3D Coneflower Celebrations

The Coneflower Celebrations Bundle is just stunning! And, in searching how to use it, I found these awesome suggestion by Patty Bennett!! First of all, for the layered flower, she used our new Two-Tone Cardstock!  What a wonderful use of this versatile paper!  This gives you so many colors to layer, without a lot of bulk!  Then, she paired that with our new Irresistible Designs DSP - which is resist paper, to which she added coordinating color with a Blending Brush (which makes it so gorgeously easy!) And, THEN, she used ink and Blending Brushes to add color detail and depth to the petals!  Absolutely Gorgeous!  We will be doing this in club this month., and probably something similar in class, it's that amazing!

Measurements:

  • Berry Burst: 1/2 sheet cut LENGTHWISE
  • Basic White: 4" x 5 1/4", scrap
  • Irresistible Designs DSP (N): 4" x 5 1/4", 1/2" x 4" (inside)
  • Berry Burst 2-Tone Cardstock: 4" strip
  • Petunia Pop 2-Tone Cardstock: 4" strip
  • Granny Apple Green 2-Tone Cardstock: 4" strip
  • Pecan Pie 2-Tone Cardstock: scrap
To Make this Card:
  • Cut the "base" of the flower from Berry Burst 2-Tone Cardstock. I also cut 2 top layers to experiment with.  You'll want to flip them over before you cut, so you can play with both sides.
  • I was pretty sure I wanted a lighter shade on top, so I cut 2 top layers from Petunia Pop 2-Tone Cardstock, again flipping the cardstock over so I had both shades to play with.
  • And, lastly, I took the Granny Apple Green 2-Tone Cardstock and folded it in half (as per Patty's suggestion), and cut the stem and 2 leaves.  You are able to cut 3 sets, but in essence enough for 6 cards!! This way you have both shades of Granny Apple Green to experiment with. (And, if you are only making one, cut a smaller piece to fold.)
  • As an additional option, you can cut a flower center from Pecan Pie. Again, you might want to flip it for color options.
  • So, now to assemble.
  • Take the "base" that you think you want to use, and fold it in half.  You will stamp this with the coordinating stamp. (Please NOTE: the stamp only fits one way.  Line it up to the "skinny petal" on the left!) Try different ink colors.  I did tone on tone, i.e. Berry Burst, for the stamping. Patty, then stamps, again with remaining ink left on the stamp, inside...nice touch!
  • Add some Berry Burst ink to the lower edge of the petals with a Blending Brush.
  • Decide on a top layer.and add some additional color to the top, near the center, being careful of the fragile petals.
  • Before assembling, I shaped the petals of the 2 top layers, with a bone folder.
  • Next, adhere the 2 layers at the center.
  • Then, take the Pecan Pie (or, whatever color you choose) center.  Patty added some more intense color to the bottom with a 006 Neutral Blend, and then deepened/shaded with a Blending Brush and Pecan Pie (or Early Espresso) ink.  Glue to the flower. Set aside.
  • Next, take the resist design of your choice, and burnish in some color.  I uses Petunia Pop ink. start at the bottom right corner (or left, I guess), and blend at an angle with a Blending Brush.
  • Now, attach to a card base of your choice.  You will usually have a lot of possibilities!!  Mine is Berry Burst.
  • Lastly, we'll add the "stem & leaves". Decide which side you would like to use, and then stamp with Granny Apple Green ink. Add the stem, first, and then the leaves. To add the leaves, place a Dimensional on the tips (for dimension) and adhere the bottoms flush.
  • Now, add the flower.
  • The sentiment is from the More Messages Bundle.
  • Finish the inside with White layer and strip of Irresistible Designs burnished with a corresponding color.
  • Finish the outside with 2024-2026 Flat Pearls in Petunia Pop, and a little Wink of Stelaa on the flower center and top petals.

Corner Fold Mixed Floral Card

I'm always on the lookout for creative, fun folds and I spotted this one.  I did something like this A LONG time ago, but then "everything old is new, again"! This one comes thanks to Kathy Alt. It's really fun and easy, just takes almost a full sheet of DSP, which is where our free SAB DSP's come in! Anyway, the colors and DSP are just cheery and it really is quite easy to make!

Measurements:

  • Blueberry Bushel: 1/4 sheet, 3 3/8" x 4 5/8" (outside layer), 3 5/8" x 4 7/8" (inside layer) 2 1/2" square (corner)
  • Basic White: 3 3/8" x 4 5/8" (inside), 3 1/8" x 4 3/8" (outside), 2 3/4" x 4 3/4" (floral image)
  • Bloom Impressions DSP (ret): 6 3/4" x 8", 2 1/4" square
To Make This Card:

  • To score the DSP piece, place the side that you want to shop on top, face down.
  • On the 6 3/4" side score @ 2 3/4" (See Kathy's diagram, above). Rotate to the left and score @ 2 3/4". Fold on the score lines as shown.
  • To make the "square", fold in the opposite direction, creating a diagonal through the spot where the score ines cross.  As you do this, the score lines should line up.  And this "origami" piece is done.  (Kind of like a "squash" card.)
  • For the inside of the card, adhere the 2 "inside" pieces together.  Stamp sentiment on the White layer in Blueberry Bushel ink.
  • Layer the 2 square pieces together, and place on the inside square for "support" as shown.
  • Next, stamp and color the "flower" with Blends.  Die cut with corresponding die.. I also added a little Wink of Stella to all the flowers!
  • Layer the outside 2 layers together, and then add the "flower" to the front with Dimensionals.
  • Stamp sentiment in Blueberry Bushel in.
  • Finish with new, scattered 2024 Flat Pearls, and a bow of Shy Shamrock ribbon.
  • Now, you can add the front layers to the card base! ONLY the upper left corner of this piece is adhered to the "square" of the DSP.  Center these layers on the front, and adhere to the square only.
  • It should look like the 2nd picture when opened!

Thankful Garden Pop Up Panel Card

We made one of these cards in my 2nd Wildflower Birthday Card class, but I wanted to try another sample as well!  This one is another design by Terri Gaines. It uses our new Timid Tiger cardstock, with the retired Countryside Corners Dies, and the Thankful Garden bundle from the Online Store.  The DSP is from last season's SAB, Bloom Impressions.

Measurements:

  • Timid Tiger (N): 1/2 sheet, 4" x 5 1/2" (Pop Up mechanism), 2 pcs @ 3 1/4" x 4 3/4" (Pop Up panel),
  • Basic White: 2 pcs @ 2 3/4" x 4 3/8" (Pop Up panel layer, outside embossed layer), 2 1/4" x 5 3/8" (front), 3 1/8" x 4 3/8" (stamped image), scraps
  • Bloom Impressions DSP (ret): 2 pcs @ 3" x 5 1/4" (inside), 2 1/8" x 5 1/4" (front)
To Make This Card:

  • Score Pop Up mechanism at 1" - 2" - 3".  Make "mountain" folds, forming a tube/tower.
  • Attach Tear n Tape, lengthwise,  to both ends of the "mechanism".
  • Fold "mechanism" in half, with adhesive strips out. Remove tape backing and  place into folded Timid Tiger card base with cut edges of "mechanism" flush with the card crease.
  • Check card by opening it up to see "tower/pop up" in the center.
  • Next, adhere DSP to inside/back and inside/front of card.
  • Die cut shape in Timid Tiger (I used Countryside Corner Dies) for Pop Up and for front layer, also cut next smallest size in White.
  • Stamp sentiment in Basic Gray onto White layer, then mount onto one of the Timid Tiger pieces. Then, attach base to "mechanism".
  • Stamp full flower in Memento Black ink onto piece of white.  Stamp smaller flower and 2 small leaf clusters onto scraps of White.  Color all with Blends (instead of using the masks)
  • The smaller flower and 2 leaf clusters get attached to inside Pop Up, as shown
  • Now, for the front.  Adhere the DSP to White strip and then to front of card, as shown.
  • Next, run the White layer through an Embossing Folder.  I used the retired Distressed Tile. Mount onto other Timid Tiger layer.
  • Add colored flower to this piece with Dimensionals. And then add all to card front with Dimensionals.
  • Finish with Wink of Stella on the flowers and Timid Tiger Flat Pearls for flower centers.
