Jolly Holly Pop Out Z Fold

I spotted this card idea as I was surfing Pinterest looking for inspiration for the Jolly Holly Bundle. I liked that it used the images in the stamp set, the embossing folder without the die, and was a neat fold! And, it really wasn't all that difficult to create!  Really fun to make!

Measurements:

  • Soft Seafoam: 1/2 sheet, 1" x 5" (pop up mechanism), 2 pcs @ 2 1/4" square, 2 3/4" square
  • Pecan Pie 2-Tone cardstock: 4 1/8" x 5 3/8", 2 pcs @ 2" x 5 3/8", 2 pcs @ 1 5/8" square, 2 1/8" square, 3/4" strip
  • Garden Green: 4" x 5 1/4", 2 pcs @ 1 7/8" x 5 1/8"
  • Basic Beige:  1/2" strip (words), scraps (images)
  • Nests of Winter DSP: 2 pcs @ 1 5/8" square, 2" square (Garden Green stripe), 5/8" strip
To Make This Card:
  • Score Soft Seafoam Base @ 2 1/8" and 4 1/4".  Crease well, creating a "Z".
  • Adhere Pecan Pie layers to corresponding places.
  • Run Garden Green cardstock through Jolly Holly embossing folder.  Adhere to corresponding places.
  • Now, take the 1" Soft Seafoam strip and score at 1"-2"-3"-4".  Crease well forming a "box" and adhere together with Tear n Tape..  This is the mechanism for the Pop Up!
  • Next, take the mechanism, and place Tear n Tape on 2 sections.  Insert into the card base as shown, adhering the "box" to the back and inside Z fold. Set the card base aside.
  • Next, we'll make the decorative squares.
  • Cut 2 smaller squares from Soft Seafoam using the Stylish Shapes Dies.  Cut a larger Square as well.  Adhere the Pecan Pie squares, next.  These are CUT, not die cut.
  • Then, die cut the smaller squares, also from the Stylish Shapes Dies. Add a little Garden Green ink to the DSP, if desired for more depth.  Add to corresponding squares.
  • Adhere these squares to the front of the Z, on point, with the points touching top and bottom, as shown.  They'll also touch in the center.
  • The larger square will go inside on the Pop Up Mechanism, with the point touching the back "Z".
  • Now, to decorate.  Stamp the images in Memento Black ink onto Basic Beige cardstock.  Color the bell in Crumb Cake, with Wink of Stella (this is a really neat effect!)
  • Color the rest of the bell with Dk Real Red Blend.
  • Color the "holly" with a Soft Seafoam Blend, and the berries in Real Red Blends.  Stamp the "Joy" in Real Red ink.  Die cut all pieces with corresponding dies.
  • Adhere all images to the squares with Dimensionals..  The "Joy" is flat.
  • For the words, stamp the sentiment from the Peace on Earth stamps in Real Red onto strip of Basic Beige. Cut into 2 pieces and mount onto the coordinating strips, then, onto squares on the front.
  • Finish with Berries gems.

Elegant Jolly Holly Card

Here is another quick card made using the Jolly Holly Bundle! This one is paired with the beautiful Season of Elegance DSP! The included tag dies tuck into the open leaves (when you plan a little ahead)!  So, quick and beautiful.

Measurements:

  • Old Olive: 1/2 sheet
  • Season of Elegance: 4" x 5 1/4", 1/2" x 4" strip (Old Olive & Gold)
  • Cajun Craze: 2" x 3 1/4"
  • Basic Beige:  4" x 5 1/4" (inside), 2 7/8" x 3"
To Make This Card:
  • Run the Season of Elegance piece through the hybrid embossing folder & die. You need to think about the placement of the "labels" on the cutouts, so they can  overlap! (I learned the hard way!) Note: Some of the outside leaves will be cut away, be sure to keep track of them, you'll still need them to finish the image.
  • Adhere this piece to the folded Old Olive card base, placing Multipurpose Glue on the "smooth" parts of the DSP!
  • Die cut larger "label" from Cajun Craze - the label is in the Jolly Holly dies!  And, die cut the smaller "label" from Basic Beige!
  • Stamp desired sentiment in Old Olive ink onto the Basic Beige "label".  Then, adhere together.
  • Next, fit into "opening".  Then, adhere to DSP, pulling up "leaves" around "labels".
  • Finish inside with Beige insert,  and strip of DSP.
  • Finish front with Cajun Craze Earthy Matte Dots and Gold Cord bow.

Jolly Holly Dimensional Card

I totally missed this bundle, Jolly Holly, in the Online Store.  It actually came out in JULY!!  It has an awesome hybrid embossing folder. The gal that created this card, has actually created more dimension by putting Dimensionals under all the leaves that lift!  It creates some awesome interest! Underneath, peeking out from underneath, is the gorgeous Season of Elegance DSP.  The "labels" are the recently retired Unbounded Love Dies and the berries, which are perfect, are, sadly gone, now, too!

Measurements:

  • Cherry Cobbler: 1/2 sheet, scrap
  • Mossy Meadow: 2 3/4" x 5 1/2"
  • Season of Elegance: 3" x 5 1/2" (Beige piece)
  • Basic Beige:  4" x 5 1/4", scrap
  • Gold Foil: 2 1/4" x 3"
To Make this Card:
  • Run the Mossy Meadow piece through the hybrid embossing folder.  Note: Some of the outside leaves will be cut away, be sure to keep track of them, you'll still need them to finish the image.
  • Adhere the Beige DSP piece to the front of the folded Cherry Cobbler card base, as shown.
  • Place Dimensionals under each "cut" leaf.  I like to put them near the center of the flower for more "lift".
  • Remove the backings of the Dimensionals.
  • Now, add multipurpose glue to the smooth/flat parts of the embossed piece.  Also, under the "berries".
  • Adhere to card front over Beige piece, leaving an 1/8" border along the sides.
  • Next, heat emboss sentiment in gold embossing powder, onto scrap of Basic Beige.  Die cut with Unbounded Love Oval Die, as shown.  Cut another of the same die from Cherry Cobbler.  You'll use the outside of the Cherry Cobbler, and the inside of the embossed Basic Beige.
  • Die cut the scalloped oval die from Gold Foil.  Layer all together onto the Gold oval.
  • Add to card front with Dimensionals, tucking under "leaves", as shown.
  • Finish inside with Basic Beige layer, and strip of DSP.
  • Finish outside with red "berries", and a gold cord bow.
