Gingham Strawberry

Mom & I got together yesterday to create our cards for my Garner classes on Monday. We frequently create using retired products, so I can use up what I have and use some of my favorite stamps!  But the beauty of that is that the designs and layouts are still doable with ANY products you have in your stash!! This one uses the Black Gingham from the retired Host paper pack and a Poppy Parade strawberry.  The inspiration came from the Accordion Fold layout we did in class this week.  See previous post.

Measurements:

  • Basic Black: 1/2 sheet, 3" square
  • Pattern Party DSP (ret): 1 7/8" x 5 1/4", 2 3/4" square
  • Basic White: 4" x 5 1/4", scraps
To Make This Card:

  • Trim 2 1/8" from front of folded Black card.
  • Attach longer strip of DSP to front of card, and smaller square to Black square.
  • Attach White layer to "inside" of card.
  • Stamp sentiment in Black, onto scrap of White.  Cut out with Stitched Rectangle.
  • Stamp solid "strawberry" in stamped off Poppy Parade onto scrap of White, stamped "detail" full strength and punch out with corresponding punch. Repeat with "stem" and Garden Green.  Assemble
  • Add sentiment to square, and pop up strawberry with Dimensional.
  • Finish with Black Matte Dots.

Sweet Strawberry Fun Fold

This was another Shoebox Swap from last weekend designed by one of my Stampin' Sisters from Des Moines. Stitched Lace and Strawberries

Let's take a break from the fun Pop Up Flip cards and look at a retiring die!!

I saw an over-sized version of this card that I fell in love with!  It is a nice combination of retiring (Stitched Lace) and returning (Sweet Strawberry) SU! products!! So, here is my scaled down version!!

Measurements:

  • Basic White: 1/2 sheet,  2 pcs 3 3/4" x 5", scraps - for strawberries, blossoms, etc.
  • Poppy Parade: 4" x 5 1/4"
To Make This Card:

  • Attach Poppy Parade quarter to folded Basic White card.
  • Run one 3 3/4" x 5" Basic White piece through the Stitched Lace die.
  • With the other 3 3/4" x 5" piece cut a rectange "frame" leaving 1/2" around the edges.
  • Attach "lace" to the wrong side of the "frame", then attach over Poppy Parade layer.
  • Now, comes the "fun" part!  Stamp and punch (or fussy cut) a variety of Berries, Blossoms and Leaves, using the stamps in the set and the Strawberry Punch. I stamped off the "solid" stamps, and used the "details" full strength.  For the small flowers, and branch "leaves", I picked up ink and colored lightly with ink and a blender pen.
  • Arrange onto the card as shown. (Note: I like to use an odd number of larger items i.e. strawberries.  I popped the 2 outside ones.)
  • Finish with small pearls in the Blossoms, and a Poppy Parade (ret) knot.
