I wanted to use the new Apple Blossom dies (LOVE them) with one of my Club samples this month! However, if you notice, I forgot to use them! To remedy this, I am going to recommend using an embossing folder on the Vanilla layer, stamp the apples of your choice, color and die cut it, and place it on top of the embossed piece!! This card also utilizes the Twisted Ribbon Technique. This technique is so cool...and easy AND uses up those paper scraps!! My inspiration came from fellow demonstrator Lisa Curcio!
Measurements:
- Poppy Parade: 4 1/4" x 9"
- Soft Suede: 3 1/4" x 4", 1 7/8" x 4" (bottom),
- Very Vanilla: 2 pcs @ 3 1/4" x 4" (one goes inside), 1 5/8" x 3 3/4"
- Rings of Love DSP (ret): 4 pcs @ 1/2" x 2 1/2"
- Brights 6x6 DSP Pack: 4 pcs @ 1/2" x 2 1/2" (Poppy Parade)
To Make This Card:
- Score Poppy Parade base at 3 1/2". Crease well.
- Attach larger Soft Suede to front flap.
- Stamp apple of your choice onto larger Vanilla layer and color with Blends as shown. (Or, run this piece through an embossing folder, and stamp the apple on a separate piece of Vanilla cardstock color, cut and attach over Embossing Folder.)
- To do the Twisted Ribbon Technique, you need to begin by making a "template". You will use the actual "base" to do this. For this card, this is the smaller Vanilla piece. These "ribbon" pieces are 1/2" wide, so you will be making 1/2" pencil "ticks" on either side of the "base".
- I used 2 contrasting, but coordinating, colors of DSP. Begin at the upper left corner and place the first piece from the upper corner, to the first pencil "tick". The top edge of the strip will be on, or slightly below, the pencil mark. Note: I started with a tape adhesive, but I think the "green glue" works best for this! Continue until all pieces of this pattern, are on the "base".
- You now repeat for the other side, with the other pattern. These pieces will "match" on the OUTSIDE edges. They DO NOT form an "X"!! Again, you'll go from pencil "tick" to pencil "tick"!! Set this aside to dry.
- While it is drying, add the Vanilla piece to the inside, and embellish the front. I scattered our new Seasonal Sequins, with a Festive Silver Pearl in the center of the blossom.
- Your piece should be dry. Now cut around the edges so that it matches with the "base" and attach to card over Soft Suede layer.
