Z-Fold, Easel Combo Card

I saw this unique fold using the A Child is Born stamp set and knew that I had to figure it out! It's a combination of a Z-Fold, Easel, and Joy Fold. The original was designed by Cheri Stojkovich. I made mine using her dimensions, but next time I'll tweak the base a little, as hers finished 5 1/4" long, and I would prefer it to be a full 5 1/2".  I think everything would fit beterr together and leave more room for the "easel" prop. I love the Elegant Pines Snowflakes DSP from the Online Store! The images from the stamp set are, sadly, fussy cut, but well worth it.  And, to get the nice skin color, the images are stamped onto Basic Beige, and then colored with Watercolor Pencils and a Blender Pen.  It makes for a really nice card!

Measurements:

  • Secret Sea (N): 1/2 sheet cut LENGTHWISE
  • Pretty Peacock: 3 5/8" x 9"
  • Basic Beige: 3 3/8" x 4 1/4", 1/4 sheet (stamped images)
  • Elegant Pines Snowflakes DSP (N)(OE): 3 3/8" x 4 1/4", 2 1/2" x 4" (Secret Sea Pines)
To Make this Card:
  • Create a Z-Fold base from the Secret Sea piece.  Fold in half, and then fold the front back on itself, creating the Z-Fold, OR score at 2 3/4" - 5 1/2".
  • Adhere the shorter piece of DSP to the front flap. Set the base side.
  • Fold the Pretty Peacock piece in half and then adhere the other piece of DSP to the front of this piece.  Keep in mind this has a VERTICAL orientation!
  • Next, stamp the "holy family" and "creche' in Early Espresso ink onto the Basic Beige piece.
  • Color with Watercolor Pencils and blend a bit with a Blender Pen.
  • Fussy cut both pieces with paper snips.
  • Take the Basic Beige layer and stamp the inside with pieces of the stamp set as shown. Then place inside folded Pretty Peacock card.
  • Now take the Pretty Peacock "card" and center and adhere inside of Secret Sea card base. (see photo above).
  • Next adhere larger image to front of Pretty Peacock card.
  • Add "creche" to front flap with Dimensionals, so that the inside, Peacock layer catches on the "creche", to latch it.

2-Tone Peaceful Earth

I saw a version of this card in a different color combination (Lost Lagoon & Pretty Peacock), but decided to try it in shades (thanks to 2-Tone cardstock) of Misty Moonlight!  I love the 2-Tone cardstock with Embossing Folders, and the Peaceful Greenery is particularly stunning, and oh so versatile! I used the dark side of 2-Tone Misty Moonlight for the sanded embossing folder, and a layer of the flip side (lighter side) before I added it to the Misty Moonlight cardstock base!

Measurements:

  • Misty Moonlight: 1/2 sheet
  • 2-Tone Misty Moonlight: 4" x 5 1/4" (dark side), 4 1/8" x 5 3/8" (light side), 2 1/4" x 4" "label" - light side, scraps (sprigs)
  • Basic White 4" x 5 1/4" (inside) 2" x 3 3/4" (label), scrap (dove, sprigs)
To Make This Card:
  • Emboss dark side of 2-Tone Misty Moonlight cardstock with Peaceful Greenery EF. Sand 'til achieve the desired look.
  • Adhere the lighter side of 2-Tone Misty Moonlight cardstock to the folded Misty Moonlight card base.  Then add the embossed layer.
  • Die cut larger "label" with the lighter side up. Also die cut the smaller "label" in White.
  • Die cut several Misty Moonlight "sprigs" in both shades of cardstock, also a couple in White.
  • Die cut the "stars" in 2-Tone as well.
  • Die cut the full "dove" in White. I added a little shading with a Blender Pen and Gray Granite ink.
  • Stamp sentiment in Misty Moonlight ink.
  • Adhere 2 "labels" together and adhere to card front with Dimensionals.
  • Flip and flop Misty Moonlight "sprigs" with the White until desired look.  I did have to trim some to suit my needs, but ended up using both ends!
  • Add the "dove" and "star" as shown.
  • Finish inside with White layer.
  • Finish the front with scattered Blue Flowers.

Peaceful Glitter Dove

I loved the use of the Glimmer paper that goes with the Peaceful Garden Suite. It is spotlighted so nicely! It also uses the versatile Peaceful Greenery EF, that is NOT just for the holidays! The sentiment is from a retired set, but I'm sure that you will have something that would work just a well!

Measurements:

  • Blueberry Bushel: 1/2 sheet
  • Basic White 2 pcs @ 4" x 5 1/4" (one goes inside), 2" x 3 3/4" (label), scrap (dove)
  • Peaceful Garden Glimmer Paper (N): 2 1/4" x 4" (blue)
To Make this Card:
  • Emboss White layer with Peaceful Greenery EF and adhere to folded Blueberry Bushel card base.
  • Die cut large "label" from Blue Glimmer Paper, and smaller "label" from White.  Also, die cut larger "dove". These are from the Peace on Earth Dies.
  • Adhere Glimmer Paper label to designated space on embossed layer.
  • Lay "dove" onto this layer and determine where to cut smaller "label" (so more glimmer paper shows!). Trim.
  • Stamp sentiment in Blueberry Bushel ink, then add to glimmer paper.
  • Next, take "dove" and add a little grey shading with a Blender Pen, and Gray Granite ink. Shape a bit, if desired. Then, add to labels, as shown.
  • Finish inside with White layer.
  • Finish outside with scattered Blue Rhinestones (I used retired Holiday gems).

Peace on Earth Clean & Simple Card

It took me a while to figure out how this card was made! I liked how the Glimmer paper was showing from the center of the embossing folder. And, it took me a while to figure that out.  While the EF is not a Hybrid Folder, the center label die cut CAN be cut at the same time that you emboss with the folder! The designer also used a full 1/4 sheet of Glimmer paper for the layer, with the center cut-out showing in the opening.  I chose to conserve on Glimmer paper, and just add a rectangle of Glimmer paper in the opening, and mount it on Lost Lagoon! Oh, and the actual embossed layer is from the DSP pack.  It's paper! And, is gorgeous!

Measurements:

  • Cloud Cover (N): 1/2 sheet
  • Lost Lagoon: 4 1/8" x 5 3/8"
  • Peaceful Garden Glimmer Paper (N): 2 3/8" x 4 1/4" ("green")
  • Peaceful Garden DSP (N): 4" x 5 1/4", 5/8" x 4" (light blue "watercolor")
  • Basic White: 4" x 5 1/4" (inside)
To Make this Card:
  • Adhere Lost Lagoon layer to folded Cloud Cover card.  You will only have a 1/16" border!
  • Next, dry emboss the Peaceful Garden DSP piece with Peaceful Greenery Embossing Folder, and the larger "label" die, making sure that the "watercolor" side is up.  Keep the inside piece.
  • Now, take the die cut label from the center of the embossed piece, and cut smaller with the smaller label die.  Stamp sentiment of your choice in Lost Lagoon ink.  For mine, I used sentiments from the Peace on Earth stamps.  The "peace" is masked.
  • Adhere the soft "green" glimmer piece behind label opening with Tear and Tape. (Remember it's hard to adhere glitter paper!) Then, adhere to card front.
  • Attach Label to inside opening with Foam Adhesive Sheet squares.
  • Die cut larger "sprig" from scrap of Glimmer paper. Dissect this into 2 pieces and adhere to "label" where desired. I used "green glue", but if I had thought ahead I would have used an adhesive sheet!
  • Finish inside with White layer, and strip of DSP.
  • Finish outside with bow of Silver Cord, and scattered Fine Sparkle Dots (ret)
