Storybook Friends Band Stand Card

I'd been seeing cards with this fold and decided to investigate. It's called a Band Stand Card, because it does look like a gazebo-like band stand. (I used to play in one at City Band in Oskaloosa!) It really is easier than it looks, and there is so much inspiration out there!  This is a version of one created by Susan Campfield (no surprise!). That little frame from the Storybook Friends Dies fits just perfectly on the center section/focal point! And, the neat thing is, it folds flat into a standard envelope.

Measurements:

  • Basic Beige: 4 1/2" x 5 3/8" (base), 2 pcs @ 1 1/4" x 7" (bands), 3 5/8" x 4 1/8" (back), 2"  x 3" (frame insert)
  • Calypso Coral: 2 1/4" x 3 3/4" (frame), 3 3/4" x 4 3/8" (back)
  • Storybook Moments (N): 4 3/8" x 5 1/8" (cottages), die cut critter
  • Timeless Plaid (N): 2 pcs @ 1 1/8" x 1 7/8" (centers), 4 pcs @ 1 1/8" x 1 5/8", 2 pcs @ 5/8" x 4 5/8" (back flaps) 1/2" x 3 5/8" strip (back) (coordinating plaid of your choice)
To Make This Card:
  • Score Basic Beige "base" at 3/4" from each end (this does work just fine). Lightly crease.
  • If your background DSP for the base is a continual image, (or even if it's not), cut 5/8" off either side of the larger DSP piece.
  • Adhere to the base, keeping the trimmed pieces in order, if necessary. (Make sure they fit well, before adhering! Set aside.
  • Now, take the 2 "bands". Score each one @ 3/4" - 2 1/2" - 4 1/2" - 6 1/4". Crease all in "mountain" folds.
  • Next, lay out the small DSP pieces that will go on the bands. The 2 slightly larger pieces go on the center sections. Then the 2 smaller sections on each side.  The 2 end sections will be bare. Adhere to bands.
  • Now, you'll adhere the bands to the "base".
  • The end flaps will attach to the back side flaps of the base, essentially wrapping them to the back, even with the top and bottom edges.  I used Tear n Tape so that they held better, and I didn't have to wait for them to dry!
  • Now the Band Stand Base is done!
  • For the focal point. I die cut the longer "frame" from the Storybook Friends Dies from Calypso Coral. Die cut the "center" from the die in Basic Beige. I scotch taped it into place.
  • Add the "frame" to the front of the "bands" with Dimensionals.  To do this, I just put the dimensionals on the center edges of the bands and THEN added the frame.
  • Next, select a die cut and add to frame with Dimensionals.
  • Finish front with  Antique Pearls.
  • For the back, layer the pieces together, then add to the back.  Add strip to the bottom.
  • And, lastly, add the strips of DSP to the side back flaps, over the band "wraps".

Storybook Friends Oval Tri-Fold Card

I saw this card by Amy Koenders some time back.  It's blue gingham, has an oval, and a cute bunny, what's not to love! Interestingly the center oval cut out is from the Linked Together dies.  Not an exact fit, but it works! I'll be doing this card at my monthly Stamp Club!

Measurements:

  • Boho Blue: 1/2 sheet, 3" x 4 1/4" (frame)
  • Basic White: 4" x 5 1/4" (inside), 2 1/4" x 3" (frame center)
  • Adhesive Sheet: 3" x 4 1/4"
  • Timeless Plaid (N):4" x 5 1/4" (Boho Gingham)
  • Storybook Moments (N): 4 1/2" x 5 1/4", 1/2" x 4" (strawberry print)
To Make This Card:
  • Adhere Boho Blue Gingham DSP piece to folded Boho Blue card.
  • Die cut Oval from Linked Together Dies from center of card, through both layers.
  • Place Adhesive Sheet onto Boho Blue frame piece. Die cut Oval Frame from Storybook Friends Dies from this piece of cardstock. Set aside.
  • Take Strawberry DSP piece and score at 1/2" along 5 1/4" side. Crease well.
  • Place adhesive on wrong, right side of White inside layer.  Wrap DSP around right cut edge and adhere to adhesive. Fold well and trim if necessary.
  • Attach to inside of Boho Blue card.
  • Die cut Oval from White piece.  Stamp "wall" in Memento Black ink. Color with Blends.
  • Burnish a little Boho Blue ink above the "wall" and Crumb Cake ink below the "wall" with small Blending Brush.
  • Close card front over tri-fold, exposing DSP through the oval "window'. Adhere this stamped oval through the "window" and onto the DSP.
  • Open card.  Place a silicone sheet inside card so shows through "window". Remove backing from "frame" and center on "window", lining up as best as possible. (I prefer this to Green Glue, however, some adhesive will show through the wrong side of the "window".) Remove stickiness with an embossing buddy or adhesive eraser.
  • Finish card by adding strip of DSP on the inside White piece.
  • Select die cut of your choice, that fits in the "window" and add to oval with Dimensionals.
  • Finish front with small bow of White Seam Binding ribbon, and scattered Antique Pearls.

Storybook Friends Side Tower Pop Up Card

I've been wanting to try this fold for a while.  It's called a Side Tower Pop Up Card. I did one many years ago!  So much fun to create, and the best thing is it fits easily into an A2 envelope! This one is a "Becky Original" inspired by one, a Petal Pink version, by Susan Campfield (which I'll include below).  Mine uses Lost Lagoon paired with DSP from the Storybook Moments and Timeless Plaid papers. There wasn't a small enough die cut critter to fit in the frame as I'd like, so this one is stamped and colored with blends! You really need to give this one a try!

Measurements:

  • Lost Lagoon:: 1/4 sheet, 4 1/4" x 5" (tower), 3 1/2" x 6" (pop up)
  • Pool Party: 3 3/8" x 3 7/8" (pop up), 4" x 5 1/4" (back)
  • Mossy Meadow: 3 3/4" x 5" (back), 3 1/4" x 3 3/4" (pop up)
  • Timeless Plaid (N): 3" x 3 1/2" (pop up), 1/2" x 3 3/4" strip
  • Storybook Moments (N): 2 pcs @ 7/8" x 4 1/8" (tower), 1 1/2" x 4 1/8" (right side)
  • Basic White: 3" x 3 1/4" (frame), scrap
To Make This Card:
  • Score the "tower" piece at 1" - 2" - 3" - 4". Crease well, making all creases "mountain" folds! (This will create 5 - 1" sections).
  • Place Tear n Tape on last 1" section, and adhere together, making "tower". Once, formed, lay flat (it WILL lay better one direction), and place Tear n Tape on one of the other 1" sections. Remove backing, and attach to "postcard" base placing folded edge with the Tear n Tape even to cut edge.
  • Adhere DSP pieces to "outside" tower pieces.
  • Score the "pop up" piece at 1" - 2". Crease well. These are both "mountain" folds as well.
  • Place Tear n Tape on the last 1" section of the "pop up".
  • Now, pop the "tower" into place. Flatten the 2 "pop up" sections of the "pop up" piece back behind top.
  • Next, line up the left, cut edge of the "pop up" to the crease of the tower, as shown. lay flat, into mailing mode, and stick back piece into place.
  • Now, place Tear n Tape on the wrong side of the left edge, and adhere this to the "tower". And, voila!
  • Now, you can add the last DSP strip to the right side of the card base.
  • Layer all the "pop up" pieces together and add to "pop up" piece.
  • Die cut square "frame" from White piece.  Add to "pop up" piece with Adhesive Strips.
  • Stamp small bunny in Memento Black.  Color with Blends, and die cut with corresponding die.  Add inside "frame" with Dimensionals.
  • Now, for the back. Layer all 3 layers together and adhere to the back.  Add decorative strip of DSP, and stamp sentiment on the back.
  • To finish, wrap Pool Party ribbon around tower and tie in a knot. Also, scatter Antique Pearls on the inside of the frame.
