Winter Window

I'm just starting to create a few Winter/Christmas cards! Afterall, it's "officially" Autumn, so Christmas is right around the corner! And, as stampers we get started on our Winter projects early!!  I love windows, and knew that I had to have the new Window Wishes bundle! It's NOT just for the holidays, and I could envision so many possibilities with it!  This one DOES have a Winter feel.  I've used a little White Glimmer paper for the "snow" and the tree from the Christmas Barn for the background trees! Check out this bundle!  You won't be disappointed!!

Measurements:

  • Evening Evergreen: 1/2 sheet, 3" x 4 1/2" (window frame)
  • Basic White: 2 pcs @ 4" x 5 1/4" (1-inside, 1-outside),  2 pcs @ 2 3/8" x 3 3/4" (1 - actual window, 1 - behind), scraps
  • White & Red Glimmer Paper: 1 5/8" x 2 3/8"
  • Sweet Sorbet: scraps
To Make This Card:
  • Run the largest White layer through the Timeworn Type 3D Embossing folder, then attach to folded Evening Evergreen card.
  • Die cut the "window frame" from Evening Evergreen.
  • Die cut the actual "window" from one White piece.  Note: the outside edge does not get cut out, so you will either calculate the size ahead of time (which I have done for you), or trim to what you need after it is cut out. This kind of surprised me!
  • Now, attach the "window" to the wrong side of the "window frame".
  • Die cut "slope" from White Glimmer Paper., and attach behind "window frame" as shown.
  • Next, stamp "garland" and "double trees" in Evening Evergreen, "roof" in Mint Macaron, and "house" in Sweet Sorbet onto scraps of White. Die cut with corresponding dies. Set aside, for now.
  • Place 2nd piece of White into place behind the "snow slope".  Mark slope and upper edge of "window" with a pencil. Remove from behind piece and stamp "forest".
  • You can use any tree, but I used the tree from the Christmas Barn. Randomly stamp trees in several "generations" of Evening Evergreen.
  • Adhere the "double trees" behind "snow slope" as shown, then add "forest" background.
  • Add "roof" to "house", then pop it up onto "snow".
  • Attach "window" to card front.
  • Add "garland" around "window".  Attach Sweet Sorbet die cut cardstock "bow".
  • Finish with Red Rhinestones and a White piece inside.
