Little Cherub in Gilded Spruce

I decided to take a brief break from Bay Window cards, and share a card from a guest designer...my Mom! She created this gorgeous card using the darling little angel in the Angels of Peace stamp set!  All her supplies ARE from Stampin' Up!, however the beautiful oval dies are not. They are from Gina Marie Designs, but you can use whatever dies you have to create this card. It's the inspiration that counts!!  Enjoy!

Measurements:

  • Very Vanilla: 1/2 sheet, 1 3/4" x 2 3/4" (angel)
  • Expressions in Ink DSP: 4" x 5 1/4"
  • Gold Foil: 3 1/2" x 4 1/4"
  • Gold Specialty Paper: 2 3/4" x 3 3/4"
To Make This Card:
  • Attach "veined" Shaded Spruce DSP to folded Vanilla Card.
  • Stamp and emboss little "angel" in gold embossing powder.  Fussy cut her out and set aside.
  • Cut largest oval from Gold Foil, cut another size from 6x6 Gold Specialty Paper. Layer together with Dimensionals, then attach to card front.
  • Add little "cherub" to ovals with Dimensionals.
  • FInish with scattered Gilded Gems.

Little Cherub in a Gorgeous Frame

As I was preparing my instructional video for the Merriest Moments Bundle, I was wanting to do an open frame sample. Mom and I came up with this gorgeous original featuring the Hybrid Embossing Folder and Die with the darling Cherub from the Angels of Peace stamp set.  I have also paired it with our soon-to-be-released Ever Eden Specialty DSP. It is just stunning.

Measurements:

  • Soft Succulent: 1/2 sheet
  • Very Vanilla: 4" x 5 1/4", scrap
  • Brushed Metallics: 1/4 sheet
To Make This Card:

  • Attach Ever Eden DSP to Soft Succulent piece.  Cut stitched rectangle opening in the center. (This die is included in the bundle.)
  • Emboss the Metallic Foil with EF.  Die cut with "detail" die.  Then cut out center. Save this piece. This may flatten it more than expected so you can re-emboss the foil.
  • Now, attach this "frame" around opening with Dimensionals.
  • Place Very Vanilla piece inside.
  • Adhere Foil rectangle through center opening of card.
  • Stamp and emboss Little Cherub in Gold Embossing Powder.  Fussy cut her out.  Attach to Foil Rectangle.
  • Finish with gold embossed "sprigs" and sentiment at the bottom.  I added a Brushed Gold Dot to each sprig.
  • Emboss the Just Jade piece.  This JUST fits, so carefully line it up on the quarter sheet of cardstock.
  • Now, run this piece through the Cut & Emboss, again, this time using the detail die. (there is just minimal flattening.)
  • Attach this piece to the front of card with Dimentionals.
  • Add Very Vanilla to inside of card.
  • Place Brushed Gold rectangle through opening and adhere to inside of card.
  • Emboss Little Cherub in Gold Embossing Powder.  Fussy Cut out with paper snips. Attach to Gold rectangle.
  • Finish inside with Gold Embossed "boughs" and sentiment.  I also added Brushed Gold Dots to the "boughs".

Stunning Coral Angel + Video

I actually started with a version of this that I saw online..  It "morphed" into something different, but I LOVE it.  Haven't you had that happen to you, too!! The background is a "wash" of ink on watercolor paper, that is then run through the Merry Melody 3D embossing folder.  The angel is embossing in gold, watercolored with ink, and then fussy cut.  Again, this is GORGEOUS in person!

Measurements:

  • Petal Pink: 1/2 sheet
  • Gold Foil: 4" x 5 1/4" (with the center cut out)
  • Watercolor Paper: 3 3/4" x 5"
  • Shimmery White: 2 1/2" x 4 1/4", scrap
To Make This Card:

  • Cut center out from Gold Foil. (I use a rectangle die these days, but you can also cut it out with a Paper Trimmer.) Why have all that good, gorgeous paper go to waste under a layer!  Then, cut a small frame from the Ornate Frames from the piece you removed!
  • Mount this to a folded Petal Pink base.
  • Take the largest Watercolor Brush, and saturate the watercolor paper.  Now, take a smaller watercolor brush and pick up some Petal Pink ink from the lid of the ink pad.  If you can't squish enough ink in the lid, use a little reinker. And, brush over a portion of the watercolor paper.  Then, add some Calypso Coral ink.  Continue adding color, until you have a nice all-over watercolor look, in the intensity you would like.  Set aside to dry, while you work on the "angel".
  • Emboss the "angel" in gold embossing powder, onto strip of white.  Watercolor a base color in Petal Pink, first, the darken "creases" of her dress with Calypso Coral.
  • Her "hair" is Lt So Saffron Blend, the bird is Pool Party Blend.  Now, fussy cut her out.
  • Go back to watercolor paper and finish drying with Heat Tool, if necessary.  Then, run through Merry Melody 3D embossing fold.  It's ok if it's a little damp.  Remember we used to spritz the 3D folders!  If necessary, finish drying.
  • Attach to card.  You will want to add adhesive to the entire edge.
  • Stamp and emboss sentiment in gold, and cut out with small Ornate Frame.  Split the Gold Foil frame and place behind.
  • Arrange angel and sentiment.  Attach "angel" to card with Dimensionals.  I attached the sentiment flat.
  • Finish with scattered Champagne Rhinestones, and a bow of gold trimmed Petal Pink ribbon (ret).
  • Fold Pool Party card in half. Run front through new Merry Melody 3D embossing folder.
  • Cut ornate frame from White piece. I used the Thick Basic White so my die cut better!
  • Emboss "angel" in Silver Embossing Powder. (she just fits!)
  • "Watercolor" dress with Pool Party Ink and water painter.  Her "hair" is Lt So Saffron Blend, and the "bird" is Dk Pool Party blend.
  • Attach to card front with Dimensionals.
  • Finish with bow in Pool Party sheer ribbon and scattered Rhinestones.
