Lily of the Valley Accordion Fold

I shared a photo of this awesome card with my Stamp Club, and it was, hands down, a favorite of everyone! They all wanted to make it!  So, of course I'm obliging!  It really is a neat fold, and a neat finished project, using really neat supplies! The base is Basic Beige, and all of the papers are from the new Valley in Bloom DSP. Most of the papers are from one of the border papers, which is really amazing.  Each card looks different!

Measurements:

  • Basic Beige: 5 1/2" x 11" (base)
  • Sunset Shimmer (N): 2 1/2" x 3 3/4" (beige)
  • Valley in Bloom DSP (N): 3 3/4" x 5 1/4" (inside back - Beige Print); 4 pcs @ 1 1/8" x 1 5/8" (sm sections Panels 2 & 3 - Beige Print); 2 pcs @ 3 1/8"  x 5 1/4" (Panels 1 & 4 - Corner flowers) you'll cut as you go; 1 5/8" x 2 7/8' (panel 3 - Floral); 2 pcs @ 2 1/4" x 3 1/2" (1- front arch - Lower Border) (1-inside sentiment - left over)

To Make this Card:

  • Score base along 11" side @ 1 3/4" - 3 1/2" - 5 1/4" - 7".
  • Turn piece to 5 1/2" side. Make you'll make 2 slits in the card base. Start the first one at  the first score line and cut to the 3rd score line at 1 1/4". Flip and repeat for the other side.
  • Lightly crease in an "accordion" fold, starting at the "back" of the card (4th score line) into a "mountain" fold., crease complete score line well. Then crease the top and bottom sections of the 3rd score lines into "valley" folds.
  • Crease the top and bottom  of the 2nd score line into a "mountain" fold - the center section should protrude out - and then crease the top and bottom of the 1st score line into a "valley" fold.  The center does not get creased.  The score line will be covered by the arch.
  • Next, adhere the large Beige print to the inside, back.
  • Take the corner piece for panels 1 and 3. To make this piece easier to work with, I cut it at 3 1/8", but them trimmed it at 1 5/8" for the first panel, and fit and adhered the remaining piece to the 3rd panel.
  • Next, I added the smaller Beige print pieces to those smaller areas on panels 2 and 3.
  • Then, I added the other print to the center section of Panel 3.
  • Now, die cut one arch from Sunset Shimmer Specialty Paper. Then, cut 2 smaller arches from the bottom pieces of the border DSP.
  • Adhere the front arch to the Shimmer Paper. Then, attach to the center front panel of Panel 2, so that the top corner just missed the bottom arch.
  • Center and adhere the inside arch to the back panel, making sure it is hidden behind the front arch.
  • Finish by stamping sentiments in Pretty Peacock ink, adding Shimmering Dots, and a Linen Thread Bow.
