Springtime Scenes Floating Cut Out Card

I found this fun card using the new Springtime Scenes Bundle. It's an oldie but goodie fun fold that I haven't done in ages! I don't think it was called a "Floating Cut Out" card, but I honestly don't remember what it was called! This version was designed by Heidi Collins, and uses the stamps from the Springtime Scenes Stamps and the DSP from the Homemade Sweetness DSP, all in the Online Store.

Measurements:

  • Basic White: 1/2 sheet cut LENGTHWISE, 3" square (stamped circle), 3/4" x 3" (mechanism), scrap
  • Homemade Sweetness DSP (N): 4" x 5 1/4" (Ladybug print)
  • Strawberry Slush: 3 1/4" square
To Make This Card:

  • Adhere DSP to folded White card base with Multipurpose Glue.
  • Die cut largest circle from the Stylish Shapes Dies, through all layers of front.  Also cut one large circle from Strawberry Slush cardstock.
  • Die cut circle from Springtime Scenes circles.
  • Stamp "grass" in Garden Green and Granny Apple Green ink. Stamp sentiment in black ink, as shown.
  • Stamp "ladybug" in black ink and color with Blends.  Die cut with corresponding die.  Also, die cut 3 small, white flowers.
  • Let's assemble the circle Focal Point. First, attach White circle to Strawberry Slush layer. Add "ladybug" to "grass" with a Dimensional. Then add 3 flowers.
  • Now, to add the "mechanism".
  • Score the small piece, along the 3" side @ 3/4" - 1 1/2" - 2 1/4". Crease well with "mountain" folds
  • Fold this piece in half, so cut edges meet.  Place Tear n Tape on the end sections of the "top" and the "bottom". Center the "mechanism" inside the card, with the cut edges even with the crease in the card.
  • Lastly, close card. Place adhesive onto the exposed mechanism and insert circle through opening and attach to "mechanism.
  • Finish with small Strawberry Slush Flat Pearls.

Springtime Scenes Z Fold

As you know I love, love, love unique dies, and the dies in the Springtime Scenes Bundle in the Online Store definitely "fit the bill"! This card also uses the darling "ladybug" die cuts! This inspiration comes from Amy Koenders. Her base color is Calypso Coral, paired with our brighter greens, AND the darling "Ladybug" print from Homemade Sweetness DSP! We will be making this card in class this week!

Measurements:

  • Calypso Coral:1/2 sheet, scraps
  • Basic White: 3 3/4" x 5" (inside), 3 1/4" square (circle die)
  • Secret Sea: 4" x 5 1/4" (inside), 1 7/8" x 5 1/4", scraps
  • Lemon Lime Twist: 3 1/4" square (base), 2 pcs @ 1/2" x 2 1/4" (leaves)
  • Granny Apple Green: 3 1/4" square (leaf circle), 2 pcs @ 1 1/2" x 2 1/4" (leaves)
  • Adhesive sheet (optional): for circle leaves
  • Homemade Sweetness DSP (N)(OE): 1 3/4" x 5" (ladybug print)
To Make This Card:

  • Take Calypso Coral base and fold in half. Then, to create the "Z" fold, fold the front back on itself. Crease well.
  • Next, adhere the Secret Sea layers to the inside and front flap.
  • Then, add DSP to the front flap.
  • Now, we're going to stamp and color the White inside layer. Stamp the "grass" in Granny Apple Green on the bottom. Stamp the "ladybug" in Secret Sea ink, and color with Secret Sea Blends, and Calypso Coral Blends. Lastly, randomly stamp the flower in Secret Sea ink.
  • For the circle focal point. Use the largest circle from the Stylish Shapes and cut from the Lemon Lime Twist piece.
  • For the "detailed leaves circle" die cut from the Granny Apple Green piece. Note: I would recommend adhering an Adhesive Sheet to the back before die cutting!
  • I would also add Adhesive Sheet to "detailed leaf layer" cut from Granny Apple Green, as well, and mounted to a "solid" Lemon Lime Twist leaf.
  • And, lastly, die cut the thin White circle from the die with the bundle!
  • Also, die cut the "solid ladybug" from Secret Sea and the "dots" from Calypso Coral. Adhere together with "green glue".
  • Now, it's time to assemble the entire circle.
  • Adhere the "detailed leaf circle" to the Lemon Lime Twist base.  Then add the White circle on top.
  • Put the 2 pcs of the "leafy sprigs" together and attach to circle.  And then add the "Ladybugs".
