Fluffy Friends Diagonal Cut Fold

I saw a version of this card and thought it would be PERFECT for my class I had last month in Springfield, as it showcased some new products!! They loved it, and I do, too!  We'll have to do it in my class, here!  It uses a piece of diagonal-cut piece of cardstock, some coordinating birthday-themed stamps from several sets, and highlights a new punch!

Measurements:

  • Basic Black: full sheet cut in half DIAGONALLY
  • Basic White: 4" x 5 1/4" (cut diagonally into 2 pieces, you'll need only 1), scraps
  • Sweet Sorbet (N): 2 1/2" x 8 1/2" strip
  • Bee Mine Valentine DSP: 4" x 5 1/4" (small hearts), 1/2" x 4" strip
To Make This Card:

  • Cut full sheet of cardstock in half Diagonally.  (this design makes 2 cards).
  • You can fold by either folding points into place an creasing with a bone folder, or you can place into a paper trimmer or score board and score the lines at 4 1/4" and 5 1/2" and then creasing with bone folder.
  • Attach White quarter to inside of card, as well as the strip of DSP.
  • Run White diagonal piece through "cross hatch" embossing folder, from the Basics 3D embossing folder in the Online Exclusive Store. Be aware of which side of the piece you are embossing.  Attach to corresponding front.
  • Next, cut DSP at a diagonal as well. Double check which direction (diagonal) you need to cut this piece so it matches the cut on the card front.
  • Now, attach DSP to correct diagonal piece.  It will have a 1/16" -1/8" border.  Note: be aware of any directional patterns! (I try to avoid them).
  • Now, to decorate!
  • Stamp 3 "hexagon borders" in Memento black onto strip of Sweet Sorbet cardstock. Punch out with corresponding, (new) punch!
  • On one, stamp the sentiment from the Heartfelt Hexagon stamp set in Memento Black.
  • For the other two, I stamped the "bunny" from the Fluffiest Friends (Online Exclusive) and "cupcake" from the Circle Sayings in the Annual Catalog.
  • Color as shown with Blends.
  • The "bunny" can be die cut, the "cupcake" you will need to fussy cut.
  • I attached both to a punched image with Dimensionals.
  • Now,to attach to the card. I attached the first one to the top, so that the top point is even with the fold, and the outside edge even with the other fold.  I repeated for the bottom piece with the "cupcake".
  • The "words" should fit in between! (adjust if necessary)
  • Open the top flap and lightly make a pencil mark showing the diagonal. This will guide you for the inside sentiment placement.
  • Open up the other flap, and stamp sentiment in Memento Black. I also added 2 Sweet Sorbet hearts.
  • Erase the pencil mark with the ink is dry.
  • Finish with a little Wink of Stella on the images, and 3 Pearl Neutrals Sequins on the sentiment.

Simple Circle Sayings Card

This is another, simplier version of my previous card using the Circle Sayings and Rays of Light stamps.

Measurements:

  • Lost Lagoon (ret): 1/2 sheet cut LENGTHWISE
  • Pool Party: 4" x 5 1/4", 3" square
  • Lemon Lolly (N): 3 3/4" x 5"
  • Basic White: 4" x 5 1/4", 2 3/4" square
  • Lost Lagoon DSP: 1/2" x 5 1/4" strip
To Make This Card
  • Fold card in half lengthwise.  Attach Pool Party Layer on top.
  • Next, I placed the Rays of Light stamp onto my Stamparatus. Ink it up with Lemon Lolly ink. I laid the Lemon Lolly cardstock directly onto the stamp, so the center of the rays were a little to the right.  Close the Stamparatus and flip it all over. Then press evenly with your hand. Remove from Stamparatus.
  • Mount this piece to the front of card.
  • Next, punch a 2 3/8" circle from the White square. Arrange the curved banner and sun/wave image together on one acrylic block to fit onto punched circle. Ink up with Gray Granite and stamp onto circle. or You can also stamp the banner first, and then the sun/wave image.
  • Color the image with Lemon Lolly and Pool Party Blends as shown. I also burnished Lemon Lolly ink onto "rays" of the image with a small Blending Brush. I also stamped the sentiment in Lost Lagoon ink.
  • Cut a larger Pool Party circle from the Stylish Shapes dies. Mount the image circle to this circle.
  • Loop 1/4" Lost Lagoon ribbon onto back of circles, and then mount onto card front with Dimensionals.
  • Finish with scattered, new Sparkle Gems

Circle Sayings Side Pull Out Card

I needed to get back to work card making for my Monthly Club Meeting on Saturday! The hostess suggested Circle Sayings for our project. I hadn't used the image with the sun and waves, yet, so I wanted to make a card with that, pairing it with the background stamp,Rays of Light. My inspiration/color combination comes from fellow demonstrator,  Amy Koenders.  I just loved these colors together! The toughest part was punching through 2 layers of cardstock!  I love how it turned out!

Measurements:

  • Lost Lagoon (ret): 1/2 sheet cut LENGTHWISE
  • Pool Party: 4" x 5 1/4", 2 5/8" square, scrap
  • Lemon Lolly (N): 3 3/4" x 5"
  • Basic White: 5 1/4" x 8 1/8", 2 3/8" square, scrap
  • Lost Lagoon DSP: 1/2" x 5 1/4" strip
To Make This Card
  • Fold card in half lengthwise.  Attach Pool Party Layer on top.
  • Take new 2 3/8" circle punch, insert all the way into both layers of cardstock until it won't go any more, and  also punching about 3/4" from the top fold. Squeeze the punch good and hard. Set aside.
  • Now, temporarily place the Lemon Lolly piece in place over the Pool Party layer. Flip all over, take a pencil and draw around the the opening for circle placement on the Lemon piece! Remove the Lemon Lolly piece, flip it over so that you can see the pencil mark, and punch!
  • Next, I placed the Rays of Light stamp onto my Stamparatus. Ink it up with Lemon Lolly ink. Lay the opening of the Lemon Lolly piece so that the "center" of the "rays" are in the hole of the punched circle. Press firmly onto stamp.  Close the Stamparatus and flip it all over. Then press evenly with your hand. Remove from Stamparatus.
  • Mount this piece to the front of card.  Trim if necessary.  There were a couple of places that were a little rough in my circle opening.  I just sanded a bit with a nail file!
  • Now, take the inside, white cardstock. Create a "Z" fold by folding the cardstock in half, and then fold the front back on itself, creating that "Z" fold. Crease well.
  • Adhere this piece to the inside of the card, so that the "Z" is on the Right. (A little different than usual.
  • Punch a 2 3/8" circle from Pool Party.
  • Next, stamp the "sun/wave" image in Gray Granite onto small White square. Die cut with a stitched circle from the Stylish Shapes dies that is a little smaller than the Pool Party layer.
  • Color the image with Lemon Lolly and Pool Party Blends as shown. I also burnished Lemon Lolly ink onto "rays" of the image with a small Blending Brush.
  • Attach this to the Pool party circle.
  • Now, close the card into place with the White "Z" fold showning through the "circle window".
  • Place adhesive on the exposed White showing through the "circle window". Line up circle image in the circle opening and press into place!
  • To finish, you can add a sentiment to the front as well. I stamped the "Happy Birthday" in the set in Lost Lagoon onto scrap of White.  Punch out from the Double Ovals Punch and mount onto the coordinating Pool Party layer. Attach to card front with Dimensionals.
  • I embellished with Iridescent Pastel Gems on the outside, and a strip of Lost Lagoon DSP on the inside.
