Cottage Rose Twisted Ribbon

I wanted to create a card for class using the Twisted Ribbon Technique! And, I just LOVE the new Cottage Rose Bundle, which will be used for our World Card Making Day Event, Oct 1st through Stkmpin' Up!  Purchase the Bundle, and you get a free package of Iridescent Pearls! For my creation, I used the gorgeous Texture Chic DSP, which has a touch of Gold to it, some Gold Foil, and a little Gold and Vanilla ribbon!!

Measurements:

  • Soft Succulent: 1/2 sheet
  • Texture Chic DSP (N) (AC): 2" x 5 1/4", 6 pcs @ 1/2" x 3"
  • 2021-2023 Incolor 6x6 Pack DSP: 6 pcs @ 1/2" x 3"
  • Very Vanilla: 1 3/4" x 5 1/4" (base), 3" square (flower)
  • Gold Foil: 1 7/8" x 5 3/8"
To Make This Card:
  • Trim 1 7/8" from Soft Succulent card front.  Discard this piece.
  • To do the Twisted Ribbon Technique, you need to begin by making a "template". You will use the actual "Vanilla base" to do this.  These "ribbon" pieces are 1/2" wide, so you will be making 1/2" pencil "ticks" on either side of the "base".
  • I used 2 contrasting, but coordinating, colors of DSP. Begin at the upper left corner and place the first piece from the upper corner, to the first pencil "tick". The top edge of the strip will be on, or slightly below, the pencil mark. Note: I started with a tape adhesive, but I think the "green glue" works best for this! Continue until all pieces of this pattern, are on the "base".
  • You now repeat for the other side, with the other pattern. These pieces will "match" on the OUTSIDE edges.  They DO NOT form an "X"!! Again, you'll go from pencil "tick" to pencil "tick"!!  You can go back and "fill in" top and bottom as needed. Set this aside to dry.
  • Next, Stamp the "rose" in Memento Black ink onto square of Very Vanilla cardstock. Color with Blends as shown and cut out with corresponding die.
  • Your Twisted Ribbon piece should be dry. Cut around the edges so that it matches with the Vanilla "base".
  • Attach this to the Gold Foil layer, so just a little is showing - about 1/16".  Attach to right side.
  • Close card and see if a little gold is showing. If it is not, and you would like it to, you might need to trim a bit of the card front.
  • Next, attach DSP to card front, trimming a bit, first, if necessary.
  • Now, place several Dimensionals on the center, back of die cut "flower".
  • Take the ribbon and make a loop, around your fingers, leaving a nice tail. Attach to back of "flower" on the Dimensionals.  Repeat with another loop and attach, where desired, on the opposite side. Note: with a larger loop, I prefer to use 2 pcs of ribbon, as it's much easier to control!
  • Now, attach flower, where desired, on front flap of card, checking to make sure that a Dimensional is not overlapping!
  • Finish with several Gold Pearls from the new Festive Gold Pearls.
