Fragrant Layers "Framed" card

The inspiration for this sample came from Patty Bennett.  She has quite an extensive video on using this bundle! I learned a lot from her, will use some at a later date!  For this one, I wanted to use the stamps with the "frame" die.  I used her layering ideas, color and DSP idea, but *I* designed the "frame". (Which I love!)  There are SO MANY possibilities for colors and layering, take some time to "play"!

Measurements:

  • Real Red: 1/2 sheet
  • Made with Love DSP (N): 4" x 5 1/4" (Red and Strawberry Dots)
  • Basic White: 3 1/2" x 4 3/4" (layer), 2 7/8" x 3 7/8" (stamped image), 4" x 5 1/4" (inside)
  • Strawberry Slush: 3 1/2" x 4 3/4" (layer)
  • Smoky Slate: 2 7/8" x 3 7/8" ("main frame")
  • Basic Gray: 2 7/8" x 3 7/8" ("shadow frame")
To Make This Card:

  • Stamp the "detailed" floral image in Memento Black ink onto smallest White piece.
  • Stamp the solid "flowers" in Pretty in Pink ink, the centers in Melon Mambo ink, and the Leaves in Lemon Lime Twist. Note: The leaves are all separate.  Line all 3 up to stamped floral images and place them on ONE BLOCK, and stamp all at once. Thank you, Patty!
  • If desired, add more color/shading to the flowers in Melon Mambo ink with a sponge dauber.  I added a little more green to the leaves with a Q-Tip.  I also painted Wink of Stella onto the flowers.  Set aside.
  • Now, for all the layers.  Mount DSP and White layer to folded Real Red card.
  • Die cut Strawberry Slush piece with the 2nd to the largest Perennial Postage Die. Add to card front.
  • Die cut the "floral frame" from both the Smoky Slate and Basic Gray layers.
  • Adhere the Smoky Slate layer first to the stamped image.  I used Multipurpose Glue.  You may also have to twist and turn the White piece to fit the die cut image.  That's ok.  Just trim away whatever White is showing.
  • As a final touch, trim the Basic Gray piece close to the edge.  I used the guides on our trimmer along with a nice, sharp blade!
  • Add this on top of the Smoky Slate layer using Multipurpose Glue!  This also creates some nice, raised detail!
  • Adhere this to front of card.
  • Finish front with Strawberry Slush and Pretty in Pink Gems and a double bow of Strawberry Slush Twine.
