Color Blocked Coneflower

I caught a glimpse of this card on a Facebook Reel, grabbed a screenshot, and never found it again!  So, here is my take on this neat Color-Blocked Coneflower. It utilizes the new, Floral Charm DSP, along with the new Floral Impressions DSP and the Coneflower Celebration Dies.  I love the use of that decorative border die, and the little dots that get removed from it!

Measurements:

  • Basic White: 1/2 sheet, scrap
  • Pretty in Pink: 2 1/2" x 4" (detail flower)
  • Blackberry Bliss: 1" x 4 1/4" (border), scrap (flower center)
  • Adhesive Sheet: 1" x 4 1/4"
  • Floral Charm DSP (N): 2 3/8" x 3 3/4" (Blackberry Bliss print)
  • Floral Impressions DSP (N): 1" x 4" , 1/2" x 5 1/2" (pink floral), 1" x 3 3/4" (garden green)
To Make This Card:
  • Die cut full "coneflower" from Pretty in Pink 2-Tone cardstock. Die cut "detail coneflower" from regular cardstock, and lastly die cut flower "center" from Blackberry Bliss cardstock.
  • Fold full flower in half so the lighter color is facing out.  Add the detail and then the center.
  • Shape the top layer with a bone folder, and then add a little Wink of Stella to these petals and the center.  Set aside.
  • Start the Color-Block effect from the left.  Add the floral piece, with a narrow border.
  • Adhere adhesive sheet to back of Blackberry Bliss piece and cut out 2 circular borders. Save some of the dots for later.
  • Remove the backing of one, and adhere to the card front close to cut edge of floral piece.
  • Next, add Blackberry Bliss piece, centering between the border and the cut edge.  You should have a narrow border on the top and right.
  • Next, add the other circular border.  You will need to carefully remove one ring with Paper Snips.
  • Lastly, add the Garden Green DSP, centering below the upper DSP and border.
  • Take 6 dots from the border, remove backing, and then add to Garden Green piece, as shown.
  • Stamp sentiment in Blackberry Bliss ink onto scrap of White.  Die cut with smallest Textured Notes Dies.  Add to card front with Dimensionals, centering in Garden Green piece.
  • Finish by stamping sentiment in Blackberry Bliss ink inside "flower", then attaching the flower, at an angle, to the Blackberry DSP.
  • And, then add scattered clear Strawberry Slush and Pretty in Pink gems.

Charming Day Modified Gate Fold

Time to play with this gorgeous bundle - Charming Day. Gorgeous stamps, gorgeous dies, and beautiful DSP and accessories!  I found this interesting idea that utilizes a Gate Fold base, but with another set of panels on top. Very pretty! Don't you just love the colors in the DSP!!  So, we will be making this card in class this week!

Measurements:

  • Blackberry Bliss: 1/2 sheet
  • Berry Burst: 3 3/4" x 5"
  • Floral Charm DSP (N): 3 1/2" x 4 3/4" (Berry Floral), 2 pcs @ 1 7/8" x 5 1/4" (Blackberry Print)
  • Very Vanilla: 4" x 5 1/4" (inside), 3 1/2" square (die cut circle)
  • Pecan Pie: scrap
  • Fresh Freesia: scrap
To Make This Card:
  • Score the Blackberry Bliss base @ 2 1/8" from each end, creating a "Gate Fold".  Crease well. (I switched the base color from Vanilla (see above photos) to Blackberry Bliss, because I didn't like the look of the Vanilla edges under the dark Blackberry Bliss layers.)
  • Adhere large Very Vanilla piece to the inside.
  • Adhere the 2 Blackberry Print DSP pieces to the front "gates".
  • Adhere the Berry Floral to the Berry Burst layer, then adhere to "left" gate of card front.
  • Stamp the sentiment in Berry Burst ink, near bottom of Vanilla square. Then, die cut "fancy" circle from the Spotlight on Nature Dies, so the sentiment is near the bottom as far as possible.
  • Die cut the "stem & leaves" from the single flower in Pecan Pie, and the single "rose" that's on that die, from Fresh Freesia.
  • Adhere the "stem" so that it lies between the "happy" and "birthday".
  • Add some Berry Burst ink to the details of the "rose", and adhere it over the "stem". (be sure to trim off the "calyx" first.)
  • Now, you can add the circle to the front of card with Dimensionals.
  • Finish the outside with a little Wink of Stella on the "rose", a Linen Thread bow to the "stem", and scattered, new Charming Simmer Dots.
  • Finish the inside with a sentiment and single rose stamped on the inside in Berry Burst ink.

Layered Florals Reverse Blackout Technique

This gorgeous, retired embossing folder is all over the internet using this awesome technique! So many options with what colors to use, or not, and with a BLACK background, is absolutely stunning.  For this sample, I colored FIRST (yes, wrong side & into the recesses), and then added the Black ink to the wrong side, of the background.  Add a sentiment from the More Messages and a few scattered bling, and you're done! The picture, here, just doesn't do this card justice!

Measurements:

  • Balmy Blue: 1/2 sheet
  • Basic Black: 4" x 5 1/4"
  • Basic White: 4 1/8" x 5 3/8" (embossed), 4" x 5 1/4" (inside) scrap
To Make This Card:
  • Emboss larger White piece with Embossing Folder.  (I actually think the Hibiscus folder in the Online Store would be good, too!)
  • Flip over to the "wrong" side (the images will be more "recessed", If you get it wrong, you'll know when you add the background.  Believe me, I did!)
  • I colored all the leaves, first, in Granny Apple Green.  Then I colored all the flower centers in Daffodil Delight.
  • Decide what color ink you prefer for the background, and drag it over the cardstock, tipping the ink pad, so you are just using a "flat edge".  If you feel the need to darken the color, try lightly circling the ink color..
  • Layer the colored piece to the Black layer.  Then, add to folded Balmy Blue card base.
  • For the sentiment, I did a full sheet of the messages from the More Messages bundle, and chose one that I wanted, and added to the card front with Dimensionals.
  • Then, I added scattered Iridescent, Faceted Gems and Wink of Stella to the flowers, and Voila, you're done!
