Filled with Sweetness Floating Tent Card

Where have I been? I totally missed this Fun Fold when it was "making the rounds". It's called a Floating Tent Card or a Swinging Tent Fold. Anyway, I now know how to make it and it's really fun and easy! I saw this card, and directions by Mary Deatherage! We'll be making this one at Club on Saturday!!

Measurements:

  • Pecan Pie: 1/2 sheet cut LENGTHWISE, 4" x 4 1/4" (accordion fold), 1 1/2" x 2" (mechanism)
  • Basic White: 4" x 5 1/4" (back), 1 1/2" x 2 1/2" (approx), scraps (stamped fruits)
  • Homemade Sweetness DSP (N)(OE): 4" x 5 1/4" (blue gingham), various die cuts from DSP
To Make This Card:
  • Adhere Blue Gingham piece to folded Pecan Pie base. I used Multipurpose Glue so that the piece was adhered all over.
  • Next, die cut center of front from 3rd largest Branching Out Die. Set this aside.
  • While the base is still pretty flat, create back layer, by stamping sentiment in Blueberry Bushel ink, and "strawberry" & "blueberries" in Memento Black ink, and color them in with Blends.
  • Then, add this to the back side of card.
  • Note: If desired, at this time you could also add a piece of DSP to the inside of your card.  You don't see a whole lot of this, so I chose not to do this.
  • For the accordion "stand", score along the 4" side at 1/2" - 1 1/4" - 2" - 2 3/4" - 3 1/2".
  • Fold this piece in half, and then accordion fold, creasing well.
  • Next, adhere this to the inside of the card base, with the 1/2" section attached to the front and back, with the score line/crease even with the cut edge of the card base.
  • Now, to decorate the insert!
  • Fussy cut 2 "jars" of your choice, and one "honey bear"! This is a great time to use only a "partial" bear, as you won't see the entire thing!
  • Making sure your print matches up, start with the "honey bear" and then add the other 2 "jars" of your choice.
  • Stamp the sentiment in Blueberry Bushel ink and die cut with one of the neat tags. Add to piece with Dimensionals.
  • You might want to add any embellishments at this time, while it is still flat.  I used the Strawberry Slush "dots" from the Strawberry & Dots. Set insert aside.
  • Next, stamp 2 "strawberries" and one set of "blueberries" onto scraps of White.  Color with Blends and cut out with corresponding dies.
  • Score the swing "mechanism" @ 3/4".  The width of the mechanism may change based on the die that you used for the "window", but they are all 1 1/2" wide.
  • Now, adhere one side of the "mechanism" to the top of the insert. I used Tear & Tape.
  • Place adhesive on the other side, place insert into the opening, and adhere to the inside.
  • To finish the front, add 2 "strawberries" to either side of opening, as well as one of the "blueberries", and Misty Moonlight Checkered bow.
  • Finish the back with a few more "dots".

Moody Mauve Filled with Happiness

I spotted this card and thought it might be a possibility for my Senior Center class.  I do love how it turned out! So clean and simple with a touch of gold! I can see having several of these on hand, for so many occasions! I debated about mounting this on the gorgeous Gold Foiled Flowers cards and envelopes card, so you might want to give that a try!

Measurements:

  • Moody Mauve: 1/2 sheet
  • Very Vanilla: 1/2 sheet, 3" x 4 1/4", scrap
  • Forever Love DSP (N): 2 3/4" x 4" (Mauve Foil Print)
To Make This Card:

  • Run Moody Mauve layer through new Layered Florals 3D Embossing Folder. Attach to folded Very Vanilla card.
  • Attach the DSP piece to the Vanilla piece. Set aside.
  • Stamp the image in Moody Mauve ink onto scrap of Vanilla.  Punch out with Modern Oval Punch. Attach to DSP piece with Dimensionals.
  • Wrap piece of ribbon underneath the image and tape to the back.
  • Now, attach this entire piece to card with Dimensionals.
  • Finish with a matching Gold & Vanilla bow.
