Poinsettia Crate Back Fold Card

As promised, I wanted to create another Back Fold Card!  This one is similar to my previous one, but different, and, a "Becky Original"! This one uses the poinsettia image from the Rustic Crate Bundle and the versatile Joy of Christmas DSP. The color of the crate was a bit of a challenge.  Originally, I cut one from Pebble Path (a color in the DSP), but most of my other crates were a little "glitzier" (is that a word?).  So, I used one of the other colors in the Silver Foil pack, and LOVE it!  Also, notice that I fussy cut one of the poinsettias for a little dimension.  Just a little different touch to this image!  We will be doing this one in class Wednesday.  Enjoy!

Measurements:

  • Real Red: 1/2 sheet, 3 1/4" square (circle)
  • Joy of Christmas DSP (N): 3" x 5 1/4" (Holly print), 7/8" x 5 1/4" (red print)
  • Old Olive: 3" square (circle), scrap
  • Silver Foil: 1 1/2" strip
  • Basic White: 3" x 5 1/4" (inside), scraps (image)
To Make This Card:

  • Fold Real Red card base in half.  Trim 1" from front of card.  Also score back of card at 1".  Fold back, and then return into place.
  • Attach Holly print DSP to front flap, and "red print" to the creased, right flap.
  • Adhere White piece to inside.
  • Cut 2 circles from the 2 largest Stylish Shapes dies.  The Real Red layer is larger than the Old Olive one. Attach together.
  • Attach these circles to the 1" flap with Tear n Tape, making sure that you only attach the right side of the circle.
  • To create the "crate". Die cut the 2 pieces of the "crate" from Silver Foil (I used the medium tone).
  • Initially, I wasn't sure I needed the back piece of the crate, as I didn't want the bulk of the 3D look.  But my image didn't "fill" the crate front, so I decided to cut off the "flaps" (i.e. the dimension) of the back piece, and just adhere the 2 pieces together with 1/8" Tear n Tape. (you CAN just cut the 1/4" tape in half) Set this aside.
  • Now, stamp 2 "poinsettia" images in Memento Black. You will need 2 if you are going to fussy cut one flower, if not, then just stamp one.
  • Color with one completely Blends. Then die cut this one out with the corresponding die. If you are making this dimensional, just color the full "poinsettia" and fussy cut it out, right along the black lines, with Paper Snips.
  • Next, tuck the full "poinsettias" into the "crate.  I made sure that the "leaves" of the top flower one were out, and most of the image was in the "crate". Attach to crate, then add to circles.
  • If desired, add fussy cut "poinsettia" to image with one Dimensional.
  • To finish the details on the crate, die cut one label from Old Olive. Stamp sentiment in black, and add to "crate".
  • If desired, there are also other details/"reinforcements" that you can add to the crate.
  • Finish by adding "poinsettia centers" with Glossy Dots.
