I have always loved the idea of sanding the white-core papers - like our new Two-Tone ones! So, running the paper through an embossing folder, and then sanding, is particularly neat! I saw this idea from Patty Bennett using the new Sunrise Sailing Bundle, and thought it was a perfect use of this technique with the white-core papers. This idea uses Pool Party, paired with the Hybrid Embossing Folder, and a little Full of Life DSP. I just love how it turned out!
Measurements:
- Basic White: 1/2 sheet cut LENGTHWISE, 3" x 3 1/2" (cut sailboat)
- Pool Party Two-Tone paper (N): 4" square
- Full of Life: 1" x 4" strip
To Make this Card
- Fold White card base in half. Score at 4 1/4", crease, creating a 1 1/4" "binding".
- Adhere 1" strip to "binding".
- Take 1 piece of Red and White Bakers Twine and 1 piece of Linen Thread, double them, and wrap them around the "binding" and tie in a knot. Place a glue dot under the knot to keep in place.
- NOW, you can add Tear n Tape to the "binding" and adhere to the card.
- Next, take the Pool Party Two-Tone piece and emboss with the Sailboat Embossing Folder. Sand with a sanding block.
- Take a small blending brush and burnish a little Secret Sea ink to the "water". Sand, again, revealing the White core after the inking. I also added Wink of Stella to the "water".
- Adhere this piece to the front of the card.
- Next, take the sailboat die, and place it into the coordinating spot on the embossing folder, "locking" it into place.
- Place the White piece over the die, close the top of the folder, and run through the Stampin' Cut and Emboss Machine. Voila, you've embossed AND cut the "sailboat".
- Now, stamp the detail of the "sail" in Poppy Parade ink and the "boat" in Secret Sea (or Lost Lagoon) ink.
- Draw in the "mast" using a ruler and Dk Pecan Pie Blend.
- Adhere the "sailboat" over the image on the base with Dimensionals.
- Finish with new, Holographic Resin Dots.
