Book Binding Gatefold with Pocket

This card idea is packed with details! So many different card details and folds in one card! First, it's a Book Binding card, with a Gate Fold (I've never done that), and then those neat, new little corners that make a pocket!  Too much fun, all in one! This one comes from Creative Moments by G. It uses the Radiant Sunflower Bundle along with the new, Rustic Check 3D Embossing Folder. I plan on designing a Christmas one soon!

Measurements:

  • Crushed Curry: 1/2 sheet cut LENGTHWISE, 3 1/2" square (pocket insert), 7/8" x 3 7/8" (embossed side layer), 1 7/8" square (corners), scrap
  • Pecan Pie: 2 pcs @ 2" x 4", 1" x 4" (embossed side)
  • Sunflower Fields DSP (N): 3 1/4" square (white sunflower print - pocket insert), 2 pcs @ 1 3/4" x 3 3/4" (Pecan Pie dots)
  • Basic White: 4" square, scrap
  • Old Olive: scrap
To Make This Card:

  • Score base @ 2 1/8" - 3 3/8" - 8 7/8". Crease the last score line in a "mountain" fold. Also, crease the next score line in a "mountain" fold.  The last score line is a "valley" fold and creates the "binding". Check that your folds create the book binding, AND the gate fold!!
  • Place Tear & Tape onto the "binder" part of the card fold.
  • Next, add the White square to the inside.
  • Now, adhere the dotted DSP to the matching Pecan Pie pieces. Then adhere to the "gate" folds.
  • Next, cut the small square diagonally, creating 2 triangles. Then, run the Crushed Curry strip and the small triangles through the Rustic Check Embossing Folder.
  • Adhere the Strip to the Pecan Pie layer, and then attach to the Book Binder part.
  • Take the triangles and add small Dimensionals to the corners. Match to the lower gates, as shown, and attach, one to each side.
  • Now, take the other DSP square and add to Crushed Curry square.
  • FInish the pocket piece with stamped and fussy cut sentiment. I added it to the front with Dimensionals and a Linen Thread bow.
  • Finish the inside with a die cut Sunflower and leaf.  I added a little color to the flower with Pecan Pie ink.
  • Finish the front with retired Pecan Pie Speckled Dots.
