Take a Bow Never Ending Card

This is another version of a Never Ending card, that while it is much easier to cut & score, is not as easy to assemble!  It ends up being an even 5" x 5" card, so it's a little more difficult to determine which layer your are decorating!  You will also need to create your own envelope, which you can do with an envelope punch board. What IS easy - you just need 4 equal pieces of cardstock for the base, as well as the pieces to decorate.  I used the Jolly Holly Bundle for the additional stamping, and the retired Take a Bow DSP patterns for the layers. If you didn't want to mess with the evenness of all of the layers, just translate it into a "regular" size!

Measurements:

  • Basic White: 4 pcs @ 2 1/2" x 5", 4 pcs @ 2" square, scraps
  • Take a Bow (ret): 6 pcs @ 2 1/4" square, 8 pcs @ 1" square, 14 pcs @ 1 1/16" x 2 1/4" - use a variety of patterns, you can cut as you go
To Make This Card:
  • We'll begin with the card "mechanism".  Then, I'll guide you through decorating, which will really have many options, depending on your "theme"!
  • Score the 4 White pieces the same: 1 1/4" from each end. Lightly crease.
  • Next, take 2 of the White "base" pieces and line them up so one is on top, and one is below.  The creases and cut edges should also line up!
  • Place Tear n Tape on the top corners of the top piece, and bottom corners of the bottom piece.  Think of these 2 pieces as one big piece!
  • Remove the backings on the Tear n Tape.
  • Next, take the other 2 White pieces and adhere them to the other base pieces. Adhere the corners one at a time, lining up the cut corners, top edges, middles, etc.  This is a very exacting layout.  Trim/shave pieces, if necessary. It should also lay FLAT!
  • Now, go back and re-crease the score lines.  You'll also not have the chance to see the card in motion!! Make sure the layers do not catch anywhere.
  • From here, you add layers to each "face" of the card.  And, you have four!  The "back" is where you will probably want to sign your card, or write a message. Notice that the 3rd layer shows through the 2nd layer, so you will need to plan for that when you add the layers to the 3rd "face". I precut several of the patterns, and then cut as I went.
  • As you decorate, use a variety of items.  Stamps, bling, labels, etc.  Just remember to keep them flat!
