you decide if you have enough?  I laid my die cut arch over it until I was happy with the results.
  • Now, you can attach this piece to the folded Azure Afternoon card.
  • Once attached, you can now determine where your sentiment will go.  Mine is from the Circle Sayings stamp set in the Annual Catalog.
  • Finish with black Sparkle Gems.

Delicate Forest Tri-Fold

What an awesome way to use the new Delicate Forest Bundle! This idea utilizes this gorgeous arched tree die with the equally gorgeous Online Exclusive Meandering Meadows DSP! I used Amy Koender's idea of making it with a tri-fold!  It took a while to figure out, but actually quite easy to do!  We will be making this one in my February Class!

Measurements:

  • Garden Green: 1/2 sheet
  • Basic White: 4" x 5 1/4" (inside)
  • Night of Navy: scrap
  • Meandering Meadows DSP: 4 1/4" x 5 1/4" (one with a path)
To Make This Card:

  • Fold Garden Green card in half.  Die cut "tree arch" from front of card, making sure the die is centered! Note: not all the "leaves" are removed, some you can pull forward for some dimension!
  • Stamp "shrub" in Garden Green ink, on lower right corner of White, inside piece.
  • Score the DSP at 1/4" from RIGHT side. Crease well.
  • Place Tear n Tape along wrong side of 1/4" area.  Wrap around White inside layer, and then attach to inside card. The DSP has no backing, and will open to the right.
  • Stamp and emboss sentiment in White onto strip of Night of Navy.  Die cut with die from bundle.  Attach to card as shown.
  • Finish with scattered Brass Butterflies.
