Modern Christmas Clean & Simple Card

I totally missed posting this sample. It's an awesome layout that just uses DSP!! So, I'm sharing it, now, for inspiration!!

Cute as a Bug Punched Hexagon Card

Patty Bennett does it again! She showed how to create 4 card layers at once, using our Hexagon Punch and a sheet of cardstock! (Check out her video!) She uses several different, interesting DSP's to create these backgrounds. I was playing with the Cute As a Bug, so I jumped on to these samples!  She also uses our new Easter Joy DSP and the new Spring Puffy Stickers for a different twist! The "tag" is my own touch.  In this case, it needed something, and, of course, I wanted to use those cute Ladybugs!

Measurements:

  • Poppy Parade: 1/2 sheet
  • Cute As a Bug(N): 2 1/2" strips of DSP in various patterns, die cut
  • Mossy Meadow: scrap
  • Basic White: 2 pcs @ 4" x 5 1/4", scrap
To Make This Card:
  • For my sample, I just made enough for one card.  If you watch Patty's video, she filled a full sheet and made 4 card fronts.
  • To do that, I punched 9 "Hexagons" from the DSP, including focusing on a couple of the images/vignettes. Be sure to look/use both sides of the DSP! (For the full sheet, you'll need more like 25!).
  • Lightly score one of the White layers in half both directions. (You'll use this to line up the punched pieces)
  • I started with the center hexagon and glued (yes, glued) into place.  Then, work from the center, out.  Adding pieces. Then trim edges.  I used those pieces are another punched piece for the 4 tiny corner pieces.  And you're done with the background piece.
  • Adhere to folded card base, of your choosing.
  • Stamp sentiment onto scrap of White.
  • Punch with Labeled with Love Punch, and adhere to another Punched piece from Mossy Meadow, split in half lengthwise for a nice layer.
  • Add to card front with Dimensionals.
  • Finish front with Old Olive LinenThread Bow and a Ladybug.
  • Finish the inside with White layer and die cut bug of your choice.

Sweet Bugs Stadium Wave Card

I saw this awesome card on a reel, and knew I had to find out how to make it!  I had to do a little research, but I finally found the directions! It takes a little time (to make the 7 waves) but, in the end, it's really easy to do! I finally found directions from the Stamp Doc - Melissa Stout!  And, in doing further research, this fold "made the rounds" 2 years ago!!  Guess I missed it!  I WILL be trying another one!  Hope to have a class!!

Measurements:

  • Old Olive: 2 - 1/2 sheets (1 for base, 1 for "mechanism")
  • Basic White: 2 1/4" x 2 1/2" (inside), scraps
  • Cute as a Bug DSP (N): 2 pcs @ 3 7/8" x 5 1/4" inside (sm flowers); "Picnic" panel (front); die cut bugs
To Make This Card:
  • Take one of the 1/2 sheets of Old Olive, for the base, and score @ 4 1/8" x 4 3/8". Crease and set aside.
  • Take the other 1/2 sheet of Old Olive and use the diagrams above to make the "waves".  First, score @ 1/2" - 3 1/2" - 4 1/2" - 5 1/2".  Then, turn the piece and cut apart into 7 - 3/4" strips. You'll have a little left over that you will not use.
  • Next, crease each strip creating a "valley" fold.  the 1/2" at the bottom you will use to attach the top and bottom together.
  • To make the entire "mechanism", first place tear n tape on the right side of each "wave" with the folds to the top.
  • Then, assemble them together over lapping them 3/8" and adhering them to the tear n tape.
  • Lastly, place tear n tape on the top and bottom "waves". These will adhere them to the inside of the card.
  • Now, adhere the 2 small flower DSP pieces to the inside.  Trim the "picnic" panel to 4" x 5 1/4" and adhere to the front.
  • I decided to try starting to insert the "mechanism" by placing Multipurpose Glue to the "spine" of the card, lining it up with the left side where desired.  I let this dry.
  • Next, I removed the tear in tape of the top "wave" and closed the card.  Repeat for the bottom "wave".  And, voila the wave is done!  It's really NEAT!!
  • Finish by decorating each wave with a die cut bug - or you can skip a wave, or whatever you'd like.  You can also add sentiments and embellishments as the "theme" dictates!

Valentine Kissing Booth

I found this cute sample by Debbie Henderson using the darling Valentine Kisses bundle in the Online Exclusives! It also uses the Made with Love DSP from the Jan-Apr Mini Catalog. The little hearts are from the Loose Valentine Assortment, too clever! We also made this sample at my Senior Center class.

Measurements:

  • Real Red: 1/2 sheet
  • Basic White: 2 pcs @ 4" x 5 1/4", scraps
  • Bubble Bath: 2" x 2 1/2" (booth), scrap
  • Pecan Pie: 2 3/4" square
  • Made with Love DSP (N): 3 7/8" x 5 1/8", 1/2" x 5 1/8" strip
To Make This Card:
  • Begin by taking the DSP piece and cut it at 2 5/8" making 2 pieces.
  • Adhere to one White layer. The larger, dotty piece at the top and the hearts at the bottom.  There is only a 1/16" border.
  • Before adhering to the Real Red card base, run tape runner over strip of ribbon and adhere over where the 2 pieces of cardstock meet, wrapping the ends to the back.
  • Now, you can attach this piece to the folded Real Red card base.
  • Next, die cut the "kissing booth" from Bubble Bath cardstock. Place glue dots on the right side of the "supports" and then adhere to the "booth base".
  • Attach Dimensionals to the "booth" and adhere to card base about 1" from the right side, with "counter top" just below the ribbon.
  • Next, stamp large "bear" and "booth bear" in Early Espresso ink onto Pecan Pie cardstock. Cut out with corresponding dies.
  • Place "booth bear", flat inside the booth, and attach the "bear" near "booth", as shown, with Dimensionals.
  • Complete the card with the little "bouquet" stamped in Real Red ink onto Bubble Bath cardstock, little "plaque" in White with Real Red stamped hearts, and sentiment stamped in Real Red ink on strip of White.
