Cute as a Bug Fun Fold

Well, it's Senior Center time, again, so time to create cards for them! I try to use up some of my retired inventory with them, but this one is all current! This one was designed by Tara at Tarabeth Stamps! So clever, you know I love the arches as much as I love ovals! And, with this one, I finally get to use the mushrooms in the Sweet Bugs Dies!! Glad she had a tutorial on how to assemble them, as I doubt I'd ever figure it out! I love this one so much, I think I'll do it in my monthly class here, too!

Measurements:

Mossy Meadow: 5 1/2" x 6 3/4", 3" x 4 1/4" (arch)
Crushed Curry: 4" x 5 1/4" (inside), 2 1/4" x 5 1/4" (lower front)
Basic White: 3 3/4" x 5"
Cajun Craze: scraps
Basic Beige: scraps
Cute as a Bug (OE): 2 1/8" x 5" (mushroom print), 2 5/8" x 3 1/2" (fern print)

To Make This Card:

Score Mossy Meadow base @ 4 1/4". Crease into a mountain fold.
Die cut 4th largest Arch from the Everyday Arches in Mossy Meadow, and 5th largest arch from the "fern print".
Score the Mossy Meadow cardstock piece @ 1/2". Crease well.
Trim 3/8" from the DSP piece. (you may still need to fit this a bit first)
Next, adhere White layer to inside Crushed Curry piece.
Place Tear & Tape on inside of "mountain fold" of Mossy Meadow arch on the 1/2" flap. Hook this over the top edge of the inside cardstock pieces and press, firmly, into place. Make sure flap will easily flip up!
Now, adhere this entire piece to the inside of card!
Next, add the Crushed Curry and DSP pieces to front flip up piece.
For the 3 "mushrooms" die cut the 3 stems in Basic Beige, and the tops from Cajun Craze. These are in the Sweet Bugs Dies. (Note: the smallest "mushroom" is actually a little cluster of 3 - the tops are in one die!)
Now, adhere the "fern" DSP piece to the Mossy Meadow arch, fitting it first.
Next, adhere the Cajun Craze "mushroom tops" to the matching base, using Multipurpose Glue. The smallest one actually has 3 tops. I couldn't actually determine which one went where, so just go for it!
Then, adhere the 3 "mushrooms" to the "flap" with Multipurpose Glue. (I should have centered mine more, but did mine like she did!
Stamp sentiment in Cajun Craze ink in opening, as shown.
Finish with scattered Brass Butterflies and a little Ladybug on the base front. (Note: there are also some cute "bugs" you could die cut and add - a snail, small butterfly, and small dragonfly! Too cute!)

Purple Caterpillar

I was looking for a quick card for my Senior gals that used the die cuts from the Cute As a Bug DSP, and found this idea by Melva Peters. I tweaked the colors a bit, and I am glad that I did! I hadn't used this background paper, yet, that has a more Vanilla background, it also has some darling, tiny bees! (Hence, the bee die cut!). I think they'll like it!

Measurements:

Blackberry Bliss: 1/2 sheet, 3" x 3 1/2",
Very Vanilla: 2 3/4" x 3", 4" x 5 1/4" (inside)
Basic White: scrap
Cute as a Bee DSP (MC): 4" x 5 1/4" (berry print), 1/2" x 4" strip (inside), 2 die cuts

To Make This Card:

Adhere DSP to folded Blackberry Bliss card base.
Attach the other 2 layers together, and attach to card front.
Die cut 2 images from DSP. Add to card front with Dimensionals.
Stamp sentiment in Gorgeous Grape ink onto scrap of White. Fussy cut around words. Adhere to card with Dimensionals.
Finish card with scattered Purple Fine Shimmer Gems and bow with new Berry Burst Shiny ribbon.

Cute as a Bug Punched Hexagon Card

Patty Bennett does it again! She showed how to create 4 card layers at once, using our Hexagon Punch and a sheet of cardstock! (Check out her video!) She uses several different, interesting DSP's to create these backgrounds. I was playing with the Cute As a Bug, so I jumped on to these samples! She also uses our new Easter Joy DSP and the new Spring Puffy Stickers for a different twist! The "tag" is my own touch. In this case, it needed something, and, of course, I wanted to use those cute Ladybugs!

Measurements:

Poppy Parade: 1/2 sheet
Cute As a Bug(N): 2 1/2" strips of DSP in various patterns, die cut
Mossy Meadow: scrap
Basic White: 2 pcs @ 4" x 5 1/4", scrap

To Make This Card:

For my sample, I just made enough for one card. If you watch Patty's video, she filled a full sheet and made 4 card fronts.
To do that, I punched 9 "Hexagons" from the DSP, including focusing on a couple of the images/vignettes. Be sure to look/use both sides of the DSP! (For the full sheet, you'll need more like 25!).
Lightly score one of the White layers in half both directions. (You'll use this to line up the punched pieces)
I started with the center hexagon and glued (yes, glued) into place. Then, work from the center, out. Adding pieces. Then trim edges. I used those pieces are another punched piece for the 4 tiny corner pieces. And you're done with the background piece.
Adhere to folded card base, of your choosing.
Stamp sentiment onto scrap of White.
Punch with Labeled with Love Punch, and adhere to another Punched piece from Mossy Meadow, split in half lengthwise for a nice layer.
Add to card front with Dimensionals.
Finish front with Old Olive LinenThread Bow and a Ladybug.
Finish the inside with White layer and die cut bug of your choice.
