I have, yet, to share a "Bandstand" card in a class, but I really love them! This floating design comes to you compliments of Sue Stampfield. I had to figure it out, and think it turned out pretty well!! I love the floating possibilities created with the Window Sheet! Oh, and it also folds flat to fit into an envelope, but will pop up to stand on a desk, table, or mantle!
Measurements:
- Basic White: 4 1/8" x 5 1/2" (base), 2 1/2" x 5 3/4" (bands - will cut in half after scoring!), 3/8" x 5 1/8" (back), scrap
- Pretty in Pink: 2 1/2" x 5 1/4" (back)
- Wildflower Birthday (OE): 3 3/4" x 5" (will cut for inside pieces) (Peach Floral); 4 pcs @ 1" square, 2 pcs @ 1" x 1 1/2", 2 pcs @ 5/8" x 5 1/4" (Pink Gingham - wrong side of Peach Floral)
- Window Sheet: 1 5/8" x 4"
To Make This Card:
- Score White "base" 3/4" from each end, along 4 1/8" side. Crease well, making "valley" folds".
- If your background DSP for the base is a continual image, (or even if it's not), cut 5/8" off either side of the larger DSP piece. You should have a 5/8" piece, a 2 1/2" piece, and then another 5/8" piece. Lay out, if necessary for a continual image.
- Adhere to the base, keeping the trimmed pieces in order, if necessary. (Make sure they fit well, before adhering! Set aside.
- Now, take the piece for the "bands". Score each @ 3/4" - 2" from each end.
- Cut this piece in half @ 1 1/4". (Cool, huh! Just score once!) Crease all in "mountain" folds.
- Next, lay out the small DSP pieces that will go on the bands. The 2 slightly larger pieces go on the center sections. Then the 2 smaller sections on each side. The 2 end sections will be bare. Adhere to bands.
- Now, you'll adhere the bands to the "base".
- Flip all the pieces over, so you can work from the wrong side. The Tear n Tape goes on the 4 wrong sides of the "band" flaps.
- The end flaps will attach to the back side flaps of the base, essentially wrapping them to the back, even with the top and bottom edges. I used Tear n Tape so that they held better, and I didn't have to wait for them to dry!
- Now the Band Stand Base is done!
- For the "floating" focal point. Adhere the window sheet to the wider panels of the "bands", on the wrong side, using Tear n Tape.
- Now, you can decorate the "floating" panel any way you would like using the included die cuts.
- I finished the back with layers of cardstock, as shown.
- On the front, I added a sentiment in Blueberry Bushel ink, a Gold Stripe bow, and scattered Party Dots.
