Amber Autumn Acorn Card

This is a variation of a card that I saw.  The original card was actually an accordion fold using a long piece of DSP! Neat effect, but not practical for a class, when I can only get 2 cards out of a sheet of DSP, or 4 cards from a package! (Ok, for you though!) So, I modified the fold and created it to go on a trimmed base.  Same look, less DSP!!  I really do love the layout of this card!  I was wanting to create a card using the "acorns" from the Amber Autumn Bundle! This one is just perfect!  We did this in my Senior Center class this week...and they loved it!

Measurements:

  • Mossy Meadow: 1/2 sheet
  • Autumn Toile DSP (N) (MC): 2 pcs @ 4" x 5 1/4", 1/2" x 4 1/4" (inside) - (Espresso Trees)
  • Very Vanilla: 3 1/2" square (circle), 3" x 4 1/4" (inside), scrap (image)
  • Crumb Cake: 1" x 3"
To Make this Card:
  • Fold Mossy Meadow card base in half and remove 1" from the front.  You can toss this piece.
  • Take one of the DSP pieces and score at 1".  Fold back and secure.  Adhere to the front flap of folded Mossy Meadow card.
  • Attach the other piece of DSP to the inside.
  • Next, add the Vanilla rectangle to the inside.  Yes, about 1/2" will show from the front! I like this contrast!
  • Stamp acorn image in Early Espresso ink onto scrap of Vanilla. Color with Blends, and die cut with corresponding die.
  • Next, die cut circle from Spotlight on Nature dies.
  • Add "acorns" to circle, just so all edges touch the outside cut edges of the circle.
  • Adhere to front of card as shown.  I placed it so some of the cut parts of the circle show through the back Espresso color.
  • Stamp sentiment in Early Espresso ink onto Crumb Cake label.  Cut the ends at an angle, if desired. Adhere to circle with Dimensionals.
  • Finish inside with strip of DSP.
  • Finish outside with Early Espresso linen thread and scattered Streaked Dots.

Elegant Rustic Fall Card

Don't miss this gorgeous leafy die in the new Mini Catalog!  It's one of the dies in the Amber Autumn Bundle, and it's just beautiful! I've used it with the equally gorgeous and new Earthen Toned Metallic Specialty Paper. The inspiration and design comes from fellow demonstrator Terri Gaines. I love the addition of the panel for the focal point, and split banner underneath.  Just stunning!  Oh, and don't miss the embossed piece of Very Vanilla underneath.  It's embossed with our Birch Wood Embossing Folder.

Measurements:

  • Very Vanilla: 1/2 sheet,  3 7/8" x 5 1/8" (embossed), scrap
  • Earthen Toned Metallic (N) (MC): 4" x 5 1/4" (leaf die cut), 2 3/4" x 3 3/8" (rectangle), scrap
To Make This Card:
  • Run Very Vanilla layer through Birch Wood Embossing Folder. Set aside.
  • Run Metallic Layer through leafy die cut from the Amber Autumn Dies. This is very delicate and has lots of pieces that fall out, but it is SO worth it!
  • Carefully adhere the die cut to the embossed layer with Multipurpose Glue. The embossed layer should be just a little smaller.  I also just put glue on the outside edges and a little on a few of the more solid leaves.  Much of the die will be covered with other things.
  • Adhere this piece to folded Very Vanilla card.
  • Stamp "pumpkin" image in Memento ink onto scrap of Very Vanilla.  Color with fall Blends as shown.  Die cut with corresponding die.
  • Next, die cut rounded rectangle from the Nested Essentials Dies, and the largest "banner" from the Stylish Shapes Dies.
  • Cut the "banner" in half, and adhere to rectangle, or I actually added it to the card and then centered the label.
  • Add the colored "pumpkins" to the label with Dimensionals.  And, you're done! (I didn't think it needed and bling, the sheen of the cardstock and detail of the die were enough!
