Beautiful Blues Kit Tri-Fold Birthday Card

I received this card from my aunt, as an early birthday card.  Isn't it just gorgeous!? She "repurposed" the cards in the kit as layers for the arches, and created this awesome tri-fold card.  The kits in our Kit Collection are just awesome.  There are so many optional things you can do with them!  Some are more obvious than others!  Be sure to search for alternative ideas! I've seen a video with 23 cards made from this kit!!  Thanks, Marcia!

Pretty Floral 2-Way Z-Fold - Landscape

I just loved this fold so much, I had to try it with the other orientation! This version also uses the Florals in Bloom DSP and Pretty Floral Bundle. I love how this version turned out, too!

Measurements:

  • Basic White: 1/2 sheet cut LENGTHWISE, 2 1/2" X 4" (embossed), 3 3/4" x 5" (inside), 2 pcs @ 3 1/4" square (circles), scraps
  • Florals in Bloom DSP: 2 1/2" x 4", 5 1/4" x 8", 3/4" x 5" (Multi print)
  • Old Olive: scraps
To Make This Card:
  • Create "Z-Fold" by folding White card base in 1/2 and then folding the front of card back so the cut edge lines up to the crease.  Crease well.
  • Adhere 2 1/2" strip of DSP to front flap.
  • Fold the other piece of DSP in half.  Adhere to inside of card, making sure the directional print is "right side up".
  • Emboss the White piece with the Pressed Flower Embossing Folder, and adhere to the "back side" of "Z".
  • Cut 2 circles from the largest stitched circle from the Stylish Shapes Dies.  Set aside.
  • Stamp the "detail" of the little flower in Darling Duckling. (It stamps all 3 flowers at once.)  Stamp off the "solid" stamp in Darling Duckling.  Die cut from corresponding die.
  • Also, die cut the "stem" in Old Olive.  Adhere the "calyx" to the flower "bases". Then add Dimensionals to the flowers, but attach the stems directly to one of the die cut White circles.
  • Stamp sentiment in Old Olive ink onto 1/2" strip of White.  Cut ends diagonally. Attach to circle with Dimensionals. Then, add circle to front flap of card.
  • Attach the larger, White piece to inside of card. Add strip of DSP to the top.
  • Stamp sentiment in Old Olive ink onto final circle. Adhere to "flip up card" behind other front circle.
  • Finish front of card with scattered Low Profile Sparkle Dots .  I also added several Low Profile Sparkle Dots to the underneath circle.
  • Oh, and I also added a little Wink of Stella to all the flowers.

Split Leaf Frame Card

What a cool, simple idea using the "frame" from the Amber Autumn Dies! Split the frame in half, and you have enough for TWO cards!  The new Earthen Toned Metallic paper is just perfect for this Clean & Simple card!  I paired it with a panel embossed with the Birch Wood 3D Embossing Folder and some Pecan Pie layers, as well as some of our gorgeous, new Streaked Dots.

Measurements:

  • Very Vanilla: 1/2 sheet,  3 7/8" x 5 1/8" (embossed), scrap
  • Pecan Pie: 4 1/8" x 5 3/8", scrap
  • Earthen Toned Metallic (N) (MC): 4" x 5" (leaf die cut), scrap
To Make This Card:
  • Run Very Vanilla layer through Birch Wood Embossing Folder. Adhere to Pecan Pie layer and then to folded Very Vanilla Card base.
  • Run Metallic Layer through leafy die cut from the Amber Autumn Dies. This is very delicate and has lots of pieces that fall out, but it is SO worth it!
  • Carefully cut this "frame" in half, trying to maintain the leaves that you are cutting apart.
  • Select one half to adhere to your card front. I used Multipurpose Glue, but next time I may try an adhesive sheet.
  • Die cut the single leaf from the die set.  Set aside.
  • Stamp sentiment in Pecan Pie ink onto piece of Very Vanilla.  Die cut with "banner" from Stylish Shapes Dies.
  • Mount onto Pecan Pie "banner" shape.  Determine placement and trim the right side, then adhere to card front.
  • Now, add single leaf.
  • Finish with scattered Streaked Dots.
