Notes & Totes at the Beach

This month we are exploring the darling Notes & Totes bundle in the new Annual Catalog.in Stamp Club. I found this sample by Rachel Tessman that not only utilizes 2-tone Cardstock, but also accents from the Extraordinary Flora Washi Tape! I love using the Woven Texture DSP for the little tote!  And, there are so many components in the dies to chose from!! I hope they like making this one!  It's a little detailed, but worth it!

Measurements:

  • Basic White: 1/2 sheet, scrap
  • Balmy Blue: 2" x 4"
  • Pecan Pie (or Crumb Cake) 2-Tone Cardstock: 4" x 6"
  • Basic Beige: scraps
  • Basic Black: scrap
  • Adhesive Sheet: scrap
  • Silver & Gold Brushed Foil Cardstock (OE): 7/8" x 2 7/8" (silver); 3/4" x 1 5/8" (gold)
  • Woven Textures DSP(OE): 3 1/4" x 4 1/4", scrap
  • Extraordinary Flora Washi Tape (AC)
To Make this Card:
  • Run the Balmy Blue piece through Soft Waves 3D Embossing Folder. Adhere to top part of folded White card.
  • Next, tear about 2" from one end of 2-Tone cardstock, exposing White core. Set this piece aside.
  • Lay larger, 2-Tone piece onto White card base, with approximately 2" - 2 1/4" of Balmy Blue layer showing above. Place a pencil mark where you will need to trim the bottom edge, so you have 1/8" White showing. Trim.
  • Adhere to card base.
  • Randomly stamp "sand" in Pecan Pie (or Crumb Cake) ink onto 2-Tone layer.
  • Flip over the remaining piece of 2-Tone Cardstock. Ink up just the word "relax" in Memento Black ink and stamp onto piece.  Add to card front, as shown.
  • Die cut "tote" and "tote pocket" from piece of Woven Textures DSP.
  • Die cut "bottom (with decorative strips)", "handle", and "pocket" from Basic Beige.
  • Fold back the 2 ends and bottom of the "tote". Remove the "gusset" on one end (you only need this for the actually 3D tote). You can glue these back out of the way, if desired, or leave them lose for more dimension.
  • Now, attach decorative Basic Beige "bands" to the bag. (Rachel added them to the "outside" of the crease.) And, then the "bottom" of the bag, and the "handle".
  • Take the Basic Beige "pocket", and just cut off the flap.  Add to "woven" pocket, then add to bag with  strips of Dimensionals.
  • Add 1/8" Tear n Tape to the outside edges and bottom of "tote.  Attach to card, where desired.
  • Next, die cut "lotion bottle" from White and "water bottle" from Brushed Silver (the "hanger" comes off separately, so you will need to reattach it with "green glue".
  • Add small Washi Tape flower to "water bottle" and tuck in and attach to "tote".  Add "water bottle behind a bit.
  • To make the sunglasses, just die cut the "lenses" in black.  Place adhesive sheet behind gold scrap, and die cut the "frame".  Peel off the backing and add to "lenses".  Set aside.
  • For the decorative "scarf", Rachel overlapped to Washi Tape "flowers" to create a sort of "V", with which you can then fit and cut the "scarf".  It's ok, but I think a stamped or print DSP scarf would work well, too!
  • Finish the front with a cluster of Washi Tape elements in the "sand", with the "sunglasses" on top.  I also added some new, Flower Accents.
  • Inside, I inked up the rest of the sentiment and stamped it . I added a few Washi Tape elements and Flower Accents inside as well!
