Peaceful Garden Corner Bookmark Card

So, I found this card idea on a reel as I was surfing on Facebook! And, then it was gone!  This is an "Oldie But Goodie" that we haven't done in a while!  The original one  I saw, and shared, was made by Karen Titus from Stampin' on the Back Porch! This one uses the Peaceful Garden DSP and the lovely dove from the Peace on Earth Dies. Of course, I did my own thing to come up with my version.  These are so fun to make, and practical/useful, too!!

Measurements:

  • Secret Sea (N): 1/4" sheet (base). scrap (dove)
  • Cloud Cover (N): 4 1/4" x 6 1/2" (mini card-for bookmark)
  • Peaceful Garden Glimmer Paper (N): 2 3/4" square (circle)
  • Basic White: 2 3/8" square (circle)
  • Peaceful Garden DSP (N): 4" x 5 1/4" (doves), 5" square, 3/4" x 3"  (2nd pattern - for bookmark, front of card).
To Make This Card:

  Bookmark
  • Take the 5" square of DSP (our 6x6 paper packs are perfect for this card!). Fold it in half, open it up, and then fold it in half, and open it up again.
  • Next, remove one 2 1/2" square. Throw this piece away.
  • Now, lay this piece flat on a table, and fold the opposing "square" to the center, leaving about 1/4" all the way around it. (Note: I didn't leave any border around mine, as I didn't particularly care for the back side of the DSP,  but then it lines up in the Glitter Circle a little differently)
  • To finish, fold the 2 remaining "squares" under the diagonal fold. Add adhesive along one bottom fold and secure.
  • Before securing the diagonal piece, add a small piece of ribbon to aid in removing the "bookmark". Then adhere together.
  • Create an "accent" piece, and your "bookmark" is done!
  • For this one, I die cut a White circle from the Stylish Shapes. Select the size that best fits your "bookmark".
  • Then, I added a Secret Sea "half" dove with a glitter "olive branch".
  • Next, add the circle to the top half of your "bookmark".
Card
  • For the base, adhere the DSP piece. Set aside.
  • Then, for the mini card that the "bookmark" is attached to, fold the Cloud Cover piece in half.
  • Die cut a larger circle from the Secret Set Glimmer paper.  Adhere to the upper right corner for the mini card.  Check to see if the White circle on the book mark somewhat lines up! Then, press into place.
  • Add the DSP piece to the bottom of the mini card front, then stamp sentiment in Secret Sea ink.
  • Now, you can add the mini card to the card base.
  • Finish the outside with a few Hues of Blue Flowers.

Traditions of Christmas Never Ending Card

Some time back, several of my customers requested that they make a "Never Ending Card".  So, I decided that this would be one of my projects for my Club Christmas Party! In doing some research, I've discovered that over time, probably since the last time I taught this, there are several new twists on this oldie. So, stay tuned...  This one, however, is the "traditional" version that will fit into an A2 envelope.  It IS different, in that the "working panels" are to coordinating colors, instead of all one color. So, I designed this Christmas version just for them!  Yes, it's a "Becky Original"! I do love how it turned out!  These really are a lot of fun to do, and actually pretty easy, too!

Measurements:

  • Real Red: 1/4 sheet
  • Bubble Bath: 1/4 sheet
  • Gold Foil: FRONT ONLY: 2 pcs @ 2" x 2 5/8", 4 pcs @ 1 1/4" x 2", scrap (label)
  • Traditional Christmas DSP (N) (MC): FRONT: 2 pcs @ 1 7/8" x 2 1/2" (red poinsettia), 4 pcs @ 1 1/8" x 2 1/2" (pink dot); NEXT: 2 pcs @ 2" x 2 5/8" (pink poinsettia); NEXT: 2 pcs @ 2" x 2 5/8" (red poinsettia), 4 pcs @ 7/8"x 1 1/4" (pink poinsettia), BACK: 1 pc @ 2" x 2 5/8" (pink poinsettia)
  • Gathering Together DSP (N) (OE):4 pcs @ 7/8" x 1 1/4", 4 pcs @ 7/8" x 2 5/8" (green & gold stripe)
  • Basic White: 1 7/8" x 2" (NOEL), 2" x 2 1/2" (BACK, to write on), scraps
To Make This Card:
  • We'll begin with the card "mechanism".  Then, I'll guide you through decorating, which will really have many options, depending on your "theme"!
  • Score the Real Red piece, along the 4 1/4" side @ 1 3/8" from each end. Turn this piece in the cutter 90 degrees and cut in half @ 2 1/8". Set both pieces aside.
  • Score the Bubble Bath piece, along the 5 1/2" side @ 1 1/16" from each end. Turn this piece and cut in half @ 2 3/4".
  • To crease along score lines or not.  It doesn't make any difference, but I think if you crease now, you will know where to put the Tear n Tape, and you can check the creases to make sure the cut edges line up.
  • Next, take the Pink pieces and line them up so one is on top, and one is below.  The creases and cut edges should also line up!
  • Place Tear n Tape on the top corners of the top piece, and bottom corners of the bottom piece.  Think of these 2 pieces as one big piece!
  • Remove the backings on the Tear n Tape.
  • Next, take the Red pieces and adhere them to the Pink piece. Adhere the corners one at a time, lining up the cut corners, top edges, middles, etc.  This is a very exacting layout.  Trim/shave pieces, if necessary. It should also lay FLAT!
  • Now, go back and re-crease the score lines.  You'll also not have the chance to see the card in motion!! Make sure the layers do not catch anywhere.
  • From here, you add layers to each "face" of the card.  And, you have four!  The "back" is where you will probably want to sign your card, or write a message. Notice that the 3rd layer shows through the 2nd layer, so you will need to plan for that when you add the layers to the 3rd "face".
  • As you decorate, use a variety of items.  Stamps, bling, labels, etc.  Just remember to keep them flat!

Modern Christmas Arched Card

Here is another idea that uses just the Modern Christmas DSP! I love this one, as the card itself is an arch shape, one of my favorites!

Measurements:

  • Basic Black: 1/2 sheet
  • Modern Christmas DSP (OE): 2 1/2" x 4" (tree image), 3 3/4" x 4 3/4" (fa la la la la); 1/2" x 3 1/4" strip (whatever)
  • Gold Foil: 3 3/4" x 5"
  • Basic White: 3 1/2" x 4 3/4"
To Make This Card:
  • Fold the Black card base in half, and cut with the largest Everyday Arches die, with the far left edge just falling off the fold. (this allows for less obvious distortion of the arch).
  • Die cut the Gold Foil with the 2nd largest Arch Die.
  • Die cut the "falalala" DSP with the 3rd largest Arch Die.
  • The "tree" pattern is cut with the 6th largest Arch Die.  Any of the tree images will work!
  • Adhere these 3 layers together, and add to card front.
  • Stamp and mount sentiment, if desired. (I prefer to see the fun trees!)
  • On the inside, a White arch cut from the 3rd largest Arch Die.  Add a strip of DSP to the bottom.  Stamp a sentiment in Memento Black.
  • Finish the front with small gold pearls.  I used the retired Festive Pearls.

Modern Christmas Book Binder Card

This DSP just stands alone!  There are tons of ideas out there that just use the paper, rather than the entire bundle, which is very nice, too! I was looking for an elegant, fun card for my Senior Center gals, and decided on this one! The focal point is die cut from the gorgeous DSP, and then the backgrounds are more of the lovely DSP. Add a little embellishment and you're done!

Measurements:

  • Basic Black: 1/2 sheet cut LENGTHWISE, 3" square
  • Modern Christmas DSP (OE): 4" square (mistletoe), 1" x 4" (stripe), 1/2" x 4" (black stars), tree image
  • Gold Foil: 2 1/2"+ square
  • Basic White: 4" square (inside)
To Make This Card:
  • Score Black base at 4 1/4" - 5 1/2".  Fold into "book binding" fold. Crease well.
  • Place Tear n Tape onto wrong side of 1 1/4" binding.  Adhere to card base.
  • Adhere DSP to front areas as shown.
  • Die cut black square.  Also select image from DSP and die cut square, with image "on point".
  • Cut Gold Foil layer with Paper Trimmer.  Layer all these pieces together, then adhere to front of card, "on point" with Dimensionals.
  • Add White Layer to the inside, with strip of DSP.
  • Finish front with small bow of Black/Gold Twine, and scattered Iridescent Faceted Gems.
