I needed to get back to work card making for my Monthly Club Meeting on Saturday! The hostess suggested Circle Sayings for our project. I hadn't used the image with the sun and waves, yet, so I wanted to make a card with that, pairing it with the background stamp,Rays of Light. My inspiration/color combination comes from fellow demonstrator, Amy Koenders. I just loved these colors together! The toughest part was punching through 2 layers of cardstock! I love how it turned out!
Measurements:
- Lost Lagoon (ret): 1/2 sheet cut LENGTHWISE
- Pool Party: 4" x 5 1/4", 2 5/8" square, scrap
- Lemon Lolly (N): 3 3/4" x 5"
- Basic White: 5 1/4" x 8 1/8", 2 3/8" square, scrap
- Lost Lagoon DSP: 1/2" x 5 1/4" strip
To Make This Card
- Fold card in half lengthwise. Attach Pool Party Layer on top.
- Take new 2 3/8" circle punch, insert all the way into both layers of cardstock until it won't go any more, and also punching about 3/4" from the top fold. Squeeze the punch good and hard. Set aside.
- Now, temporarily place the Lemon Lolly piece in place over the Pool Party layer. Flip all over, take a pencil and draw around the the opening for circle placement on the Lemon piece! Remove the Lemon Lolly piece, flip it over so that you can see the pencil mark, and punch!
- Next, I placed the Rays of Light stamp onto my Stamparatus. Ink it up with Lemon Lolly ink. Lay the opening of the Lemon Lolly piece so that the "center" of the "rays" are in the hole of the punched circle. Press firmly onto stamp. Close the Stamparatus and flip it all over. Then press evenly with your hand. Remove from Stamparatus.
- Mount this piece to the front of card. Trim if necessary. There were a couple of places that were a little rough in my circle opening. I just sanded a bit with a nail file!
- Now, take the inside, white cardstock. Create a "Z" fold by folding the cardstock in half, and then fold the front back on itself, creating that "Z" fold. Crease well.
- Adhere this piece to the inside of the card, so that the "Z" is on the Right. (A little different than usual.
- Punch a 2 3/8" circle from Pool Party.
- Next, stamp the "sun/wave" image in Gray Granite onto small White square. Die cut with a stitched circle from the Stylish Shapes dies that is a little smaller than the Pool Party layer.
- Color the image with Lemon Lolly and Pool Party Blends as shown. I also burnished Lemon Lolly ink onto "rays" of the image with a small Blending Brush.
- Attach this to the Pool party circle.
- Now, close the card into place with the White "Z" fold showning through the "circle window".
- Place adhesive on the exposed White showing through the "circle window". Line up circle image in the circle opening and press into place!
- To finish, you can add a sentiment to the front as well. I stamped the "Happy Birthday" in the set in Lost Lagoon onto scrap of White. Punch out from the Double Ovals Punch and mount onto the coordinating Pool Party layer. Attach to card front with Dimensionals.
- I embellished with Iridescent Pastel Gems on the outside, and a strip of Lost Lagoon DSP on the inside.
