Rustic Crate Fold Back Card

I just love this card fold, which is new to me!  Not complicated at all, just creative! I found the original directions from Patty Bennett. This fold gives the illusion of a tucked under front flap, when really it's the outside piece that folds back, releasing the focal point! This sample uses papers from the All About Autumn DSP (due in soon), along with accents of Distressed Gold Specialty Paper. As well as the fall image from the Rustic Crate Bundle! I need to create another sample using this fold!!  Stay tuned!!

Measurements:

  • Copper Clay (N): 1/2 sheet, 3 1/4" square (circle), 1 1/2" strip (crate)
  • All About Autumn DSP (N): 3" x 5 1/4" (Copper Clay foil), 7/8" x 5 1/4" (trees)
  • Crushed Curry: 3" square (circle)
  • Very Vanilla: 3" x 5 1/4" (inside), scrap (image)
  • Distressed Gold Specialty Paper: scraps
To Make This Card:

  • Fold Copper Clay card base in half.  Trim 1" from front of card.  Also score back of card at 1".  Fold back, and then return into place.
  • Attach Copper Clay foil DSP to front flap, and "trees" to the creased, right flap.
  • Adhere Vanilla piece to inside.
  • Cut 2 circles from Stylish Shapes dies.  The Copper Clay layer is larger than the Crushed Curry one. Attach together. Set aside.
  • To create the "crate". Die cut the 2 pieces of the "crate" from Copper Clay.
  • Fold "flaps" for the "back" piece to the INSIDE of the "crate".  Place 1/8" Tear n Tape on the longer edges (if you don't have 1/8" Tear n Tape trim the 1/4" tape down), and Glue Dots on the smaller pieces.
  • To bring out the wood grain of the front of the crate, burnish Early Espresso ink onto front with small Blending Brush.
  • Now, you can add the front of the "crate" to the adhesive on the back, making a cute, 3D "crate".
  • To finish the details on the "crate", you will need to cut the "label" and "reinforcements" from Distressed Gold, and another "label" from Very Vanilla - for the center of the "label".
  • Adhere the "reinforcements" to "crate" where shown.
  • Assemble the "label" after stamping sentiment in Copper Clay ink.  I just put scotch tape on the back to put it together, then added it to the "crate". Set aside.
  • Now, stamp the "fall image" in Memento ink onto a scrap of White.  Color with Blends, as shown.  Die cut with corresponding die.
  • Adhere "crate" to double circles, making sure colored image will fit in the "crate" AND the circle!
  • Next, place circles onto card front where desired.  Overlapping on to right side.  Attach to 1" flap with Tear n Tape.
  • Finish with scattered Neutrals Sequins.
