Joy of Noel Column Card

I'm always on the lookout for new folds, and this one caught my eye, as I was playing with the Joy of Christmas Suite! It's a quick, cute, and easy stand up card, that folds flat to fit into a regular envelope.

Measurements:

  • Real Red: 5 1/2" x 10 1/8", scraps (circles)
  • Basic White: 2 1/2" x 5 1/4", 2 1/2" square (NOEL), 3" x 4" (holly), 4" x 5 1/4" (back panel for sentiment)
  • Joyful of Christmas (N): 3 pcs @1 3/8" x 5 1/4" (holly print)
To Make This Card:

  • Score along long side at 4 1/4" - 5 3/4" - 7 1/4" - 8 3/4".  Crease well with bone folder, creating a "column". Place Tear n Tape on the last, scored section. Lay 2 sections flat to back of card, and adhere.  Stand up and see if it works!
  • Now, add the DSP pieces to the 3 columns.
  • Run the White piece through the new, Distressed Tile 3D Embossing Folder. Attach to the "inside" of card as shown.
  • Stamp the "holly bough" in Memento Black ink.  Color with Blends and die cut with corresponding die.  Attach to White layer of card - it just fits!
  • Next, stamp the "NOEL" in Versamark ink and emboss in gold.  Die cut with corresponding die and attach to 4 Real Red stitched die cut circles (from the Stylish Shapes). Arrange the circles on the 2nd panel, they just fit.  I used Dimensionals behind them as well!
  • Finish with a gold bow!

Joy of Noel Pine Bough

I love this clean and simle Joy of Noel "pine bough" card! I finally found a use for the gold foil wood grain in the Joyful Specialty Papers! It's not only a strip on the card, but was used for the die cut "pine boughs"! And, I learned a new technique - splattering with a fresh Wink of Stella and clear block - I love the look!  Add just a little coloring, and you're done!

Measurements:

  • Shaded Spruce: 1/4 sheet
  • Basic White: 5 1/4" x 8 1/8", 3" x 4" (image)
  • Joyful Specialty Paper (N): 2 pcs @1/2" x 5 1/4" (gold wood grain - one inside, one outside), 3" square (for pine boughs - gold wood grain); 1" x 5 1/4" (Spruce Plaid)
To Make This Card:

  • Fold White card base in half. "Splatter" front with Wink of Stella. Attach to Shaded Spruce card base.
  • Attach "Spruce" strip next to fold, followed by "gold strip" right next to it.
  • Stamp sentiment in Shaded Spruce on lower Right corner.
  • Next, stamp "pine bough" in Memento Black ink onto piece of White.  Color with Blends as shown.  the "holly leaves" are a mix of Lt Shaded Spruce and Lt Old Olive.
  • Die cut "pine bough" with corresponding die. Set aside.
  • Now, die cut 2 "pine boughs" from the Gold Wood Grain piece. Arrange these behind "pine bough" and then attach to card as shown, with Dimensionals.
  • Finish with Gold Strip on inside, and Black Gingham Bow.

Foiled Noel

I saw this card using our current Melon Mambo & Granny Apple Green Foils.  I loved the card, but I had chosen not to purchase those specialty papers. So, I dug out some retired foils and created the card anyway.  It's a lovely use of the dies along with foils...of any kind that you might have!

Measurements:

  • Real Red: 1/2 sheet
  • Basic White: 4" x 5 1/4"
  • Red & Green Foil (ret): 4" x 4 1/4" (detailed label); 3" square (pine boughs)
To Make This Card:

  • Dry emboss the White layer with Merry Melody Embossing Folder.
  • TIe 15" ribbon around this layer, having bow on the left side.
  • NOW, you can attach this layer to folded Real Red Card.
  • Die cut "detailed label" from Red Foil. Set aside.
  • Die cut 3 "pine boughs" from Green Foil.
  • Arrange "pine boughs" behind "label" using Mini Glue Dots. Attach to card front with Dimensionals.
  • Die cut "noel" from Silver Glitter Self Adhesive Specialty Paper.  Peel off backing and arrange onto "detailed label". (I would have never thought to even try this!)
  • Finish with scattered Tinsel Gems 4.

Glittered Noel Book Binder Card

I just love glitter paper, especially for my holiday cards!  Stampin' Up! came out with ADHESIVE glitter paper in the Online Exclusives section!  I could see many quick cards using this Specialty Paper, especially with detailed dies, like with the Christmas Classics Dies! This really was a neat, quick card to make! The picture doesn't do it justice. Give it a try!

Measurements:

  • Basic White: 1/2 sheet cut LENGTHWISE
  • Thick Basic White: 2 1/2" square
  • Joyful Specialty Paper (N): 4" square, 1" x 4" (Spruce Plaid), 3/8" x 4" strip (inside)
  • Gold Glitter Specialty Paper (OE): 4" square (detailed frame & NOEL)
To Make This Card:

  • Fold White card in half. Score the front flap 1 1/4" from fold.  Crease well.
  • Attach 1" DSP piece to "binding".
  • Wrap ribbon around White base and DSP and tie in a bow.
  • Now, attach "binding" area to card with Tear n Tape.
  • Adhere DSP square to other side of front.
  • Next, die cut detailed "frame" from gold glitter piece,  before cutting, also add NOEL die and cut all at once! Note: in order to cut clear through the glitter paper, be sure to run the die back and forth, and flip over and run, again, if you can.  It's not necessary to cut the adhesive backing, just the glitter backing.
  • Carefully, peel the glitter pieces from the backing. (including the letters) Attach the "detailed frame" to the card front.
  • Next, cut the "insert" from Thick White and attach over the cut letter opening.
  • Now, add the glitter letters.  Use the cut out piece as a guide.
