Traditions of Christmas Never Ending Card

Some time back, several of my customers requested that they make a "Never Ending Card".  So, I decided that this would be one of my projects for my Club Christmas Party! In doing some research, I've discovered that over time, probably since the last time I taught this, there are several new twists on this oldie. So, stay tuned...  This one, however, is the "traditional" version that will fit into an A2 envelope.  It IS different, in that the "working panels" are to coordinating colors, instead of all one color. So, I designed this Christmas version just for them!  Yes, it's a "Becky Original"! I do love how it turned out!  These really are a lot of fun to do, and actually pretty easy, too!

  • Traditional Christmas DSP (N) (MC): FRONT: 2 pcs @ 1 7/8" x 2 1/2" (red poinsettia), 4 pcs @ 1 1/8" x 2 1/2" (pink dot); NEXT: 2 pcs @ 2" x 2 5/8" (pink poinsettia); NEXT: 2 pcs @ 2" x 2 5/8" (red poinsettia), 4 pcs @ 7/8"x 1 1/4" (pink poinsettia), BACK: 1 pc @ 2" x 2 5/8" (pink poinsettia)

To Make This Card:
  • We'll begin with the card "mechanism".  Then, I'll guide you through decorating, which will really have many options, depending on your "theme"!
  • Score the Real Red piece, along the 4 1/4" side @ 1 3/8" from each end. Turn this piece in the cutter 90 degrees and cut in half @ 2 1/8". Set both pieces aside.
  • Score the Bubble Bath piece, along the 5 1/2" side @ 1 1/16" from each end. Turn this piece and cut in half @ 2 3/4".
  • To crease along score lines or not.  It doesn't make any difference, but I think if you crease now, you will know where to put the Tear n Tape, and you can check the creases to make sure the cut edges line up.
  • Next, take the Pink pieces and line them up so one is on top, and one is below.  The creases and cut edges should also line up!
  • Place Tear n Tape on the top corners of the top piece, and bottom corners of the bottom piece.  Think of these 2 pieces as one big piece!
  • Remove the backings on the Tear n Tape.
  • Next, take the Red pieces and adhere them to the Pink piece. Adhere the corners one at a time, lining up the cut corners, top edges, middles, etc.  This is a very exacting layout.  Trim/shave pieces, if necessary. It should also lay FLAT!
  • Now, go back and re-crease the score lines.  You'll also not have the chance to see the card in motion!! Make sure the layers do not catch anywhere.
  • From here, you add layers to each "face" of the card.  And, you have four!  The "back" is where you will probably want to sign your card, or write a message. Notice that the 3rd layer shows through the 2nd layer, so you will need to plan for that when you add the layers to the 3rd "face".
  • As you decorate, use a variety of items.  Stamps, bling, labels, etc.  Just remember to keep them flat!
