Double Lattice Card

I love the "lattice" die from the last chance Linked Together Dies, and am always looking for ways to creatively use it! I found this sample by Robin Broome that uses 2 "lattices", offset for a neat effect!  I also LOVE the colors! It does use a few "retired" items, but it also uses some current ones - i.e. the Textured Notes Dies. While I DO love how it turned out, the center is a little "heavy", so I set out to rectify that!  Stay tuned for another sample, using the Wildflower Birthday DSP.

Measurements:

  • Pretty Peacock: 1/2 sheet cut LENGTHWISE, 3" x 4 1/2" (inside frame), 2 pcs @ 1 1/8" x 4 1/4" (stabilize the inside, top and bottom), scraps ("sprigs")
  • Lost Lagoon: 4" x 5 1/4" (inside), 3" x 4 1/2" (outside frame), scrap (sentiment)
  • Very Vanilla: scraps (flowers)
  • Flight & Airy DSP (SAB) (retired): 2 pcs @ 1 1/8" x 4 1/4"
To Make This Card:
  • Fold Pretty Peacock in half. Die cut rectangle opening in the front of the card with the "lattice" die.  Keep this cut out piece.
  • Die cut another "lattice" from Lost Lagoon.
  • Layer the 2 "lattice" pieces together using Multipurpose Glue. (I should have offset mine just a little bit more.
  • Next, die cut the 2 3/4" x 4 1/4" Textured Notes Die from both Lost Lagoon and Pretty Peacock.
  • Take the card base and insert a Silicone Mat inside to protect the cardstock.
  • Insert the "lattices" from behind. There is just a little "lip to catch the opening. Then, take the Lost Lagoon "frame" and glue outside edges over the "lattices" and to the card front.
  • Flip the card over and repeat on the back side with the Pretty Peacock layer.
  • To help with stability, Robin had us add 2 pieces of Pretty Peacock above and below the opening from the inside.
  • Now, you can add 2 pcs of DSP to the front as well.  You may need to trim these to fit YOUR card.
  • The card base is finished!
  • Cut a small label from the Textured Notes Dies.  Stamp sentiment of your choice in Pretty Peacock ink. Add card front with Dimensionals.
  • Die cut 8 "flowers" from Very Vanilla cardstock using one of the flowers from the Linked Together Dies.  Layer 2 flowers together creating 4 flowers.
  • Die cut 1 large and 2 small "sprigs" from scraps of Pretty Peacock.
  • Add large "sprig" first to front "lattice". Tucking the bottom into the "frame", and gluing to the "lattice" in crucial junctions.
  • Add one small "sprig" in the same manner.
  • Add 3 "flowers" to front, as shown.
  • Add "sprig" and flower to the inside, if desired.
  • Finish with Petal Pink Gems from the retired Solid Faceted Gems
