I found this interesting fold shared by Lisa Curcio and wanted to try it. She has quite a few options using this fold over on her website. Too much fun! I decided to try the one with the Sweet Candy Cane Bundle, and love how it turned out!
Measurements:
- Real Red: 4 1/4" x 9 1/2" (base), 3 1/4" x 5" (block 1), 2 1/2" x 4" (block 2), 1 1/2" x 3" (block 3)
- Sweetest Christmas DSP (N): STRIPE - 4" x 5 1/4" (base layer),
- Sweetest Christmas DSP (N): DOTS - 1 3/4" x 4" (card front), 1 1/4" x 3" (block 1), 1 1/4" x 2 1/4" (block 2), 1 1/4" x 4 1/4" (block 3)
- Sweetest Christmas DSP (N): 2 die cut Candy Canes
- Basic White: 1 7/8" x 4 1/8" (card front), 1 3/8" x 3 1/8" (block 1), 1 3/8" x 2 3/8" (block 2), 1 3/8" x 1 3/8" (block 3), 4" x 5 1/4" (back of card base for msg)
To Make This Card:
- Score Real Red base at 2" x 4". Crease well, making an "accordion" fold.
- Attach stripe DSP to base.
- Then, I began by attaching all DSP pieces to corresponding White bases.
- Find the longest layers and attach to front of "accordion" fold.
- Next, we'll begin the Pop Up part with the first (next largest) block. Score at 1 1/2" - 3" - 4 1/2". Crease well creating a partial "square".
- Place Tear n Tape onto first 1 1/2" section and last 1/2" section.
- Adhere corresponding DSP/White piece to second section from the left.
- Remove backing from left side. Place cut edge along score line of base. Close card over Tear Tape.
- Open up card. Remove Tear Tape from 1/2" side. Tuck under and adhere to back of card.
- Now, try the card, to make sure it "pops up".
- For Block #2, score at 1" - 2 1/2" - 3 1/2". Then, continue to add to card as above.
- For Block #3, scor at 1/2" - 2" - 2 1/2". Then, continue to add to card as above.
- Voila, the "pop ups" are finished! Now, to decorate.
- For this sample, I die cut 2 matching "Candy Canes" in both directions. I adhered the bottom one directly to the front of card, and the "crossed" one to the front with Dimensionals.
- Finish with a bow. You can also scatter some Rhinestones or sequines, if desired.
- You can add an optional White piece to the back of card for your greeting or sentiment - and signature!
