Butterfly Pieced Triangle Card

Having conquered the Pieced Triangle Card using the Oh So Ombre DSP, I decided to try my hand with a "directional" DSP.  It's really pretty neat, you just need to pay attention to the direction of the DSP as you make your diagonal cuts.

Measurements:

  • So Saffron:1/2 sheet
  • Basic Black: 4" x 5 1/4", 3 3/4" x 5"
  • Butterfly Bijou DSP (N): 1 pc - 3" x 6", 1 large Yellow Butterfly
  • Subtles DSP: 1 pc So Saffron pattern 3" x 6"

To Make This Card:

  • Score 3 3/4" x 5" black piece in half at 1 7/8" and 2 1/2".  You will use these score lines for placement.
  • Cut the 2 - 3" x 6" DSP pieces in half, creating 4 - 3" x 3" squares. Separate into 2 3" squares of each pattern.
  • Take the 2 small "butterfly" pieces that you are using for this card, and cut diagonally, paying attention to the directions of the butterflies and the placement on the card. Lay them out on the black placement piece.
  • The 2 Saffron pieces just cut diagonally, and lay out with the "butterflies".
  • Now, take one of the first "butterfly" triangles.  Attach adhesive to the point end of the DSP.  Attach to the smaller base along the score line - 1/16" away, with the point to the center. (see pix for placement).
  • Now, take one of the other, solid triangles.  Repeat with adhesive, and attach to base as shown, with the point at the center as shown.  Repeat for the other 3 areas.
  • Now, flip this piece over, and trim off excess DSP. Trimming next to cardstock base.  Toss these pieces!
  • Attach this decorative piece to the corresponding "quarter" - which will complete the 1/8" border around it all!  So clever!!
  • Then, attach to folded So Saffron Card.
  • Finish by decorating the center, to hide the points, that may not entirely match!
  • For this card, I used one of the large, Saffron butterflies to finish the card.
