Peaceful Pier Fish

I just love the fish from the Peaceful Pier stamp set. The rest of the set is really great, too, but I LOVE the fish!! I found this card created by Connie Babbert, and knew I had to give it a try!  Only issue for a class is, the fish do not have a die, so you have to fussy cut them out.  Bummer! The base is the new Cloud Cover and the DSP is the new Need for Tweed DSP in the Online Store!  Add a little color with a Blending Brush and Blends, and you're done!  Love it!

Measurements:

  • Cloud Cover: 1/2 sheet
  • Need for Tweed DSP (OE): 4" x 5 1/4"
  • Pecan Pie: 3 1/4" x 4 1/2"
  • Basic White: 3" x 4 1/4", 1/2" x 3" (sentiment), scraps (fish)
To Make This Card:
  • Adhere DSP to folded Cloud Cover card base.
  • Next, take White layer, and stamp "grass" from Prairie Grass stamp set 2x each inking, onto bottom of this piece. I used Garden Green ink.
  • Create the background on this piece, by burnishing Crumb Cake near the bottom and Cloud Cover on top with Blending Brushes. Adhere to the Pecan Pie layer.  Set aside.
  • Now for the fish.  On a scrap of White stamp 2 "curved" fish and 2 "straight" fish in Memento Black ink.  Color with Blends in colors listed below.  (I call this "messy" coloring as you don't want any straight edges just a lot of color.  It kind of looks like camoflage!) These colors really do work!)
  • Note: I am hoping to do this one at the Senior Center, only *I* am NOT going to cut out 30 fish!! So, if you don't like to fussy cut (I don't mind 2-3) you CAN just stamp them directly to the background, since the colors of the Blends cover up most - except for the darkest green "grass".
  • Stamp the sentiment in Garden Green ink onto strip of White. Angle cut this right end. (I thought this was a nice touch).I adhered this onto the card front, flush, before adding the fish. Hers hung off the layers, and I kind of liked that look, so mine does, too!
  • Add a little Wink of Stella to the fish, and then adhere to card with Dimensionals.
  • Now, you can add the Pecan Pie layer to the front of card.  I added mine with squares of Foam Adhesive Sheet.
  • Finish with Holographic Resin Dots for the fish "bubbles"

Peaceful Pier Back Fold Card

This month in Stamp Club, we are exploring the Peaceful Pier stamp set in the Annual Catalog. We will be making one card, with the pier, that I previously made, but I also wanted to do something using the little boy fishing, and the awesome fish! So, here is a "Becky Original" using 2 different DSP packs, a great, easy Fun Fold, and the cute little boy!  The coloring was done with our Watercolor Pencils, for a softer look!

Measurements:

  • Gray Granite: 1/2 sheet, 3 1/4" square (circle), 1 3/8" x 3 1/4"
  • Beautiful Gallery DSP (N): 3" x 5 1/4" (Gray Ombre)
  • Timeless Plaid DSP: 7/8" x 5 1/4" (Gray Granite Plaid)
  • Basic Beige: 3" x 5 1/4" (inside) 3" square (circle)
To Make This Card:

  • Fold Gray Granite card base in half.  Trim 1" from front of card.  Also score back of card at 1".  Fold back, and then return into place.
  • Attach Gray Ombre DSP to front flap, and Gray Plaid to the creased, right flap.
  • Cut largest Stitched Circle from the Gray Granite square. Set aside
  • Stamp "little boy" onto square of Basic Beige.  Die cut with "Radiating Circle" from the Spotlight on Nature Dies.
  • Add "grass" to the bottom of the stamped circle.
  • Burnish "sky" in Balmy Blue, and "grass" in Granny Apple Green ink with Blending Brushes.
  • Color image with Watercolor Pencils.  "Watercolor" with Aqua Painter, if desired.
  • Adhere circle to Gray Granite layer.
  • Next, place circle onto card front where desired.  Overlapping on to right side.  Attach to 1" flap with Tear n Tape.
  • Die cut "banner" from Stylish Shapes dies.  Stamp sentiment onto "banner" in black ink.
  • Place onto card to determine where to cut the top of the "banner".  Trim.  Wrap Neutral Bakers Twine around the top, and attach to card with Dimensionals.
  • Next, take the inside Basic Beige piece and stamp "fish" in the upper corner. Color with Watercolor Pencils, and adhere to inside of card.
  • Finish with scattered Neutral Matte Dots.

Peaceful Pier Scene

I saw this stamp set in the new Annual Catalog and knew I had to have it!  It truly is so peaceful!  No dies, no DSP, just an awesome stamp set!  This idea was created by LeeAnn Greff. It's just stamped in Memento Black ink, and lightly colored with ink and a Blending Brush.  I love the effect.  I also love the Spotlight effect of the raised center, die cut with a die from the Textured Notes Dies.  Accents are the cute brass birds!

Measurements:

  • Balmy Blue 1/2 sheet, scrap
  • Basic White: 3 1/2" x 4 3/4" (front), 4" x 5 1/4" (inside)
  • Basic Black: 3 5/8" x 4 7/8"
To Make This Card:
  • I started by stamping the cluster of trees on the White, front layer with Memento Black ink. I stamped it so that the right side of the trees just missed the right cut edge, the largest tree just missed the top, so it was approximately 1" from the bottom of the piece.
  • Then, I stamped the "pier", so that the end just missed the left cut edge, grass was parallel to the bottom, and the tree "bank" just touches the "pier".  I DID use my Stamparatus for that!
  • I finished the scene by stamping some of the tall grasses, in the lower left corner, and to continue the "path" off the pier.
  • Next, to add color, I blended Lost Lagoon ink in the lower left corner for the "water", Granny Apple Green in the lower right, for the "grass", Daffodil Delight for the "horizon", and Balmy Blue for the "sky". I also added Wink of Stella to the "water".
  • Then, take Blends and use Granny Apple Green for the large tree and bushes, the "rocks" and "pier" in Gray Granite, and the Tree Trunk in Pecan Pie.
  • Now, take a die from the Textured Notes Die, and cut out the "scene" leaving a balanced frame. (optional)
  • Adhere the "frame" to the Black layer (this is really tricky to do). Good Luck!
  • Then add the die cut to the center with squares of the Foam Adhesive Sheet.
  • Finish with a small, narrow sentiment in Balmy Blue.  I used the sentiment from the stamp set, and chose a small, narrow tag from the More Messages.  There were several to choose from!
  • I finished with a couple of the smaller brass birds from the Dragonflies embellishments in the Online Store.
