I love the use of the Textured Notes Dies with the Lovely Garden DSP, all in the Online Store, along with the Thankful Garden masks and dies! It also uses the new Corrugated Embossing Folder from the Online Store.
Measurements:
- Basic White: 4" x 5 1/4" (embossed), 3 1/4" x 4 1/4" (flower)
- Thick Basic White: 1/2 sheet
- Crushed Curry: 1 5/8" x 3"
- Lovely Garden DSP (OE): 3 pcs @ 2 1/4" x 3 1/2" from 3 different DSP patterns, 1/2" x 4" strip from one of the patterns
To Make This Card:
- Run trimmed 1/4 sheet of White cardstock through new Corrugated Embossing Folder. Attach to folded Thick White card
- Choose 3 different DSP patterns and cut each from Textured Notes Die that will fit the DSP piece. Lay and then adhere to card front as shown, starting with the center piece first.
- Now, to color the flower with the masks. I originally just used Lemon Lolly and Daffodil Delight, but the 2nd layer of the Lemon Lolly is fading. So, I would recommend using 3 complementary colors for the flower. So, I am adding Crushed Curry. One color for the Leaves is just fine. I used Garden Green. Preferably one that is in the DSP! It really is pretty easy...and fun to do!
- To begin, I would get a scrap of paper to put under your piece of White that you will be "coloring". I would attach this to the scrap paper with Painters Tape, Post It Note Tape, or Washi Tape.
- Take the mask marked #1. Lay it on the card so, you will have enough room for the leaves. (You could stamp it first, as a guide, but then the outline gets a little "muddy" from all the ink). Use removeable tape to adhere the #1 mask over the White piece. You will also want to mark the "V" placement cut from the mask onto your scrap paper. Now take a Blending Brush (I prefer the large) and burnish in the base color. I started with Lemon Lolly, or the lightest.
- Remove that mask, and go to mask #2 (additional detail). Line it up over the colored base, as well as the "V" placement mark. Add more color in Daffodil Delight. (I used the same brush).
- Remove that mask, and go to mask #3 (even more detail). Line it up, over the previous color, as well as the "V" placement mark, and add the final detail with the darkest, or contrasting color - i.e. Crushed Curry. This is more subtle. Your flower is done!!
- Now, we'll move to the leaves.
- Take mask #4, and line up the "V" placement mark, making sure the leaf mask is UNDER the flowers. Burnish in the "base" green color. Again I used a large Blending Brush. Remove this mask and finish up with the leaf "detail" and mask #5. Since you are using the same color, use the same brush!
- NOW, you can line up and stamp the flower image over the color. (Unless you did it before.)
- Now, you're ready to cut out the image with the corresponding die!
- Attach die cut image to card front with Dimensionals.
- Lastly, stamp sentiment in black onto Crushed Curry piece, and die cut with Textured Notes Die that matches the size.
- Finish the inside with a strip of DSP.
- Finish with scattered Starburst Sequins from the Online Store, and a little Wink of Stella on the flowers.
