Waves of Inspiration Clean & Simple Card

Love the composition of this card, created by Mariann Hayes, that we did at our Retreat!  I uses the retired Waves of the Ocean DSP with the current Waves of Inspiration Bundle. I just love it!

Measurements:

  • Pacific Point: 1/2 sheet
  • Waves of the Ocean DSP (ret): 4" x 5 1/4"
  • Basic White: 3 3/4" x 5" (front), 4" x 5 1/4" (inside) scrap
  • Night of Navy: scrap
To Make This Card:
  • Attach DSP to folded Pacific Point card.  Attach trimmed White quarter to the inside.
  • Take a 2 1/2" scalloped circle punch and punch a hole in the upper right corner of White layer.  Mount onto card.
  • Stamp "pelican" in Crumb Cake onto scrap of White.  Die cut with corresponding die.  Attach to card with Dimensionals.
  • Stamp sentiment in Momento Black in lower left corner.
  • Finish with "seagulls" and Blue Rhinestones.

Calming Yellow Pelican

I found this card online and it just looked so peaceful to me!  So, I gave it a try!  It uses my favorite tool - the Blending Brushes - for the soft background and the Pelican from the Waves of Inspiration stamp set. I made it a birthday card, but it could be used for so many occasions.

Measurements:

  • Soft Suede: 1/2 sheet
  • So Saffront: 4" x 5 1/4"
  • Basic White: 3 1/2" x 4 3/4", 2 5/8" x 4", scraps
To Make This Card:

  • Run So Saffron piece through the Stripes and Splatters 3D embossing folder. It will only do about 3/4 of the piece, so line it up and run the unembossed end through.
  • Attach this piece to folded Soft Suede card.
  • Next, with the larger White piece, Cut out scalloped rectangle from the Scalloped Contour Dies.  Set aside.
  • Now, take the other rectangle piece of white. Burnish So Saffron ink onto the top 3/4 of the piece with a Blending Brush. Then, add Soft Suede ink to the bottom quarter.   I then, added a little darker Mango Melody to the center of the yellow color. Attach this piece to the White Scalloped Rectangle.
  • Stamp "pelican" in Soft Suede. Cut out with corresponding die.
  • Next, cut out 2 clouds from White scraps. To enhance the embossed detail, you can use your Silicone Sheet to press the detail into the cardstock!!!
  • After you have cut out your "clouds", reset your "sandwich" with the #1 base, no #2 plate, one #3 plate, die with the cut "cloud" still in the die facing UP, Silicone Sheet, #4 plate. (check out my video). Run through your Die Cutting Machine.  And, voila...too cool!!
  • Stamp sentiment of your choice in Soft Suede ink onto scrap of white.  Cut out with narrow tag die from the Waves Dies.
  • Next, weave Linen Thread through open ends of tag, around the back of the White layers, and tie in a bow.
  • Now add the "pelican" under this tag. I then, secured the tag to the card front by sliding some Mini Glue Dots under the tag. (or, you could also add Dimensionals.)
  • Attach this piece to card front with Dimensionals.
  • Finish by adding the clouds. I popped these up with Dimensionals and stamping a few "seagulls" in Soft Suede.

DSP Waves Alternate + Video

This is another card inspired by a sample on the Waves of the Ocean Promotional Flyer. I think this a unique use of the dies as an element on a card. I also used the new Stripes & Splatters 3D Embossing Folders.

Measurements:

  • Pacific Point: 1/2 sheet cut LENGTHWISE, 1 1/4" x 3 1/4"
  • Coastal Cabana: 4 1/8" x 5 3/8"
  • Waves of the Ocean DSP (N): 2 5/8" strip (Cabana, White, & Pacific Point)
  • Adhesive Sheet: 2 5/8" x 12"
To Make This Card:
  • Run Coastal Cabana piece through Splatter Embossing Folder. You will need to run this through twice. Then, attach to folded Pacific Point card.
  • Adhere Adhesive Sheet to back of DSP piece.
  • Die cut out BOTH "waves", or choose your favorite and cut it out twice! Remove backing from "waves" and attach to card as shown.  The curve of the "wave" will overlap.
  • Now take a darker piece from this sheet of DSP and emboss sentiment in White Embossing Powder.  Cut out with Large Tag Die from the Wave Dies.
  • Attach "tag" to Pacific Point rectangle and attach to card, over "wave curves", with Dimensionals.
  • Finish with scattered Pacific Point Wave Jewels.

Stamp Wave Directly to Paper (DTP) Alternate + Video

Here is another way to use the Wave of Inspiration "wave"...stamp it directly onto the DSP.  In the "old days" we called this DTP or, Direct To Paper! I think added a Foil die cut "wave" over the top. The top one uses the Navy Foil and Navy ink.  The second one uses the Coastal Cabana Foil and Coastal Cabana Ink.

NAVY SAMPLE

Measurements:

  • Coastal Cabana: 1/2 sheet
  • Waves of the Ocean DSP (N): 4" x 5 1/4" (Cabana & Pacific Point)
  • Blue Foils (N): 2 5/8" strip (Night of Navy), 3/4" strip
  • Adhesive Sheet: 2 5/8" x 12"
  • Basic White: scraps
To Make This Card:
  • Line up "wave" stamp into Stamparatus, so it will stamp in the lower left corner of DSP.
  • Ink up Night of Navy (or whichever blue ink works best for your piece of DSP. (I originally started with Pacific Point, but couldn't see it, so I switched to Night of Navy.
  • Now, stamp onto DSP.
  • Attach DSP to folded Coastal Cabana card.
  • Adhere Adhesive Sheet to back of Night of Navy Foil piece.
  • Die cut out "wave" of your choice.  Remove backing from "wave" and attach to Cabana & Pacific Point DSP over stamped image. This adds depth, detail, and shine!
  • Stamp sentiment in Pacific Point onto scrap of White.  Cut out with larger tag from the Waves Dies.
  • Thread the Navy Foil strip through tag.  Take Paper Snips and snip ends.  Adhere to card.
  • Finish with Pacific Point Wave Jewels.
