Double Coneflower Card

Patty Bennett was at it, again! This time she paired the 2-Tone Coneflowers with the Black and White Botanical Textures DSP in the Online Store. She has so many samples to share, but I chose this one with a little different orientation, and TWO flowers! (Yes, it does work!) This version uses shades of coral.  I love it! Did you notice the "splatter" on the top layer of petals. Also, the bottom layer is only half of the folded Coneflower, stamped of course, so I needed to cut 2, as the stamp only fits one direction!  I also added the "circle chain border", to give it a try!

Measurements:

  • Calypso Coral: 1/2 sheet cut LENGTHWISE
  • Petal Pink: 4" x 5 1/4"
  • Granny Apple Green: strip (for border)
  • Basic White: 4" x 5 1/4"
  • Botanical Textures DSP (N): 3 3/4" x 5", 1/2" x 5 1/4" strip (inside)
  • Calypso Coral 2-Tone Cardstock: 4" strip
  • Petal Pink 2-Tone Cardstock: 4" strip
  • Granny Apple Green 2-Tone Cardstock: 4" strip
  • Pecan Pie 2-Tone Cardstock: scrap
To Make this Card:
  • Adhere the Petal Pink and DSP layers to the folded Calypso Coral card base.
  • Finish the inside with White layer, and DSP strip.
  • Cut the HALF the "base" of the flower from Calypso Coral 2-Tone Cardstock dark side up. You will need 2 of these going the same direction, so that you can stamp the details. You will NOT need to die cut the full, folded base.
  • Also, cut 2 "top" layers from the darker side, and 2 "top" layers from the darker side of Petal Pink 2-Tone Cardstock
  • And, lastly, from scraps of  Granny Apple Green 2-Tone Cardstock cut 1 leaf and one detailed leaf (2 different sides) and from Pecan Pie 2-Tone Cardstock cut 2 flower "centers", dark side up.
  • If desired, also die cut the border either from regular Granny Apple Green Cardstock or a 2-Tone Granny Apple Green scrap.
  • So, now to assemble.
  • Take the "base", determine the color ink you want to use, I used Calypso Coral.  You will stamp this with the coordinating stamp on both "bases".. (Please NOTE: the stamp only fits one way.  Line it up to the "skinny petal" on the left!)
  • Carefully add some Calypso Coral ink to the lower edge of the petals with a Blending Brush.
  • If desired, add some ink to the lower edge, and or, upper edge of the next, dark Calypso Coral layer.
  • Finish by adding Calypso Coral to the top and tips of the Dark Petal Pink layer.  I also added some stamped off "splatter" in Early Espresso.
  • Before assembling, I shaped the petals of the 2 top layers, with a bone folder.
  • Next, adhere the 2 layers at the center.
  • Then, take the Pecan Pie center.  Patty added some more intense color to the bottom with a 006 Neutral Blend, and then deepened/shaded with a Blending Brush and Early Espresso ink.  Glue to the flowers. And, then add some Wink of Stella.
  • Now, to add to card front.
  • I first added the "border" if you decide to use it, as one of the "flowers" will overlap it a bit.
  • Arrange the flowers on the front.  Adhere the top left card. When you adhere the bottom right "flower" leave room to tuck in a leaf.
  • Finish with scattered Timid Tiger Flat Pearls.
