Pretty Florals Side Tower Pop Up Card

I saw this sample using the Pretty Florals Bundle designed by Gala Gilson, and fell in Love!  I'm finding I am really being drawn to the new InColor, Secret Sea! I also love the pop of color with Petunia Pop! And, I discovered that we HAVE done this fold, but just with a landscape orientation!  I love how it turned out!

Measurements:

  • Secret Sea: 1/2 sheet (base), 3 3/4" x 4 1/2" (front)
  • Florals in Bloom DSP: 3" x 5" - floral (base), 3/4" x 5" Secret Seat dashes (tower)
  • Basic White: 3 1/8" x 5 1/8" (base front), 4" x 5 1/4" (base back), 3/4" x 5 1/8" (tower), 2 3/4" x 3 1/2" (front), scraps
To Make This Card:
  • Score Secret Sea Base at 1" - 2" - 3" - 4". Crease well, making "mountain" folds.
  • Next, layer "base" DSP and White corresponding layer together.  Adhere to "base".
  • Place Tear n Tape on the last, 1" section of the "tower".  Line cut edge with 4" score line, flatten the "tower" and adhere to the back of the card.
  • Now, layer the "tower" pieces together and add to Pop Up Tower, as shown. Set aside.
  • Now, to work on the "front" piece.
  • Score this piece along the 4 1/2" side at 3" & 4". Make "mountain" folds.
  • Place Tear n Tape on the 1/2" area.  Fold both scored areas back, line up the 2nd score line to cut edge of back base and adhere.
  • Leave this folded in place. Fold the "tower" section of the card forward (this is how it folds to go into an envelope). Place Tear n Tape on the wrong side of the "front" and adhere to the tower. Set this all aside.
  • Now, to create the focal point of the front!
  • Run the White piece through the So Swirly Embossing Folder.  Adhere to the front of card.
  • Next, stamp the detailed "Hollyhocks". in Petunia Pop, 3x on a scrap of White. Stamp off the "solid" image and stamp over details.  Or, if you prefer a little more depth, add "graduated" color to the stamp with a Sponge Dauber or Blending Brush, and then stamp onto the detail image.  Repeat 3x.  This really does look cool!
  • Die cut with corresponding die.
  • Next, stamp 3 "stems" in Granny Apple Green. Also, die cut with corresponding die.
  • Assemble flowers together.
  • Arrange onto front as shown, with the 3rd, center flower being Popped Up!
  • Next, stamp sentiment from The Right Words, in Secret Sea ink onto scrap of white.  Die cut with label from the Something Fancy Dies. Attach to card front with Dimensionals.
  • Finish front with scattered Petunia Pop Flat Pearls.
  • To complete the back of the base, stamp flower/stem directly to the lower left corner of the back piece. Then, adhere to the card back!

Tractor & Co. Cut & Flip Card

This little tractor set is particularly perfect for those of us in the Midwest!  I like it because it has a variety of seasons I can use it for!  And, you can either ink it up, or cut it out! This sample I die cut, again thinking maybe for my Senior Center class....nope, too many little pieces for them, but I got along just fine, and it is just so cute!  This sample uses Garden Green and Darling Ducking. (You know I live in John Deere country!)  It's a classic cut and flip card, that is just perfect for the little tractor, just as it is!  Great for guys of all ages!

Measurements:

  • Garden Green: 1/2 sheet cut LENGTHWISE, scraps
  • Painterly Pears DSP (OE): 2 1/2" x 4" (Darling Duckling check)
  • Regals DSP paper pack: 2 1/2" x 4" (Garden Green print)
  • Darling Duckling (N): 4" x 5 1/4", scraps
  • Basic White: 2 3/4" x 4 1/4" (inside)
  • Basic Black: scraps
To Make This Card:
  • Fold Garden Green base in half.  Cut the front in half @ 2 3/4".  Keep this piece for the layer!
  • Adhere Darling Duckling DSP to this piece.  Set aside.
  • Also adhere Garden Green DSP to front flap.
  • For the tractor, die cut the "main" truck and 2 "fenders" in Garden Green. Die cut the "steering wheel" and 2 "wheels" in Darling Duckling, and die cut "seat" and 2 "tires" from Basic Black.  Assemble together on Silicone Sheet with Multipurpose Glue.  Then adhere, crosswise, to cut piece.
  • Attach this piece to front flap with Dimensionals.
  • For the inside, attach Darling Duckling layer to inside, then adhere White piece behind top layer, so it is not visible when you close the card.
  • Finish with scattered Low Profile Sparkle Dots.
  • Adhere DSP to folded Cloud Cover card base.
  • Next, take White layer, and stamp "grass" from Prairie Grass stamp set 2x each inking, onto bottom of this piece. I used Garden Green ink.
  • Create the background on this piece, by burnishing Crumb Cake near the bottom and Cloud Cover on top with Blending Brushes. Adhere to the Pecan Pie layer.  Set aside.
  • Now for the fish.  On a scrap of White stamp 2 "curved" fish and 2 "straight" fish in Memento Black ink.  Color with Blends in colors listed below.  (I call this "messy" coloring as you don't want any straight edges just a lot of color.  It kind of looks like c

Peaceful Pier Fish

I just love the fish from the Peaceful Pier stamp set. The rest of the set is really great, too, but I LOVE the fish!! I found this card created by Connie Babbert, and knew I had to give it a try!  Only issue for a class is, the fish do not have a die, so you have to fussy cut them out.  Bummer! The base is the new Cloud Cover and the DSP is the new Need for Tweed DSP in the Online Store!  Add a little color with a Blending Brush and Blends, and you're done!  Love it!

Measurements:

  • Cloud Cover: 1/2 sheet
  • Need for Tweed DSP (OE): 4" x 5 1/4"
  • Pecan Pie: 3 1/4" x 4 1/2"
  • Basic White: 3" x 4 1/4", 1/2" x 3" (sentiment), scraps (fish)
To Make This Card:
It kind of looks like camoflage!) These colors really do work!)
  • Note: I am hoping to do this one at the Senior Center, only *I* am NOT going to cut out 30 fish!! So, if you don't like to fussy cut (I don't mind 2-3) you CAN just stamp them directly to the background, since the colors of the Blends cover up most - except for the darkest green "grass".
  • Stamp the sentiment in Garden Green ink onto strip of White. Angle cut this right end. (I thought this was a nice touch).I adhered this onto the card front, flush, before adding the fish. Hers hung off the layers, and I kind of liked that look, so mine does, too!
  • Add a little Wink of Stella to the fish, and then adhere to card with Dimensionals.
  • Now, you can add the Pecan Pie layer to the front of card.  I added mine with squares of Foam Adhesive Sheet.
  • Finish with Holographic Resin Dots for the fish "bubbles"
