I found this card online and it just looked so peaceful to me! So, I gave it a try! It uses my favorite tool - the Blending Brushes - for the soft background and the Pelican from the Waves of Inspiration stamp set. I made it a birthday card, but it could be used for so many occasions.
Measurements:
- Soft Suede: 1/2 sheet
- So Saffront: 4" x 5 1/4"
- Basic White: 3 1/2" x 4 3/4", 2 5/8" x 4", scraps
To Make This Card:
- Run So Saffron piece through the Stripes and Splatters 3D embossing folder. It will only do about 3/4 of the piece, so line it up and run the unembossed end through.
- Attach this piece to folded Soft Suede card.
- Next, with the larger White piece, Cut out scalloped rectangle from the Scalloped Contour Dies. Set aside.
- Now, take the other rectangle piece of white. Burnish So Saffron ink onto the top 3/4 of the piece with a Blending Brush. Then, add Soft Suede ink to the bottom quarter. I then, added a little darker Mango Melody to the center of the yellow color. Attach this piece to the White Scalloped Rectangle.
- Stamp "pelican" in Soft Suede. Cut out with corresponding die.
- Next, cut out 2 clouds from White scraps. To enhance the embossed detail, you can use your Silicone Sheet to press the detail into the cardstock!!!
- After you have cut out your "clouds", reset your "sandwich" with the #1 base, no #2 plate, one #3 plate, die with the cut "cloud" still in the die facing UP, Silicone Sheet, #4 plate. (check out my video). Run through your Die Cutting Machine. And, voila...too cool!!
- Stamp sentiment of your choice in Soft Suede ink onto scrap of white. Cut out with narrow tag die from the Waves Dies.
- Next, weave Linen Thread through open ends of tag, around the back of the White layers, and tie in a bow.
- Now add the "pelican" under this tag. I then, secured the tag to the card front by sliding some Mini Glue Dots under the tag. (or, you could also add Dimensionals.)
- Attach this piece to card front with Dimensionals.
- Finish by adding the clouds. I popped these up with Dimensionals and stamping a few "seagulls" in Soft Suede.
