Layered Fern & Flora

I got this gorgeous card in my swap at my Stampin' Up! event in Michigan!  What an awesome way to use up those paper scraps!!  My card creating doesn't usually go this direction! But, I love the result! There is so much color and texture to this card!  And, then add a new, foiled butterfly, it's just awesome!

Measurements:

  • Secret Sea: 1/2 sheet
  • Basic White: 1/4 sheet, 3/4" x 1 3/4" (label)
  • Old Olive: 2 1/4" x 3" (embossed)
  • Moonlit Flora DSP (OE): 3" x 4" (print with Glow, white ferns)
  • Golden Glow (N): 2 1/4" x 3 1/4" (foiled butterfly)
  • Gold Foil: 3/4" x 3 1/2"
To Make This Card:

  • Emboss Old Olive piece with Fern & Flora 3D Embossing Folder.
  • Foil largest butterfly from the Butterfly Flight Foiling Die in Gold Foil onto Golden Glow cardstock.
  • Next, adhere the DSP to the folded Secret Sea card.
  • Then, add the Old Olive piece, as shown.
  • Now, add the Gold Foil piece.
  • And, finally pop up the foiled Butterfly with Dimensionals.
  • Stamp sentiment in Secret Sea ink onto the small label and add to card front.
  • For the inside, add the White layer.  Then, stamp sentiment in Secret Sea, and butterflies from All Aflutter Set in Golden Glow.
  • Finish the front with Secret Sea InColor Pearls.

Soft Green Foiled Butterflies

As I search for inspiration for our new foiling products, I keep an eye out for interesting color combinations! This one caught my eye!  I love aqua and teal colors!  This one uses Lost Lagoon and Pretty Peacock!  But, there is also some Coastal Cabana in the butterflies!  I just LOVE the Swiss Dots for a sparkly background!

Measurements:

  • Pretty Peacock: 1/2 sheet
  • Lost Lagoon: 4 1/8" x 5 3/8"
  • Basic White: 1/4 sheet (Butterflies); 2 pcs @ 4" x 5 1/4" (one for inside); 1 1/2" x 4" (sentiment)
To Make this Card:

  • Foil one White layer with Swiss Dots Hot Foil Die and Gold Foil.
  • Adhere Lost Lagoon layer, and foiled layer to folded Pretty Peacock card base.
  • Next, Hot Foil the Butterfly Flight Die in Gold Foil onto quarter sheet of White.
  • Color, using masks.  Start with Coastal Cabana, a blending brush, and mask #1. Then, switch to Lost Lagoon with mask #2, and finish with Pretty Peacock ink and mask #3.
  • Now, you can die cut your "butterflies".
  • Select a sentiment to foil in Gold Foil. Die cut with corresponding die.
  • I decided to make this a "Landscape" card, so I started with the sentiment first.  Then, added the largest butterfly, shaping it a bit with a bone folder! I then had to decide how many other butterflies I wanted to use.  I chose the 2 smaller ones!  I adhered them with a strip of Tear & Tape down the "body" center.
  • I finished the front with retired Tinsel Gems.
  • For the inside, after adding a White layer, I chose one of the remaining butterflies and added it to the inside.  I saved the other for another project.

Butterfly Flight meets Fern & Flora

You don't have to use the masks to make neat foiled butterflies! This quick card by Pamela Blackwell, pairs the Hot Foiled Butterflies from the Butterfly Flight bundle with the DSP and dies from the Fern & Flora Bundle. Pretty Classy!  I love how it turned out!

Measurements:

  • Secret Sea: 1/2 sheet
  • Berry Burst: 4 1/8" x 5 3/8", 1/4 sheet (foiled butterflies), scrap
  • Moonlit Flora (N): 4" x 5 1/4"
  • Basic White: 4" x 5 1/4" (inside), scraps
  • Soft Sea Foam: 3" x 4" (ferns)
To Make this Card:

  • Layer Berry Burst and DSP onto folded Secret Sea card base.
  • Heat Foil the Butterfly Flight die in Gold Foil onto Berry Burst piece. Then, die cut with corresponding die. Set these aside.
  • Next, die cut 1 ea of the 2 "ferns" in the Fern & Flora dies in Soft Sea Foam
  • Also die cut the small flowers (they look like bows or bugs) in White, and the centers in Berry Burst (you'll need 2 of these).
  • To assemble the "flowers" you'll criss-cross the pieces, after first pairing them up.  Add center of your choice. I did this with Multipurpose Glue.
  • Stamp and heat emboss "label" in Gold. Die cut with corresponding die.
  • Add sentiment in Berry Burst ink.
  • Shape the "butterflies" with bone folder.
  • Adhere the largest to the upper left of card front, as shown.
  • Then, determine where label will go, and adhere "ferns" so they will end up below and above the label, which is popped up with Dimensionals.
  • Next, add the 2 smaller "butterflies" to the front.  I used Dimensionals, but Tear n Tape works well, too.
  • Finish front with small "flowers" and Berry Burst Garden Epoxy Dies.
  • Finish the inside with White insert, and one of the left over "butterflies" and Garden Dots.
