Relaxing Waterside Bridge Card

This Suite is absolutely gorgeous, and so ....relaxing! I found this idea by Frankly Stamping, that uses a "Bridge Fold", which I haven't done in quite a while, so I knew I needed to give it a try! There are tons of ideas out there, many which combine it with the April Paper Pumpkin (which I didn't get). That's where the little "sign" plaque comes in.  That was an "add on" you could purchase and that I was gifted with!  Yaayy!! And, if you save all things Stampin' Up!, the little stones are the retired "Pebbles"!!  Perfect for this Suite!

Measurements:

  • Basic White: 4 1/4" x 8", 1 1/4" x 5 1/2", scraps
  • Misty Moonlight: 1 1/8" x 5 3/8", 2 3/4" x 4"
  • Basic Beige: 2 7/8" x 3 3/8" (chair), scraps
  • Pecan Pie: 2 1/2" x 3 1/4"
  • Pool Party: scrap
  • Waterside Retreat DSP (N): 4 pcs @ 1" x 4" (blue stripe), 2" square (wood grain)
To Make This Card:

  • Score the 4 1/4" x 8" piece at 1 1/4" - 2 1/2". Turn and repeat at the other end.
  • Crease well with a bone folder creating an "accordion" fold.
  • Next, emboss the larger Misty Moonlight piece with the Stone & Vine EF. Adhere to center section of card base.
  • Now, die cut (or create) the sign "placard" in Pecan Pie.  Also, die cut the center of the "placard" from the Wood Grain DSP. Stamp sentiment in Misty Moonlight ink, and then adhere to the center of the "placard".
  • For the greeting, stamp sentiment in Misty Moonlight ink onto scrap of Basic Beige. Punch out with the 3 Banner Punch, snip off the ends, and then snip off the corners.  Add a "rustic" look by burnishing a little Pecan Pie ink onto the "sign". Then add to the "placard".
  • Next, stamp 1 "small sprig" in Pecan Pie and die cut with coordinating die.
  • Die cut several  "cattails" (both directions) from Basic Beige. Color the tops with the darkest (100 i.e. Deep Combo) Blend.  I also added some color to the bottom with a Peaceful Pine Blend (we don't have Garden Green!)
  • Add one of each to the base of the "placard".  Now that is done!
  • Now, add the 4 stripe pieces to the front and insides of the card base, as shown above.
  • To create the "bridge", first emboss the Misty Moonlight strip with the Soft Waves EF. Add to the White strip.
  • Next, I placed Tear & Tape onto the wrong side of the outside edges of the "bridge. You'll lay it across about 3/8" from the bottom, and put a pencil "tick" where it lies on the front 2 flaps.
  • Then, place Tear & Tape here as well.
  • Remove the backing on the 2 pieces on the left side, and adhere "bridge".
  • For the other side, lay completed side flat on your work surface, and accordion fold the other side this should make your card the correct size to fit into an envelope.
  • Now, remove the backing of the Tear & Tape and attach the other side of the "bridge" to this front.  Again, it should be 3/8" from the bottom.
  • Voila, your base is done!  Now, to decorate!
  • Stamp the "chair" in Pecan Pie ink onto Basic Beige and cut out with corresponding die.  Create a "rustic" look by burnishing some Pecan Pie ink onto the chair with a Blending Brush.
  • Next, stamp a large and small "sprig" in Pecan Pie on White. Stamp 2 "small sprigs" in Garden Green and "seagull" in Early Espresso ink. Burnish a little color to tone down the White, if desired.
  • Also, stamp "cup" onto Pool Party in Early Espresso ink.
  • Attach "chair" to bridge first. Then, add "cup".
  • Pop up the "seagull" with a Dimensional, and then arrage rest of "cattails" and "sea grass" as desired.  I finished with some retired Pebbles.
