Christmas Barn Traditional Side Step

This card was designed by demonstrator, Tami White. I hadn't done a "traditional" Side Step Card in ages, so thought I'd give it a try, again! I also thought this might be a possibility for Stamp Club this month! Let me tell you right now...no way!!  This a one and only!  It wasn't difficult, just lots and lots of pieces, and a realization I really love and appreciate the Faux Side Step version!

Measurements:

  • Crumb Cake: 1/2 sheet
  • Soft Suede: 2 3/4" x 4" (right), 1" x 2 5/8" (step)
  • Shimmery White: 2 1/2" x 3 3/4" (right), 2 1/2" x 3" (back step), 2 1/4" x 2 1/2" (center step), 1 1/2" x 2 3/4" (front step), pcs for die cut images
  • Balmy Blue: scraps
  • Vellum: scraps
  • Early Espresso: scraps
  • Adhesive Sheet: scrap
To Make This Card:

  • Start by cutting the "steps" into the Crumb Cake card using the directions above. Crease well as shown.
  • Next, attach Soft Suede pieces to the front of card as shown.  The front step piece should butt up against the right side piece.
  • Also, add the Shimmery White pieces to these areas as shown. You'll want to cut a "snow bank" into the front step piece.
  • Stamp the "barn", 3 "trees", and "sleigh" in Memento Black onto pieces of Shimmery White.  Color with Blends and Cut out with corresponding dies. Set aside.
  • Now, cut one "pond" from Balmy Blue. Attach vellum to Adhesive sheet.  Cut from "pond" and adhere to Blue "pond".  Attach to card as shown.
  • Cut "fence" from Early Espresso cardstock.  Attach to front snow bank.
  • Lay the "barn" and one "tree" onto right side, so that it fits as shown.  Attach the "tree" flat and Pop Up the "barn" with Dimensionals.
  • Cut "snow banks" in the last 2 Shimmery White pieces. (Either hand cut these, or find a die that has some nice curves to it.  I think she used the Gingerbread House Dies) Attach to corresponding steps as shown.
  • Next, add the bottom of the "sleigh" to the center step and the "trees" to the back step, and you're done!
