"Traditional" Daisy-looking Coneflower

Here is a little more "traditional" idea, that goes together fairly quickly! It's in Daffodil Delight and White with a touch of Granny Apple Green. I used the "detail" stamp for the background for this one.  I like to look!  The embossing folder is the Glass & Gardens embossing folders in the Online Store.

Measurements:

  • Daffodil Delight: 1/2 sheet cut LENGTHWISE, 3" x 4 1/4", scrap
  • Basic White: 4" x 5 1/4", 2 3/4" x 4 1/8" (embossed), 2 pcs @ 2 1/2" x 4"
  • Granny Apple Green: scraps
To Make this Card:
  • Randomly stamp "detail" flower in Daffodil Delight ink onto larger White layer.  Adhere to folded Daffodil Delight card base.
  • Run smaller White piece through one of the Glass & Gardens Embossing Folders.  And then adhere to Daffodil Layer.
  • Then, take this layer and adhere to card base with squares of Foam Adhesive Sheets.
  • Next, die cut half of flower base, and one of the detailed top from White. Adhere together and shape the petals with a bone folder.
  • Also, die cut flower "center" from Daffodil Delight, and the stem and leaf pieces (I used the 2 piece leaf here) from Granny Apple Green.
  • Now, to assemble the flower onto the card base.
  • Again, begin with the stem, first. Then, add the flower. And, the flower center.
  • Adhere the 2 pieces of the leaf together for each leaf!  Then, add to stem as shown.
  • Finish with a sentiment from the More Messages Bundle, popped up on Dimensionals, and scattered Darling Duck Flat Pearls. (yes, this color works!)

Double Coneflower Card

Patty Bennett was at it, again! This time she paired the 2-Tone Coneflowers with the Black and White Botanical Textures DSP in the Online Store. She has so many samples to share, but I chose this one with a little different orientation, and TWO flowers! (Yes, it does work!) This version uses shades of coral.  I love it! Did you notice the "splatter" on the top layer of petals. Also, the bottom layer is only half of the folded Coneflower, stamped of course, so I needed to cut 2, as the stamp only fits one direction!  I also added the "circle chain border", to give it a try!

Measurements:

  • Calypso Coral: 1/2 sheet cut LENGTHWISE
  • Petal Pink: 4" x 5 1/4"
  • Granny Apple Green: strip (for border)
  • Basic White: 4" x 5 1/4"
  • Botanical Textures DSP (N): 3 3/4" x 5", 1/2" x 5 1/4" strip (inside)
  • Calypso Coral 2-Tone Cardstock: 4" strip
  • Petal Pink 2-Tone Cardstock: 4" strip
  • Granny Apple Green 2-Tone Cardstock: 4" strip
  • Pecan Pie 2-Tone Cardstock: scrap
To Make this Card:
  • Adhere the Petal Pink and DSP layers to the folded Calypso Coral card base.
  • Finish the inside with White layer, and DSP strip.
  • Cut the HALF the "base" of the flower from Calypso Coral 2-Tone Cardstock dark side up. You will need 2 of these going the same direction, so that you can stamp the details. You will NOT need to die cut the full, folded base.
  • Also, cut 2 "top" layers from the darker side, and 2 "top" layers from the darker side of Petal Pink 2-Tone Cardstock
  • And, lastly, from scraps of  Granny Apple Green 2-Tone Cardstock cut 1 leaf and one detailed leaf (2 different sides) and from Pecan Pie 2-Tone Cardstock cut 2 flower "centers", dark side up.
  • If desired, also die cut the border either from regular Granny Apple Green Cardstock or a 2-Tone Granny Apple Green scrap.
  • So, now to assemble.
  • Take the "base", determine the color ink you want to use, I used Calypso Coral.  You will stamp this with the coordinating stamp on both "bases".. (Please NOTE: the stamp only fits one way.  Line it up to the "skinny petal" on the left!)
  • Carefully add some Calypso Coral ink to the lower edge of the petals with a Blending Brush.
  • If desired, add some ink to the lower edge, and or, upper edge of the next, dark Calypso Coral layer.
  • Finish by adding Calypso Coral to the top and tips of the Dark Petal Pink layer.  I also added some stamped off "splatter" in Early Espresso.
  • Before assembling, I shaped the petals of the 2 top layers, with a bone folder.
  • Next, adhere the 2 layers at the center.
  • Then, take the Pecan Pie center.  Patty added some more intense color to the bottom with a 006 Neutral Blend, and then deepened/shaded with a Blending Brush and Early Espresso ink.  Glue to the flowers. And, then add some Wink of Stella.
  • Now, to add to card front.
  • I first added the "border" if you decide to use it, as one of the "flowers" will overlap it a bit.
  • Arrange the flowers on the front.  Adhere the top left card. When you adhere the bottom right "flower" leave room to tuck in a leaf.
  • Finish with scattered Timid Tiger Flat Pearls.

Gorgeous, Darker Coneflower

I found this interesting color combination that I wanted to try.  No guidance from the original designer, so I had to get a little creative.  I'm really pleased with how it turned out! It's a combination of Blackberry Bliss, Lemon Lime Twist, and Petal Pink!  I think if I did this one again, I would bake the "base" just one layer.

Measurements:

  • Blackberry Bliss: 1/2 sheet cut LENGTHWISE
  • Petunia Pop: 3" x 4 1/2"
  • Old Olive: scraps
  • Lemon Lime Twist: 2 1/2" x 4"
  • Basic White: 3" x 4 1/2" (die cut) 4" x 5 1/4" (inside), scrap (sentiment)
  • Petal Pink 2-Tone Cardstock: 2 1.2" x 4"
  • Pecan Pie 2-Tone Cardstock: scrap
To Make this Card:
  • Die cut rectangle from Textured Notes Dies in White cardstock piece.
  • Mount onto Petunia Pop piece, and layer onto Blackberry Bliss folded card base.
  • Die cut flower "base" from Lemon Lime Twist (you will only need 1/2 the flower).  Stamp detail in Granny Apple Green ink, Set aside.
  • Die cut top layer from darker side of Petal Pink 2-Tone Cardstock.  I die cut the flower "center" from the dark side of Pecan Pie as well.
  • To shade the top layer, burnish Blackberry Bliss ink onto top of layer with a Blending Brush.  Then, carefully blend in Granny Apple Green ink to the tips up to the Blackberry Bliss with just a bit of the Petal Pink showing. Now is the time to shape the petals a little bit with a Bone Folder!
  • As I laid this top layer onto the base, I thought the color was just a little too "bright" underneath, so I also added some Blackberry Bliss ink to the upper part of the flower, and a little Granny Apple Green below.  It was just what it needed!
  • Now, you can adhere these 2 flower parts together.
  • Next, take the flower "center" and burnish in some Early Espresso ink.  Add this to the flower, too. Add some Wink of Stella and set aside.
  • Now, stamp stem and 2 leaves in Old Olive ink onto Old Olive scrap. Die cut with corresponding dies.
  • Add stem to front of card, on top of existing layers. Then, add flower, flush to card, then add the leaves.
  • Stamp sentiment in Blackberry Bliss ink, and die cut with smallest die from the Textured Notes Dies.  Add to card with Dimensionals.
  • Finish with Petunia Pop Flat Pearls.

1 layer Coneflower Celebration

I absolutely love the colors of this card.  You have to see it IRL!! This design comes to you from fellow demonstrator Amy Koenders!  It, too, utilizes the Irresistible Designs DSP.  Her color combo was a color challenge with her team, and utilizes Lost Lagoon, Peach Pie, Mossy Meadow, Secret Sea and Crumb Cake. May have to try these colors out on another project!

Measurements:

  • Lost Lagoon: 1/2 sheet cut LENGTHWISE
  • Basic White: 2 pcs @ 4" x 5 1/4", 1/4 sheet (stamped images), scrap (sentiment)
  • Irresistible Designs DSP (N): 3 3/4" x 5"
To Make this Card:
  • Burnish Lost Lagoon ink onto Irresistible Design paper with a Blending Brush.  If desired, add a little more texture with stamped off "splatter". (It really is a nice touch!)
  • Mount onto one White layer and then adhere to folded Lost Lagoon card base with squares of Dimensional Sheet.
  • Stamp flower base, butterfly, stem and leaves in Secret Sea ink onto White piece.
  • Color with Blends as shown. Then, cut out with corresponding dies.
  • Add stem first with Multipurpose Glue, then add "flower" with squares of Dimensional Sheet.  Place Dimensionals on ends of "leaves" and glue base to "stem" and peel Dimensionals, for some interest.
  • Add "butterfly" to "flower".  Then, add Wink of Stella to "flower" and "butterfly".
  • Stamp sentiment in Secret Sea ink onto scrap of White.  Die cut with smallest die from the Textured Notes Dies.
  • Place folded Secret Sea Ribbon behind label, and adhere to card front with Dimensionals.
  • Finish inside with Stamped off "splatter" on the bottom, and stamped and colored "butterfly" in the upper corner.
  • Finish front with scattered, new Peach Pie Flat Pearls.
