Cute Peekaboo Forest

I'd been looking for a card using the Peekaboo Forest bundle for my Senior Center gals.  I thought this one would be a good option.  They were definitely up to the task, and loved it! They don't mind coloring, and each critter was a different color combination, which worked out well.  The background is a piece of DSP from the Thoughtful Journey paper pack. It was a little bit of prep, but worth it.

Measurements:

  • Crumb Cake: 1/2 sheet
  • Basic White: 4" x 5 1/4", scraps for critters
  • Pecan Pie: 3 3/4" x 5"
  • Early Espresso: 4" x 5 1/4"
  • Mossy Meadow: 1 5/8" x 4"
  • Basic Black: 1 1/2" x 1 3/4"
  • Thoughtful Journey DSP: 3 3/4" x 5"
To Make this Card:
  • Adhere Early Espresso and DSP to folded Crumb Cake card base.
  • Stamp the "tree" onto the Pecan Pie piece in Early Espresso, you will also need to line up and stamp the "trunk extension" (thankfully it's a photopolymer stamp).  You should also have room on your piece to stamp the "branch".
  • Die cut all with the corresponding die.  Note: you will need to hand cut the extension!
  • Next, stamp the 3 "critters" from the Peekaboo Forest in the Online Store in Memento Black ink onto scrap of White.  Color in with Blends as shown. (The "bear" is Crumb Cake, the "racoon" is Gray Granite, and the "porcupine" is Pecan Pie).  Die cut with cooresponding dies. I like to accent the eyes with a Black Gel pen! Set aside.
  • Now, attach the Black piece behind the "trunk" opening. You only want to adhere to 3 sides, leaving the bottom open, so you can tuck in the bear.
  • Tuck the bear into the opening. The little paws will overlap, as there are little slits in them.  Fun!
  • Next, tuck the little Hedgehog and Racoon in behind the "trunk' as shown. Then, adhere the entire trunk to the card front, leaving the left side of the truck adhesive free, so you can tuck in the "branch" after the "leaves" are in place.
  • Next, stamp the "leaves" in Mossy Meadow ink near the bottom of the cardstock piece.  Die cut.  Stamp sentiment from the Beautiful Butterflies (OE) in Mossy Meadow ink as well.  Adhere to card even with DSP cut edge and over "trunk".
  • Now, is the time to add the "branch"!  Tuck and adhere the "branch" where desired.
  • Finish inside with White layer. Then stamp a critter of your choice, and color with Blends. Then, stamp a sentiment in Memento Black.
  • Finish front with scattered Neutral Dots.
