Becky's Stampin' Studio: Pop Up Standing Card

I saw this awesome post of a Fun Fold Class using the Valley in Bloom Suite and All Aflutter Bundle. The folds were absolutely amazing, many of which I had never seen before. So, after some investigating, I bought the instructions for this class, something I rarely do, but these were so worth it. The designer is Liz Shannon from the UK. She is a very talented demonstrator. However, this sample she designed for a 6" square envelope...I prefer a more "standard" sized card, so I figured out a version that would fit in an A2 envelope! I am doing this card in a class in June, and feel it still needs a little "tweaking" but this is what I've figured out so far...and I LOVE it! I also changed the colors up a little bit, and put some acetate between the 2 frames to support the flowers a little better. If you live anywhere close by, you're going to want to come this card class!!

Measurements:

Thick Basic White: 1 1/2" x 8 1/2" (base), 2 pcs @ 2 1/8" x 4 1/4" (hexagon "frames"); 1 3/8" x 1 3/4" (die cut "extension"); scraps
Basic White: 2 1/2" x 4 1/4" (2 flower stems), 2 pcs @ 1 1/8" square (sentiment); scrap (butterfly)
Coastal Cabana: 6 pcs @ 1 1/4" square
Granny Apple Green: 2" x 3 1/2"
Acetate (or, Window Sheet): 2 1/8" x 4 1/4"
Valley in Bloom DSP (N): 4 pcs @ 1 1/8" square

To Make this Card:

Score Thick White base @ 1 3/8" - 2 3/4" - 4 1/8" - 5 1/2" - 6 7/8" - 8 1/4". You should have 1/4" left at the end. Crease all in "mountain" folds.
Take one of the White "sentiment" squares and stamp a small sentiment in Pretty Peacock ink.
Adhere square pieces of DSP and square, White pieces to Coastal Cabana squares.
Then, attach to card base, with the 1/4" to the left, and starting with a piece with the DSP, then another DSP, followed by a the White piece with the sentiment, 2 DSP squares, and then finally the last White square.
Attach Tear & Tape to the 1/4" "extension", and put the base strip together creating a circle. Set aside.
Now, we'll work on the Pop Up.
Tape the 2 smallest "hexagons" from the Nested Essentials Dies together and die cut 2 from Thick White. This will create a "frame". Set one White center aside for the Pop Up mechanism. You will not need the other one.
Then, untape the "hexagons". and cut the largest one of these from a piece of Window Sheet or acetate.
Now, die cut a small rectangle from the retired Unbounded Love Dies, or cut 2 pieces of Thick White cardstock that measure 3/4" x 1". Glue together.
Die cut 2 "sprigs" of Lily of the Valley from "regular" White.
Lastly, die cut 2 "leaves" from Granny Apple Green.
Oh, you'll also need to stamp 2 of the same butterflies in Coastal Cabana ink and punch with All Aflutter Punch. Set aside.
To assemble the Pop Up. Adhere the Window Sheet to one Hexagon "frame". Then adhere the other ontop, leaving the bottom "open".
Color the "stems" of the Lily of the Valley "sprigs" with the Dk Granny Apple Green Blend. If desired, add a little color to the Green "leaves" with either or both Granny Apple Green Blends.
Using Multipurpose Glue, adhere one Lily of the Valley "sprig" to the assembled "hexagon". Flip over and adhere the other one. They don't need to line up.
Then, add one "leave" to the left of one "sprig, lifting one or two flowers to the top of the leaf, then flip over and repeat.
Now, adhere one butterfly to the "frame", as shown, flip it over, and adhere the corresponding one to the other side. Set aside.
Now, for the Pop Up Mechanism.
Take the center of the Hexagon frame. Score down the center (across) from tip to tip. Then score 1/4" from each side of that score line, and 1/4" from each end.
Crease, well, in half. Then, crease score lines on either side up, creating a "trench". Lastly, fold the end score lines up. (you'll test this, later!)
Take the "rectangle extension" and adhere it to the bottom of the "frame" between the 2 layers. I used Tear & Tape.
Next, take the "hexagon" piece with the "trench", place Tear & Tape in the trench so you have adhesive on both sides. Then, insert the "extension" into the trench and press together firmly.
For the last step, insert the Pop Up into the "base", with the "hexagon" trench pointed down, centering behind the "sentiment" square. Place Tear & Tape on the 1/4" left, and adhere to base with the score line even with the bottom, cut edge. Repeat for the back side.
Pull the "frame" up, and it should pop into place! (And stand up).
Finish with double White Baker's Twine bow, and scattered Shimmering Dots.
